Prayer For An Obedient Heart

6 Prayers For Obedience

Prayer For An Obedient Heart

“Trust and obey, for there’s no other way to be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey.” These words speak truth from the ole hymn “Trust And Obey”. Think about it. Every time I have decided to trust in my own strength and wisdom I have been let down.

I have struggled harder and longer over things that I should have just given to God. God knows what is best for us all and through our obedience we show Him our trust, faith and love for Him. Here are 6 different prayers for you to use with obedience in mind.

We all fall short of the glory of God, but we have a Savior who washes these faults away! Praise the Lord!

I Am Stubborn

O Father,

I come to You with sincere gratitude for everything You have blessed me with. I don’t tell You enough how thankful I am. I am a stubborn man/woman, Lord. I having control and being the boss, but I know deep down inside how many times I have failed.

Why do I keep coming back to my own strength, Lord, when I know You are the strength and knowledge I need? Father, soften my heart and grow me closer to You as I place my life in your hands. Lord, I want to be obedient. Show me Your ways. Bind the devil from tempting me to do things on my own.

When he does, though, I want to be ready! Give me the will to stand tall and accept Your will for me and not my own. I love You, Lord! Thank You for being patient with me in my times of stubbornness. Amen

Give me the will to stand tall and accept Your will for me and not my own.

Show Me

Dear Lord,

I am so in love with You! Show me Your will for me today. I want to serve You and live for You! As I read Your Word, teach me and show me truth today.

I want to obey You and I want people around me to know that there is something different about me. I want my actions to point them to You, Lord.

You deserve all of the glory! You deserve all of the praise! I trust in You and I will do my absolute best to obey You today! Thank You for Your mercy and grace, Father! Amen

With Kids I Understand

Father,

Until I had children I never thought of life from Your perspective with my obedience. I now understand and I am so sorry for all of the times I have not listened to You.   When my children disobey me, it brings me back to Your throne as I feel regret for the times I should have obeyed You. It has also given me a heart of major forgiveness to my kids.

I know my faults and neither I nor my kids are more important to You. We are all Your children. Forgive me when I am not patient with my kids, for I know how patient You have been with me. You amaze me daily, Father! I love my children and I thank You for showing me another valuable lesson in obedience from my eyes as a father/mother.

I love You, Lord! Amen

Rebellion Is Everywhere

Father In Heaven

I pray for the lost souls of this world. Father, rebellion is everywhere! Men and women daily are indulging in their own desires and shoving You by the wayside.

Instead of obeying Your commands and filling the void in their heart with Jesus they are filling it with drunkenness, sexual immorality, filthy programs and hundreds of other temporary fixes. They don’t understand that they keep coming back to these sins because they don’t work.

The only long-lasting solution is the cross. Father, use me as Your witness everywhere I go today. Have mercy on the lost just as You had mercy on me until I decided to follow Jesus.

Lord, You are patient because You love everyone and I am so thankful You waited for me! The tide will turn in the hearts of some today to follow You and I praise You for their act of obedience. May Your Name be glorified by my actions today! Amen

Who’s Desires?

Gracious Lord,

I am at Your mercy because of my many faults. I have been following my own desires in certain areas of life instead of being obedient to You. I am so sorry, Lord. I am feeling the consequences of my poor choices and now I come to You with sorrow in my heart.

I should have obeyed You from the start, but sin enticed me. Father, Your desires are what matter. I want to follow Your desires for me. Please forgive me for bad choices. I want to feel close to You again. I do love You and I am so sorry for the man/woman I have been lately.

I praise You, Lord! Amen

Spiritually Thriving

Lord,

I feel I couldn’t be any closer to You than to be in Your actual presence in Heaven! I feel so alive in Your Word! I have read it and I have obeyed it and I am so full of joy that it is bursting me! It is true that when I have my focus on Jesus I see clearly Your intentions for me. You are an amazing God and I praise You for the miracles and blessings You’ve given me. You are my Beloved! I love You! Amen

Conclusion

We are all called to obey the Word of God. While we all stumble and struggle daily with life, it is important to ask for forgiveness when necessary and to strive to live as holy of a life as possible. Where are you with obedience? Can I pray for you? May God bless you as you continue to live a life worthy of the calling!

A Prayer for a Broken Heart

Prayer For An Obedient Heart

  • Cortney Whiting
  • 2017Nov 14

As I browse the checkout line at the grocery store, I notice the covers of the magazines. The decorated tables, beautiful homes, and smiling models. They are pictures of perfection. Yet, adjacent to these are the gossip tabloids, exploiting the misery and pain of others. The photographs are raw. Within the space of a few inches is a dichotomy that reflects how our world can turn on a dime.

Since sin entered the world, creation has suffered its consequences. Distrust, discomfort, and death were not original to Eden. Yet, because of sin, we live with brokenness. We suffer injustice by the hands of others. We experience the consequence of our own transgressions.

But by God’s grace, we can experience healing. Sometimes, we set limits on how God heals. We picture Jesus healing a blind man or a sick woman. Yet, these actions were signs to point to his authority. God sent the Wounded Healer to restore the brokenhearted back to himself.

Psalm 34:18 states that the Lord is near to the brokenhearted. Having personally experienced the repercussions of this fallen world, I find solace in this verse. We are not abandoned in times of strife. Our Heavenly Father sees and responds to our pain.

We see this in the story of Hagar, the Egyptian slave, in Genesis 16 and 21. Though cast aside by her mistress and left to die, the Lord continued to see and provide for her and her child. She responds by giving him the name, “The God who sees.

” Psalm 147 praises God for his ability to heal the brokenhearted and bind up their wounds.

In Isaiah 61:1, God promises to bind up the brokenhearted. This was the verse Jesus proclaimed in the synagogue at the beginning of his ministry.

We sometimes confuse this promise with immediate healing and when we continue to feel pangs of sorrow, our faith wanes. His purpose was to bind up a world that had been broken by sin.

The concept of binding implies that he will wrap us tightly in his loving presence and hold us, making it so we can carry on.

When Jesus entered the world, he experienced the same grief and brokenness caused by sin that we experience today. He suffered and endured rejection, humiliation, hunger, temptation, sorrow, and betrayal. Yet, through his death and resurrection, he overcame the world by conquering sin and death.

Through his resurrection, we have victory over the darkness. By his stripes, we are healed. We have the hope to carry on because we are more than conquerors in Christ because nothing can separate us from the love of God (Romans 8:37-39).

It is this truth that we must cling to in times of crisis and heartbreak.

Before his crucifixion, Jesus predicted the heartbreak his disciples will experience (John 16). Even in his prediction was hope. This hope came through the promise of the Spirit. Through the Spirit, the disciples would be able to experience the fullness of God and a joy previously unknown. But it was by pathway of sorrow that the intimacy of rejoicing would follow.

Jesus promised the Spirit would help, comfort, convict, and guide believers in their ministry after he was gone. Before the resurrection and the Holy Spirit’s arrival at Pentecost, the disciples deserted Jesus, fled for their lives, and were living in fear.

After the resurrection and at through the Spirit, the disciples spread the gospel message and made way for the Church to make a lasting impact for thousands of years.

Perhaps healing should not be gauged by restoration of physical property or life, but rather a renewal of our intimacy with our Creator and Sustainer God. We were created to be at peace with God and with others. Sin has broken our ability to obtain that in and of ourselves.

Yet, through Christ, God has graciously given us an opportunity to receive healing to our delicate hearts in a broken world.

By Christ’s parting gift of His Spirit, we are comforted in the most trying times and are given the divine strength to live another day in the joy that only God can give.

A Prayer for a Broken Heart:

Lord, my heart is so heavy this morning. My sorrow is so great. In the midst of all this pain I am feeling, I am so thankful that you are God and I am not. I am thankful that you are all-powerful, that I do not have to hold it all together or be strong for everyone in my life.

You are my strength. You are strong for my loved-ones when I can’t be. I am thankful you are all-knowing – that you know the outcome to this misery I am facing. That I don’t have to figure out what the next week or month or year looks , because you have it all held together.

And you promise my feet won’t slip. Help me, Lord! Strengthen me for today. Give me daily bread, that I can be sustained through this heartache. Thank you God that you are close when I am hurting. Thank you God for the comfort, grace and joy that only you can give. Hold me up today.

In your name I pray, Amen.

A Short Prayer for a Broken Heart

Lord, please heal my broken heart. Fill me with the peace and joy I know can only come from You during this hard time. Walk closely beside me during my journey to healing and recovery that I know is possible through Your power alone. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Say this prayer and believe in the deliverance from demons attacking you.  Also, deliverance from strongholds of the mind.

Jesus Christ, I affirm that You are the Son of God and the only door to eternal life.

I acknowledge that You died for my sins on the cross 2000 years ago and rose from the dead by the power of Your Holy Spirit.

That same Holy Spirit power is greater than all other powers and has already defeated Satan and his demons on the cross 2000 years ago.

Jesus, I renounce all arrogance, self-sufficiency and pride, which was the downfall of Satan. I have nothing and am nothing, except in You my hiding place.

for Child Deliverance Prayers

Father God, in the name of Your Son Jesus Christ, I am depending on You to provide a safe passageway to deliverance for my child, the same way You opened the Red Sea for Moses.

I am waiting in great expectation for You to provide a hedge round about him/her the same way You placed a cloud and fire front and rear.

I am waiting for You and Your angel to lead the way to permanent restoration, to become a blessing, especially to You and for the purposes for which he/she was created.  Thank You Father God.

Prayer for Deliverance Scripture

Exodus 14:15-28 TLB  15 Then the Lord said to Moses, “Quit PRAYING and get the people moving! Forward, march!  16 Use your rod – Hold it out over the water.  The sea will open up a path before you.

All the people of Israel shall walk through on dry ground! 17 I will harden the hearts of the Egyptians (demons/ interference/self-righteous/misguided)

and they will go in after you.  You will see the honor I will get in defeating Pharaoh (Satan) and all his armies, chariots and horsemen.

18 All Egypt (hell/enemies/opposition/ mindsets that omit God of the Trinity) shall know that I am Jehovah.”

19 Then the Angel of God, who was leading the people of Israel, moved the cloud around behind them.  20It stood between the people of Israel and the Egyptians.

That night as it changed to a pillar of fire, it gave darkness(blindness/confusion/hindrance) to the Egyptians but light (sight/counsel/clarity/direction) to the people of Israel!  So the Egyptians couldn’t find (overcome/harass/torment/terrorize/victimize/capture/enslave) the Israelis!

21 Meanwhile, Moses stretched his rod over the sea, and the Lord opened up a path through the sea, with walls
of water on each side; a strong East wind blew all that night, drying the sea bottom.

22 So the people of Israel walked through the sea on dry ground!  23 Then the Egyptians followed them between the walls of water along the  bottom of the sea – all of Pharaoh’s horses, chariots and horsemen.

24 But in the early morning Jehovah looked down from the cloud of fie upon the array of the Egyptians and began to harass them.  25 Their chariot wheels began coming off, so that their chariots scraped along the dry ground.  “Let’s get here,” the Egyptians yelled.

“Jehovah is fighting for them and against us.”

26  When all the Israelites were on the other side, the Lord said to Moses, “Stretch out your hand again over the sea, so that the waters will come back over the Egyptians, their chariots and horsemen.” (Close all doors/gates to the enemy, in Jesus name.

) 27 Moses did and the sea returned to normal beneath the morning light.  The Egyptians tried to flee, but the Lord drowned them in the sea.  28 The water covered the path, the chariots, the horsemen, and all the army of Pharaoh that chased after Israel through the sea.

Not one (accuser/nightmare/enemy/plague/pre-existing condition/disease) remained alive.

A Prayer for the Worried Mom’s Heart

Prayer For An Obedient Heart

Do you ever worry?

I think we can all admit that we do. In fact, we probably worry more than we realize. As a mother, I find myself worrying about my children, about their health, their learning, and whether I can just make it to bedtime each day.

I also find myself worried about paying bills, about my husband’s travel for work, and about that message from my doctor needing to discuss test results with me. My to-do lists keep me awake at night because I fear I’ll forget to do something important. Questions “what if?” and “should I have?” swirl around my mind, holding me hostage and keeping me chained to my worries and fears.

“To expel worry from our heart, we need to grow deeper roots of trust in God.”

Worry is a kind of “acceptable sin.” By that I mean worry is one of those sins that everyone does so we don’t often address it. gossip, worry is something we all know we aren’t supposed to do, but we often gloss over it and call it something else — something stress. Especially for women, worry can be expected and in some situations to not worry would seem strange.

But deep down, we want to be freed from the chronic feeling of doom and the expectation of something bad lurking just around the corner. We know that the Bible tells us not to worry, but “what if?” thoughts seem such a part of us that we don’t know how to stop.

What can we do?

Remember and Pray

oil and water, trust and worry do not mix. To expel worry from our heart, we need to grow deeper roots of trust in God.

Time and again in the Psalms, when the writer’s heart was heavy, he turned to look back at all that God had done for him.

As the psalmist looked back at God’s faithfulness and his sovereign care for him, he was able to trust God, even in the midst of troubling circumstances.

When we look back on our own lives at God’s faithfulness to us, it gives us confidence and hope in his future faithfulness. We look back to our own story of salvation.

We see that Jesus died on the cross for our sins, that this is the demonstration of God’s love for us (Romans 5:8). When worries threaten to seize our heart, we need to remember and dwell on the truth of the gospel.

Remembering the cross propels us in faith for what lies ahead.

“God, forgive me for trying to control so many things, instead of praying to the one in control of everything.”

And as we remember, we need to turn to God in prayer. Hebrews says that because of Jesus, we can come to the throne of grace with confidence, to receive the help we need (Hebrews 4:16).

Paul was referring to chronic worry when he wrote in Philippians 4:6, “Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” We are to give our worries to God in prayer, trusting him with all our burdens and cares.

As a result, we will receive in return the peace we long for, “And the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:7).

You might even pray something this. . . .

A Prayer for the Worried Heart

My Papa in Heaven,

I come to you with a heart heavy and full of so many worries and cares. I want to just curl up on your lap and find some peace from the chaos in my life. My worries fill my mind night and day. My stomach is in knots and I can hardly breathe. I feel I am drained dry; the joy has been sucked right me.

But you said to come to you with all my burdens. You said that you will carry them. You tell us you are a rock, a shield, a fortress. I need a rock right now. I need a fortress to run into right now. I need you.

There are so many decisions to make. What if I make the wrong one? So many bad things loom on the horizon. What if I’m not prepared? Help me to focus my heart on you and not on the giants around me. I know that all these worries are keeping me from trusting you. Peter, instead of looking toward your face, I am looking around at the waves encircling me.

Forgive me for doubting and not living a life of trust. I believe, but please help my unbelief! I know that when I worry, I am believing a lie that says that I can control what happens in my life. Forgive me for trying to control something I never really had control of. Help me to trust in your word and not the lies.

You sent your Son to carry my greatest burden at the cross. I know that you can handle all that troubles me today. There is nothing too great for you, the earth is your footstool and the wind and rain come and go at your command. Free me of this worry today. Help me to trust the same grace that saved me at the cross to save me from all that weighs me down.

I know that you have a perfect plan for my life. Help me to walk by faith and not by sight. I want to trust in your plan and your love for me. I want to face the unknown future confident that you have it under control. Grant me the grace I need.

Thank you for Jesus and that because of him I can come to you in confidence. You accept me as I am, worries and all. I give them all to you now, in Jesus’s name, Amen.

Children, I bless you in the name of Jesus, proclaiming the blessings of God, my Redeemer, upon you. May He give you wisdom, a reverential fear of God, and a heart of love.

May He create in you the desire to attend to His words, a willing and obedient heart that you may consent and submit to His sayings and walk in His ways. May your eyes look straight ahead with purpose for the future.

May your tongue be as the pen of a ready writer, writing mercy and kindness upon the tablets of your heart. May you speak the truth in love.

May your hands do the works of the Father; may your feet walk the paths that He has foreordained for you.

I have no greater joy than this, to hear that my children are living their lives in truth.

May the Lord prepare you and your future mate to love and honor one another, and may He grant to your union upright sons and daughters who will live in accordance with His Word. May your source of livelihood be honorable and secure, so that you will earn a living with your own hands. May you always worship God in spirit and in truth.

I pray above all things that you may always prosper and be in health, even as your soul prospers. I know the thoughts and plans that I have for you, says the Lord, thoughts and plans for welfare and peace and not for evil, to give you hope in your final outcome.

In the name of Jesus, my Lord and my God, Amen.

Prayer #3

Heavenly Father, I ask You in the name and through the blood of the Lord Jesus Christ to bind and rebuke Satan and to put a hedge of protection around me and each one in my family. “Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in . . . [us] will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ” (Philippians 1:6). In the name of Jesus Christ our Shepherd, Amen.

Prayer #4

I know my weaknesses and so do the demons. Father, I am struggling big-time right now with pornography and I need You to carry me today. Please, Lord, stop all thoughts of sexual promiscuity from plaguing me.

I need Your strength! I need Your hands of might! There is a battle for my heart and soul in this area and I want You to be the victor in my heart! I love You, Lord! Amen

Prayer #5

All Powerful God,

I extol You in praise! I thank You for Your mighty arms of strength! I bless Your Name! I will proclaim to the masses that the war is over! You have won! You have defeated Satan with the cross! Hallelujah! His weak, pathetic existence will end in the lake of fire and I cannot wait until the end! Until that time I pray that you will give me strength to endure the trials and hardships ahead. Prepare my heart and soul for war today! I love You, Abba! Amen

Prayer #6

O Lord,

Every day is an unseen fight in the heart and soul of mankind. I pray that today You will be pleased with my actions. I will put on the belt of truth and not deceive those around me.

I will put on the breastplate of righteousness and treat all I see with fairness and integrity. I will keep my shoes laced tight to deliver the good news, hoping that some will come to know You.

I will keep the shield of faith before me to extinguish the temptations that come my way.

I will wear the helmet of salvation and live joyfully knowing that I am not home yet! I will have the sword of the Spirit ready at all times to deliver deadly blows to those that will listen to Your Word and truth, that they may come to realize how much they need You! Father, I praise You and thank You for Your compassion on me! I love You! Amen

Prayer #7

Gracious Father,

Please forgive me for the iniquities that come from me heart. Lord, sin has its pleasures, but the pain after is far worse! Lord, I am sorry for allowing the temptations thrown at me to overtake me today.

I have sinned against You and I am so sorry! I cannot understand the depth of Your love! You knew from the beginning that I would sin so much against You and yet You paid my price in advance. I am nothing. I am the worst of sinners.

And yet, I am more than a conqueror through the cross! Lord, I have failed You today but I will walk forward with my head high knowing that this was only a battle. You have already won the war over my spirit and soul and I am Yours forever! I love You so much, Father! Thank you for the cross! Amen

Prayer #8

O Lord,

My heart is grieving for those I love that are lost! Their souls are in the hands of the enemy and they don’t know it! What can I do? Father, please use me to shine the light of truth to them! Lord, I wish they could see what I see, to know what I know! Give me the words to speak to them! Lord, the pain that they will face if they die today is gut wrenching to me! Father, give me peace of mind to withstand this chaos and be Your servant to the lost. I love You! Amen
