Prayer For Daily Obedience
Seven Simple Daily Prayers
Prayerlessness is the great enemy of true happiness. If we give up on prayer, or refuse to pray, we surrender our seat at the very source of the highest and fullest joy. “You do not have, because you do not ask” (James 4:2).
But even those of us who do pray can find ourselves in danger of forfeiting prayer’s fullness as we fall into stale ruts of familiar words and repeated requests. We wake up each day, say the same prayers, and wonder why it doesn’t feel more real and life-changing.
As we walk through the valley of the shadow of rut, many of us just put our heads down and hope for better days. But the Bible speaks too often and too highly of prayer for us to stay here long.
Yes, we may know the Lord’s Prayer by heart, but those five verses are not the only guide we have to help us pray. God has given us all kinds of routes daily ruts in prayer. Take Psalm 86, for example.
Here are seven simple daily prayers drawn from David’s prayer.
1. Listen to my prayer
Give ear, O Lord, to my prayer; listen to my plea for grace. (Psalm 86:6)
David wrote an entire book of divinely inspired song-prayers to God, so you would think he might know that God hears all our prayers. But over and over again, he still pleads with God to listen (Psalm 4:1, 17:6, 27:7, 28:2, 30:10, and more). Do you ever ask God to hear your prayer — or do you just assume he will?
“God will not lend his strength to selfish dreams, but he waits to supernaturally empower acts of self-less service.”
The ever-present help of God can make us prone to take him for granted. We hear, “Ask me for whatever you wish, and I will give it to you,” and quietly, even subconsciously, we begin to presume that God exists to meet our needs. That kind of entitlement, though, robs God’s promise of its power and empties our prayer-life of its wonder.
God Almighty, the sovereign and infinite Maker of heaven and earth, hears your prayers. Don’t ever, ever take God’s ear for granted. Know his holiness, and your sin, well enough not to presume he will listen, but for Jesus’s sake. Ask him to hear one more prayer.
2. Save me, and keep me
Preserve my life, for I am godly; save your servant, who trusts in you — you are my God. Be gracious to me, O Lord, for to you do I cry all the day. (Psalm 86:2–3)
In the face of all his enemies, David looked to our God for protection and deliverance. He was often surrounded on every side, threatened in every way imaginable. But he found hope and confidence in his sovereign, unchanging Father in heaven (Psalm 18:2).
We have an enemy far greater and more fearful than all of David’s enemies combined (1 Peter 5:8). He has planted his mercenaries at every turn (Ephesians 6:12). And we are helpless against his schemes without a warrior fighting for us (Ephesians 6:11).You were saved, and you are being saved every day (1 Corinthians 15:2). You are being kept (1 Peter 1:5). But not without prayer (Ephesians 6:18). Each day is another new confident plea for protection and keeping:
Now to him who is able to keep you from stumbling and to present you blameless before the presence of his glory with great joy, to the only God, our Savior, through Jesus Christ our Lord, be glory, majesty, dominion, and authority, before all time and now and forever. Amen. (Jude 1:24–25)
3. Make my heart happy in you
Gladden the soul of your servant, for to you, O Lord, do I lift up my soul. (Psalm 86:4)
Humans were not created just to be rescued from sin, but to be flooded with joy in the Rescuer. Sin disrupted God’s ultimate plan for you; it didn’t create it. Jesus is not only a get-out-of-jail card, but a get-into-eternal-joy Savior and Treasure. God made you to demonstrate his worth by making you happy in him — not just by placing you in heaven, but by giving you himself.
God commands us to have that kind of joy in him (Psalm 32:11; Luke 10:20; Philippians 4:4). But any of us who have tried know we cannot put on joy we put on a pair of pants. Something supernatural has to happen in our hearts, and the supernatural only happens one way: with God’s help.
No matter what you’re going through or how far away happiness feels, never settle for anything less than joy in the Christian life, and never assume you’ll find it without asking God for it.
4. Teach me your ways
Teach me your way, O Lord, that I may walk in your truth. (Psalm 86:11)
Knowing the truth is not the end of God’s plans for everything you learn about him. He wants to see the truth come alive in you — in your priorities, in your relationships, and in your heart.
A Christian is saved apart from our doing (Ephesians 2:8), but we are delivered into a life filled with doing, good works prepared specifically for us before we were even born (Galatians 2:16; Ephesians 2:10).
“Never settle for anything less than joy, and never assume you’ll find it without asking God for it.”
But the dots between what we know and what it means for our daily lives are not always clear. The dots between the One we love and the way we should live can often be foggy at best.As un-American as it may seem, God doesn’t expect us to just figure it out on our own.
He wants us to ask him for wisdom and guidance — “God, teach me your way” — and he wants to do the work himself, by his Spirit, through our working.
Paul says, “Work out your own salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you, both to will and to work for his good pleasure” (Philippians 2:12–13).
5. Give me your strength
Turn to me and be gracious to me; give your strength to your servant. (Psalm 86:16)
Some of us do not need to be convinced to work. We wake up ready to tackle our to-do list and take on the world. We just forget to ask for help, or to serve in anyone’s strength but our own.
That kind of effort may work for a while, but eventually we are gas and left with small, short-lived returns.
“It is in vain that you rise up early and go late to rest, eating the bread of anxious toil” (Psalm 127:2).
Along with our prayers for guidance and direction, we need the physical and spiritual resources to walk and work well. Nothing of any real, spiritual, lasting value happens in our strength. “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain. Unless the Lord watches over the city, the watchman stays awake in vain” (Psalm 127:1).
Work hard, but never in your own strength. Work in the strength that he supplies (1 Peter 4:11), and let him have all the glory he deserves. God will not lend his own strength to selfish or materialistic dreams, but he will supernaturally empower you to serve. He will give you the courage and resolve to lay down your life for others in the name of Jesus.
6. Unite my heart to fear you
Unite my heart to fear your name. (Psalm 86:11)
Our sinful hearts trend toward division, not unity. More and more of our inner selves resonate with God’s heart, but rebel desires and impulses still linger as long as we live. To be a Christian is to be killing sin (Romans 8:13), which means sin must still remain to be killed (1 John 1:8).
Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it.
Prone to leave the God I love.
Here’s my heart, oh, take and seal it,
Seal it for Thy courts above.
If we set our souls on cruise control, they do not move toward Christ, but in a thousand other directions. Remaining sin divides our attention and affection. Our frequent prayer should be that God rid us of that kind of spiritual divisiveness and unite our hearts in him.
7. Reveal yourself through me
Show me a sign of your favor, that those who hate me may see and be put to shame because you, Lord, have helped me and comforted me. (Psalm 86:17)
The goal of all of God’s favor to us — to every answered prayer — is not only our own hope, joy, and strength, but also a statement to the whole world. What happens in our prayer closets begins with us, and may focus on many of our situations and circumstances, but we should always be asking God to show the world what we have seen and enjoyed of him.
“To be a Christian is to be killing sin.”
Jesus, says, “Let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father who is in heaven” (Matthew 5:16). Peter echoes the same, “Keep your conduct among the Gentiles honorable, so that when they speak against you as evildoers, they may see your good deeds and glorify God on the day of visitation” (1 Peter 2:12).We want our faith and our whole life to mean something to the watching world. We want unbelievers to know that our God is the one and only God. Even more than that, we want them to know him and be saved.
With our prayers, we ask God to take what he is doing for us, and in us, and do something dramatic through us in the hearts and minds of others.

Prayer #10 – Thank You for Meeting My Financial Needs
Heavenly Father, thank you for your many blessings and I thank you that as I give tithes and offerings, I am believing the Lord for:
Jobs and better jobs, raises and bonuses, benefits, sales and commissions, favorable settlements, estates and inheritances, interest and income, rebates and returns, discounts and dividends, checks in the mail, gifts and surprises, finding money, bills decreased and bills paid off, blessings and increase.
Thank you Lord for meeting my financial needs that I may have more than enough to give into the kingdom of God and promote the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Raise your hand and say, “It’s true, it’s for me, and I’m a giver. God has given to me and I am not limited by the world’s economy. Heaven’s economy is mine.”
Thank you Lord for your many blessings. They come in from every direction and I bless the name of the Lord Jesus who made it possible for me to return to what God intended me to be; full of authority through His name and very blessed.
Thank you Lord, in Jesus’ name.
Bible Verses to Open your Prayer on Tithes and Offerings
And he blessed him and said, “Blessed be Abram by God Most High, Possessor of heaven and earth; and blessed be God Most High, who has delivered your enemies into your hand!”
And Abram gave him a tenth of everything.
Every tithe of the land, whether of the seed of the land or of the fruit of the trees, is the Lord’s; it is holy to the Lord. If a man wishes to redeem some of his tithe, he shall add a fifth to it.
And every tithe of herds and flocks, every tenth animal of all that pass under the herdsman’s staff, shall be holy to the Lord.
One shall not differentiate between good or bad, neither shall he make a substitute for it; and if he does substitute for it, then both it and the substitute shall be holy; it shall not be redeemed.”
But you shall seek the place that the Lord your God will choose all your tribes to put his name and make his habitation there. There you shall go, and there you shall bring your burnt offerings and your sacrifices, your tithes and the contribution that you present, your vow offerings, your freewill offerings, and the firstborn of your herd and of your flock.
2 CHRON. 31:4–5
And he commanded the people who lived in Jerusalem to give the portion due to the priests and the Levites, that they might give themselves to the Law of the Lord.
As soon as the command was spread abroad, the people of Israel gave in abundance the firstfruits of grain, wine, oil, honey, and of all the produce of the field.
And they brought in abundantly the tithe of everything.
And he sat down opposite the treasury and watched the people putting money into the offering box. Many rich people put in large sums. And a poor widow came and put in two small copper coins, which make a penny.
For they all contributed their abundance, but she her poverty has put in everything she had, all she had to live on.”
Here is a look at the truth about tithing according to the scripture Malachi 3:10. Presented by Grace Bible Church.

6 Prayers For Obedience
“Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.” These words speak truth from the ole hymn “Trust And Obey”. Think about it. Every time I have decided to trust in my own strength and wisdom I have been let down.
I have struggled harder and longer over things that I should have just given to God. God knows what is best for us all and through our obedience we show Him our trust, faith and love for Him. Here are 6 different prayers for you to use with obedience in mind.
We all fall short of the glory of God, but we have a Savior who washes these faults away! Praise the Lord!
I Am Stubborn
I come to You with sincere gratitude for everything You have blessed me with. I don’t tell You enough how thankful I am. I am a stubborn man/woman, Lord. I having control and being the boss, but I know deep down inside how many times I have failed.
Why do I keep coming back to my own strength, Lord, when I know You are the strength and knowledge I need? Father, soften my heart and grow me closer to You as I place my life in your hands. Lord, I want to be obedient. Show me Your ways. Bind the devil from tempting me to do things on my own.
When he does, though, I want to be ready! Give me the will to stand tall and accept Your will for me and not my own. I love You, Lord! Thank You for being patient with me in my times of stubbornness. Amen
Give me the will to stand tall and accept Your will for me and not my own.
I am so in love with You! Show me Your will for me today. I want to serve You and live for You! As I read Your Word, teach me and show me truth today.
I want to obey You and I want people around me to know that there is something different about me. I want my actions to point them to You, Lord.
You deserve all of the glory! You deserve all of the praise! I trust in You and I will do my absolute best to obey You today! Thank You for Your mercy and grace, Father! Amen
With Kids I Understand
Until I had children I never thought of life from Your perspective with my obedience. I now understand and I am so sorry for all of the times I have not listened to You. When my children disobey me, it brings me back to Your throne as I feel regret for the times I should have obeyed You. It has also given me a heart of major forgiveness to my kids.
I know my faults and neither I nor my kids are more important to You. We are all Your children. Forgive me when I am not patient with my kids, for I know how patient You have been with me. You amaze me daily, Father! I love my children and I thank You for showing me another valuable lesson in obedience from my eyes as a father/mother.
I love You, Lord! Amen
Rebellion Is Everywhere
Father In Heaven
I pray for the lost souls of this world. Father, rebellion is everywhere! Men and women daily are indulging in their own desires and shoving You by the wayside.
Instead of obeying Your commands and filling the void in their heart with Jesus they are filling it with drunkenness, sexual immorality, filthy programs and hundreds of other temporary fixes. They don’t understand that they keep coming back to these sins because they don’t work.
The only long-lasting solution is the cross. Father, use me as Your witness everywhere I go today. Have mercy on the lost just as You had mercy on me until I decided to follow Jesus.
Lord, You are patient because You love everyone and I am so thankful You waited for me! The tide will turn in the hearts of some today to follow You and I praise You for their act of obedience. May Your Name be glorified by my actions today! Amen
I am at Your mercy because of my many faults. I have been following my own desires in certain areas of life instead of being obedient to You. I am so sorry, Lord. I am feeling the consequences of my poor choices and now I come to You with sorrow in my heart.
I should have obeyed You from the start, but sin enticed me. Father, Your desires are what matter. I want to follow Your desires for me. Please forgive me for bad choices. I want to feel close to You again. I do love You and I am so sorry for the man/woman I have been lately.
I praise You, Lord! Amen
I feel I couldn’t be any closer to You than to be in Your actual presence in Heaven! I feel so alive in Your Word! I have read it and I have obeyed it and I am so full of joy that it is bursting me! It is true that when I have my focus on Jesus I see clearly Your intentions for me. You are an amazing God and I praise You for the miracles and blessings You’ve given me. You are my Beloved! I love You! Amen
We are all called to obey the Word of God. While we all stumble and struggle daily with life, it is important to ask for forgiveness when necessary and to strive to live as holy of a life as possible. Where are you with obedience? Can I pray for you? May God bless you as you continue to live a life worthy of the calling!

Scriptural Daily Prayer for Protection
by Cindy Vander Haar
Thank you for visiting Scriptural Daily Prayer for Protection. To fully understand the principles of praying scripturally, please read the teaching “Why Pray Scripture?” .
Hearing God: As it is rare to hear an audible voice from God, one of the ways God will speak to us is through His written Word and a small still voice inside us.
Before reviewing the scripture references below that address what the Bible says about protection ask the Holy Spirit of revelation to join you.
When certain verses capture your attention more than others, meditate and incorporate those into your personal daily prayer life.
Heavenly Father, we ask You to give complete knowledge of Your Will to this reader, and to give him/her Your spiritual wisdom and understanding as they seek You with all their hearts and lean not on their own understanding. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.

Bless the Lord O my soul, and forget not all his benefits; who forgivith all thine iniquities; who healeth all thy diseases; who redeemeth thy life from destruction; who crowneth thee with lovingkindness and tender mercies; who satisfieth thy mouth with good things; so that thy youth is renewed the eagle’s. Psalm 103: 2-5
For thou, Lord, wilt bless the righteous; with favour wilt thou compass him as with a shield. Psalm 5:12
Surely he hath borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows; yet we did esteem him stricken, smitten of God, and afflicted. But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities; the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed. Isaiah 53:4,5
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance; against such there is no law. Galatians 5:2
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall remain stable and fixed under the shadow of the Almighty whose power no foe can withstand. I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress, my God; on Him I lean and rely, and in Him I confidently trust! For then God will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence.
Then He will cover you with His pinions, and under His wings shall you trust and find refuge: His truth and His faithfulness are a shield and a buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror of the night, nor of the arrow (the evil plots and slanders of the wicked) that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor of the destruction and sudden death that surprise and lay waste at noonday.A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not come near you.
Only a spectator shall you be (yourself inaccessible in the secret place of the Most High) as you witness the reward of the wicked.Because you have made the Lord your refuge, and the Most High you dwelling place, there shall no evil befall you, nor any plague or calamity come near your tent. For He will give His angels special charge over you to accompany and defend and preserve you in all your ways of obedience and service. They shall bear you up on their hands, lest you dash your foot against a stone. You shall tread upon the lion and the adder; the young lion and the serpent shall you trample underfoot.
Because he has set his love upon Me (says God), therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he knows and understands My name and has a personal knowledge of My mercy, love and kindness—he trusts and relies on Me, knowing I will I will never forsake him, no, never.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble, I will deliver him and honor him. With long life will I satisfy him and show him My salvation. Psalm 91 (AMP)
Call on me and I will answer thee, and shew thee great and mighty things, which thou knowest not. Jeremiah 3:33
Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord, and in the power of his might. Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.
For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places. Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand.
Stand therefore, having your loins gird abut with truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness; and your feet shod with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the firey darts of the wicked.
And take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; Praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, and watching thereunto with all perseverance and supplication for all saints. Ephesians 6:10-18
Greater is He that is in us than he that is in the earth. 1 John 4:4
…Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Philippians 2:13 (NIV)
Now the works of the flesh are manifest, which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, envyings, murders, drunkenness, revellings, and such : of the which I tell you before, as I have also told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, gentleness, goodness, faith, meekness, temperance: against such there is no law. And they that are Christ’s have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. Let us not be desirous of vain glory, provoking one another, envying one another. Galatians 5:20-26
I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you. However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. Luke 10:19
Roll your works upon the Lord (commit and trust them wholly to Him; He will cause your thoughts to become agreeable to His will, and) so shall your plans be established and succeed. Proverbs 16:3 (AMP)
Scriptural Daily Prayer for Protection
Dear Lord, we commit this day unto You, that You would establish it and cause my thoughts to become agreeable with Your will. I thank you for Your promises in Psalm 91. By Your grace and through the faith of Jesus Christ, I receive them for myself and my family. Thank You, that You watch over Your word to perform it.
I choose to dwell in the secret place of the Most High so that I would remain stable and fixed under Your wings. I ask that You make that a revelation in my life. Thank you that I can draw closer to You each day through my redeemer Jesus and Your written Word which brings stability and strength.
You are my refuge and my fortress and I trust You. For You deliver me from the traps of the enemy and deadly sickness. You give me wisdom and cover me with Your grace and I find my refuge in Your unfailing love. Your truth and faithfulness protect and amaze me.You have set Your love upon me, Lord. Thank you. I am a little child receiving Your undeserved and yet lavish and unconditional love. You have made me both a child and a soldier and equipped me with Your armor.
Because You live in me, I will tread on the enemy who attacks me–for greater is He that is in me than he that is in the world. You are with me in trouble and You deliver me– and You even honor me with Your favor.
We praise You, Lord.
Thank You Jesus that You died to give us forgiveness for our sins through Your blood and healing by the gouged bloody stripes on Your back. Your grace extended to us is unending. You alone are our provider and You are almighty and greatly to be praised.
Thank you that You are at work within me causing me to desire and to do Your will. Thank you that You are producing the fruit of the spirit in my life making me more You, taking me to repentance and refining me, changing my heart to serve and honor You in my thoughts and deeds. Lord, forgive me today for……
Lord, Help me to love others with the love You have given me and to extend the grace You have extended to me.
Because I trust You, I will not be afraid of terrible things that happen, of evil plots against my nation or myself. I won’t be afraid of what people may say about me. You have given me favor and You are my vindicator. I can rest in You. Your grace is so sufficient.
Because of You, I don’t have to be afraid of sickness, or pestilence, or sudden destructions or deaths. As I dwell in Your secret place, I can even be a spectator as the world falls around me because You are my refuge and dwelling place.
I thank you that no evil will befall me or my family, and no plague or calamity will come near our home for You have given your angels charge over us to preserve us in all our ways. They will bear us up on their hands and protect us.
I will put on Your armor every day—the belt of truth, the breastplate of righteousness and the helmet of salvation. I will shod my feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace. I will yield the sword, which is Your word. And above all, I will take up the shield of faith which protects me from the firey darts of the enemy. I will pray in the Spirit and pray for others.Thank you that when I call on You, You answer. You will satisfy me with long life and I will see Your salvation in every area of my being. I welcome Your will and Your kingdom in my life. I love You, Lord. You are Holy and Just and Worthy of all praise eternally.
In Jesus’ name, Amen.
