Unwavering Faith/Hope Learn How to Have Absolutely Solid Trust in God

Prayer For An Unwavering Hope

Faith is not knowing when or how, but firmly believing God will! – Tim.

Learn to have Unwavering Faith

Matthew 21:20-22 When the disciples saw it they exclaimed in astonishment, “How instantaneously the fig-tree has withered away!” 21 “I solemnly tell you,” said Jesus, “that if you have an unwavering faith, you shall not only perform such a miracle as this of the fig-tree, but that even if you say to this mountain, `Be thou lifted up and hurled into the sea,’ it shall be done; 22 and everything, whatever it be, that you ask for in your prayers, if you have faith, you shall obtain.” (WNT)

NOTE: verse 21, ‘unwavering faith’ commonly translated ‘faith without doubt’ G1252 διακρίνω diakrino (dee-ak-ree’-no) 2. (literally and reflexively) to withdraw from 6. (reflexively) hesitate. Normally translated as doubting, but James 1:6 uses ‘wavering’ and in James 1:8 is referred to as being double-minded.Matthew 21:21 “And Jesus answering, said to them, Verily I say to you, if you have faith, without wavering, you may do not only as much as is done to this fig tree; but if you should even say to that mountain, Be thou lifted up and thrown into the sea, it shall be done.” (CTET)

Always trust the Lord

Psalms 26:1-7 Vindicate me, O Lord, for I have walked in my integrity; And I have trusted in the Lord without wavering. 2 Examine me, O Lord, and try me; Test my mind and my heart. 3 For Thy lovingkindness is before my eyes, And I have walked in Thy truth. 4 I do not sit with deceitful men, Nor will I go with pretenders.

5 I hate the assembly of evildoers, And I will not sit with the wicked. 6 I shall wash my hands in innocence, And I will go about Thine altar, O Lord, 7 That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving, And declare all Thy wonders. (NASB)

Psalms 26:1 [from three translations] Judge me, O LORD, for I have walked in mine integrity, and I have trusted in the LORD without wavering. (JPS)

Rule me rightly, O יהוה, For I have walked in my integrity. And I have trusted in יהוה, without wavering. (ISR) [יָהּ Yahh (yaw) 1. Jah, the sacred name]

Judge me, O Jehovah, for I have walked in mine integrity: I have trusted also in Jehovah without wavering. (ASV)

Build each other up

Jude 20-23 But you, dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, 21 and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ, who will bring you eternal life. In this way, you will keep yourselves safe in God’s love.

22 And you must show mercy to those whose faith is wavering. 23 Rescue others by snatching them from the flames of judgment. Show mercy to still others, but do so with great caution, hating the sins that contaminate their lives. (NLT)

Unwavering Hope

may we hold fast the unwavering profession of the hope,
Unwavering Hope – from Hebrews 10:23 (YLT)

God is faithful

Hebrews 10:19-25 Therefore, brethren, having boldness to enter the most holy place by the blood of Jesus, 20 By a new and living way which he has opened for us through the veil, that is to say, his flesh;

21 And since we have a high priest over the house of God, 22 Let us draw near with a true heart in full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled clean from an evil conscience, and our bodies washed with pure water.

23 Let us hold fast the profession of our hope, without wavering; (for he who promised is faithful;) 24 And let us consider how to arouse one another to love and to good works:

25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as you see the day approaching. (RKJNT)

verse 23 the phrase ‘without wavering’ (used only once in the KJV Bible) is from the Greek ἀκλινής aklines (ak-lee-nace’) adj. 1. not leaning; steadfast 2. (figuratively) firm; unmoved; unwavering. 3. Never doubted; always steady and on course. Other translations of verse 23: “And let us hold unwaveringly to the hope that we confess…“. (NET)

♦ “and washed as to our body with purifying water: let us hold fast the testimony of hope steadfast…” (Godbey) ♦ “Hold down the profession of our hope unwaveringly; for he who pre-evangelized is trustworthy.” (ECB)

Jesus will return for you (us)

1 Thessalonians 1:2-10 We continually give thanks to God because of you all, while we make mention of you in our prayers.

3 For we never fail to remember your works of faith and labours of love and your persistent and unwavering hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the presence of our God and Father; 4 knowing as we do, brethren, that you are beloved by God and that He has chosen you.

5 The Good News that we brought you did not come to you in words only, but also with power and with the Holy Spirit and with much certainty, for you know the sort of men we became among you, as examples for your sakes.

6 And you followed the pattern set you by us and by the Master, after you had received the Message amid severe persecution, and yet with the joy which the Holy Spirit gives, 7 so that you became a pattern to all the believers throughout Macedonia and Greece. 8 For it was not only from you that the Master’s Message sounded forth throughout Macedonia and Greece; but everywhere your faith in God has become known, so that it is unnecessary for us to say anything about it.

9 For when others speak of us they report the reception we had from you, and how you turned from your idols to God, to be bondservants of the 1 true and ever-living God, 10 and to await the return from Heaven of His Son, whom He raised from among the dead–even Jesus, our Deliverer from God’s coming anger. (WNT)

Unwavering hope of ‘full salvation’

Hebrews 6:19-20, 7:28, 9:28 This hope we have as an anchor of the soul, both sure and steadfast, which enters within the veil; 20 Where Jesus, the forerunner, has entered for us, having become a high priest forever in the order of Melchizedek.

7:28 For the law appoints men, who are frail, to be high priests; but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints the Son, who has been made perfect forever.

9:28 So Christ, having been offered once to bear the sins of many; shall appear a second time, not to bear sin, but to bring full salvation to those who eagerly await him. (RKJNT)

Unwavering wrap-up

Colossians 1:19-23 For it pleased the Father that in Him all the fullness should dwell, 20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross.

21 You, being in past times alienated and enemies in your mind in your evil works, 22 yet now he has reconciled in the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and without blemish and blameless before him, 23 if it is so that you continue in the faith, grounded and steadfast, and not moved away from the hope of the Good News which you heard, which is being proclaimed in all creation under heaven; of which I, Paul, was made a servant. (WEB)

Abraham’s unwavering hope and faith

Romans 4:18-25 Who in hope believed against hope, to the end that he might become a father of many nations, according to that which had been spoken, “So will your seed be.” 19 Without being weakened in faith, he didn’t consider his own body, already having been worn out, (he being about a hundred years old), and the deadness of Sarah’s womb.

20 Yet, looking to the promise of God, he didn’t waver through unbelief, but grew strong through faith, giving glory to God,

21 and being fully assured that what he had promised, he was able also to perform. 22 Therefore it also was “reckoned to him for righteousness.

” 23 Now it was not written that it was accounted to him for his sake alone, 24 but for our sake also, to whom it will be accounted, who believe in him who raised Jesus, our Lord, from the dead, 25 who was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification. (WEB)

Be sure, absolutely solid, and firm

♦ 1 Peter 5:8-11 “Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil, as a roaring lion, walketh about, seeking whom he may devour: 9 Whom resist steadfast in the faith, knowing that the same afflictions are accomplished in your brethren that are in the world.

10 But the God of all grace, who hath called us to his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, establish, strengthen, settle you. 11 To him be glory and dominion for ever and ever. Amen.” (NWR)

Unwavering: Living with Defiant Joy Week 4 — Expectant Hope

Prayer For An Unwavering Hope

Blessed is she who has believed that the Lord would fulfill His promises to her! — Luke 1:45

He has promised that we can have joy in the midst of everything that life is throwing at us. ~ Stasi

OBS Friends, You’re half-way through the Unwavering: Living with Defiant Joy Online Bible Study! Last week we talked about greener grass and the divine trade-offs God is inviting us into — from mourning to dancing, from addiction to freedom, from death to life! This week we’re diving into expectant hope… having hope when the wait is long. Are you ready?

*

A great good is coming. ~ Stasi

We will be able to wait with expectancy only if we believe that a great good is coming. It’s an exercise of faith. It’s an opportunity for our desires to not be quelled but to rise. For our hope to become heavier, more substantial, anchored more solidly in the belief that a goodness beyond our wildest dreams is coming to us when our Jesus comes in glory. ~ Stasi

What are you waiting for?

Waiting is sooo hard, isn’t it? We may giggle at how dramatic our kids or grandkids behave when they have to wait ten more minutes for something they want, but we’re just the same, aren’t we?  In my foolish impatience, I would almost prefer God’s “no” to God’s “wait” because waiting takes spiritual muscles I’d rather not flex. Right?

In the waiting, we might even feel the Lord has forgotten us. I wish we could chat with some of our Bible heros and ask them about their waiting.

Did Sarah’s hope wobble as she waited for Isaac, the long-awaited child who made her laugh? Did Anna the widow get weary of the wait as she fasted in prayed in the temple? Did Simeon? Did Joseph? What about Leah? Or Hannah? Or the woman who waited for twelve years to be healed of bleeding? Or the heroes honored in the Hall of Faith in Hebrews 11?

We’re not waiting in vain, even when it seems it. God has not forgotten. He sees.

Even when an enemy stalks you for weeks, months, or years as it was so for David. Even when worry, fear, pressure, and problems build up. Even when health fails, or finances dwindle, or dreams crumble. Even when people who should care about us work against us. Even when God allows in His permissive will for our situations to worsen or enemies to seemingly win for now. God is faithful.

Recently, in the middle of what’s been a long long struggle, I handed this hardship over to my Father and prayed a quiet “God, I don’t have any more words. Just show me Your love for me.” And, then I forgot about it and moved on.

From then, it seemed that everything went sideways. the dam burst and all hell broke loose. Later, I sat up praying in my bed in the middle of the night wrestling God about the impossibilities and feeling… disappointed.

In that frustrated place the Lord whispered to me, “Remember, you asked me to show you My love.”

It stopped me short. And, I leaned in to listen. “Well… yes Lord, I do.”

And the penny dropped.

After waiting what seemed forever, worrying and praying, and worrying and praying, God showed me that He had already been answering again and again all this time… just not as I had expected Him to do! He revealed His constant interference on my behalf that I hadn’t felt, showed His provision that I hadn’t seen, disclosed His protection that I’d somehow missed entirely. In a miracle way that is utterly impossible… But God. I was stunned. I thought for sure that it was so late that my brain was too wiped out to think straight. The numbers didn’t add up. The math didn’t make sense. The truth seemed… impossible… But, it was true!

I raised my arms in the darkness of my room, and worshiped Him with tears streaming down my face completely overwhelmed at the Father’s love. In the waiting, I hadn’t felt His goodness but it had been there the whole time. With me. I just hadn’t seen it until I asked Him to show me.

Friends, He is moving when we do not see it. He is forging steely, gritty, unyielding, defiant faith in us when the wait is long.

Building our capacity for joy and thanksgiving, stretching our spiritual muscles, expanding our hearts, lengthening our arms for worship, elongating our spirits in perseverance and endurance, widening our faith and our hope, awakening our appetites for more of Him and relationship with Him that mature, strong, steadfast, deeply rooted in Gospel truth.

Are you waiting for justice? Waiting for healing? Waiting for rest? Waiting for reconciliation? Waiting for restitution? Waiting for a resolution?

God is faithful.

He will put every enemy under His feet. He will right every wrong, fulfill every promise, provide for every need, upend all injustice, rescue every last one of those who call Him Savior. He is faithful.

Think back and remember His faithfulness in the past. The Lord has done great things for us and He will continue until He rips open the heavens and calls us to Himself!

Be exalted, O God, above the heavens; let Your glory be over all the earth… For great is Your love, reaching to the heavens; Your faithfulness reaches to the skies. — Psalm 57:5, Psalm 57:10

Ask God for hope and guidance with these prayers

Prayer For An Unwavering Hope

Father God in a world that is ever changing and in a society that has all but rejected the truth of Your Word, I thank You that You are our never-changing Saviour, Who knows the end from the beginning and has the universe in the palm of His hand. Develop in me an unwavering trust in the hope that is set before me, knowing that in Christ I have already received Your gift of eternal life, by grace – through faith in Christ Jesus my Lord.

May I learn more of Your divine character and perfect attributes – for the more I know You the more I trust You and the more I trust You the more I come to love You.

Develop in me an unwavering hope in Your promises, knowing that despite the evil and wickedness that seems to be suffocating all that is good and pure, Your plans and purposes for mankind will one day be brought to fruition, when Christ is all in all, and the whole world is brought into submission under His feet..

and He rules and reigns on earth as King of kings and Lord of lords. May I hope in You unswervingly and live my life to Your praise and glory, in Jesus name I pray,

Amen

One of the best prayers for hope and courage

Heavenly Father, my hope is in You alone as I face many storms of life that constantly seem to be battering at my door, with increasing intensity.

Lord, they seem billowing waves beating against everything that has spelt security in my life up till now and causing me to realise that without You I would be overcome in a moment of time.

Help me Lord to look to You and maintain that hope that I have in You, knowing that without You I am nothing, but with You at the helm of my life I have all I need to stand firm in the faith.

Lord thank You that by Your grace I have been made a new creation in Christ and thank You for the promise of hope that is set before me in Him.

Thank You that my hope was founded on You the moment I first believed – but forgive me Lord… for over the years I know I have drifted far away from You as I tried, in my own strength, to be the captain my own life and negotiate through its little surges and swells by my own skill and cunning.

Lord I ask Your forgiveness for being so careless with my relationship with You, for You alone deserve my praise and thanksgiving for You alone are the source of my life and the sphere of my hope – You are the faithful Shepherd of the sheep and the Rock upon Whom my hope is founded.

Lord I pray that as the intensity of life’s storms increase all around me, that I may cling ever closer to You, and rest all my hope upon You, for You alone are worthy, in Jesus name I pray,

Amen

Effective prayer for new hope

Thank You Father that my eternal future is built upon Christ Jesus my Lord and I pray that I may hold unswervingly to the hope I have in Him, knowing that He Who died on the cross to pay the price for my sins, and drew me with His cords of everlasting love into His family, is faithful to complete the good work that He started in my life for His word stands fast for ever and ever.

May I never forget on Whom my hope is founded, knowing that He became sin for me so that I might become the righteousness of God in Him.

May I stand firm on the confession of my faith and develop a living hope, that stands fast in the day of trouble – knowing that in Him I can face all that this life throws at me.

My hope is indeed built on nothing less than the Lord Jesus Christ and His righteousness – thank You for the living hope I have in Him,

Amen

Thank You Father that our hope, which is rooted and grounded in Christ Jesus is not for this world only, but has a most glorious and eternal perspective, for as Paul told the Corinthian believers that if we were only to hope in this life, we would be pitied more that anyone else, but praise be to God, that our hope is in Christ, Who has been raised from the dead.
