Parent’s Prayer Of Gratitude on Graduation Day

Celebrating graduation day in preschool

Parent’s Prayer Of Gratitude on Graduation Day

We are soon coming to the end of our current school year and in honor of the time we have spent together and what the future holds, we celebrate with a fun, simple, but very memorable preschool graduation…

See our graduation in action!

There are many different thoughts about whether or not it is “appropriate” for preschoolers to participate in a graduation program or ceremony.

I can’t answer that for you because I think it all depends on the approach you take and if your approach will be a meaningful and enriching experience for your students and their parents.

While you consider what you believe is in the best interest of your students and parents, I thought I would share what our graduation day was last year and talk a little bit about why we celebrate this day together…

Why we Celebrate

I have a small preschool and all of my students are with me from the day they enter the program until the day they leave my program.  During their time with me, my students grow and learn so much that it is simply amazing. I don’t want the last day of their time with me to just come and go as if it wasn’t significant.

I want my students and their parents to know that their time in preschool was precious and that I valued every second of it. I want to offer my students and parents the chance to celebrate the closing of their preschool years and the beginning of new experiences to come.

Our graduates are moving on to new discoveries and new accomplishments but they take with them the many discoveries and accomplishments we shared together and this is all worth celebrating…

How we Celebrate

In my preschool, all the students are involved in the graduation celebration. They all march down the red carpet together with the younger (future-graduates) leading the way.  Last year, all the children marched down the isle to the lively tune of “I’m Bringing Home My Baby Bumble Bee.”  This got our program off to a fun, relaxed, and very preschool focused start…

Preparing for Graduation Day

Before graduation day, we went outside a couple of times and practiced our walk down the isle so the children would know what to do on graduation day but my assistant and I were there to remind them as needed on the day of graduation…

Singing Songs

We also spent a couple of days practicing our songs that we planned to sing for the parents.  The songs we sing each year are usually all songs we have been singing throughout the school year so the children are already familiar with them and comfortable singing them together…

On the day of graduation, all the children sing a couple of songs together first and then our graduates sing a song on their own plus demonstrate a few things they have learned throughout the school year…

Giving Individual Recognition

And then I call up each child to the stage. Each of our future graduates get a certificate for completing a year in preschool…

And each of our graduates get their diploma for completing their preschool experience…

Sharing Special Memories

While each student is up on the stage, I take a quick minute to share something special about each child. This gives parents a little extra time to take photos and me the chance to tell how proud I am of each of my students…

Having Fun Together!

And once all the children have received their diploma or certificate, we end our celebration with a fun song the children can freely dance and have fun with…

The parents and children then all stick around and eat cake, visit with one another, and then we call it a night. I would say the entire presentation lasts about 45 minutes from walking down the isle to dancing to our last song.

Because our graduation celebration is held outdoors, we don’t try and do a slide presentation but no worries, my parents have been seeing photos of everything we do in our classroom all year long in our private online forum and here on the blog.

Wrapping it all up

This year, I might change up the order or layout or the songs we sing just a bit but what will be the same this year and every year will be the focus of our celebration.

The focus is always on the accomplishments my students made throughout the year and the great things that are ahead.

The graduation ceremony is designed to celebrate those things through a fun, relaxed, and simple preschool celebration.

PS. For those who are wondering about our graduation robes, we ordered them from Rhyme University this year. I hope I get them on time! As far as why we wear them? Because they are beautiful and it makes our graduates feel special. Besides all preschool age children love dressing up – especially to come to a celebration!

Prayers for Graduation and Graduates

Parent’s Prayer Of Gratitude on Graduation Day

Good and loving God-We thank you for the completion of another academic year, and for giving us the opportunity, short though it may have been, to play a part in the lives of our students and our new

graduates. We are grateful for your guidance and love as we shared in this important work.

Please bless and guide our graduates as they reach this end, and as they chart new beginnings.May what they have learned by being here with us allow them to truly be “women and men for

others.” May what we have learned from them enable us to be the same.

Please help them to use all that they have learned here to make the world a better place – to serve others in true solidarity and kinship – to seek ways to help the poor, the marginalized,

and those who are suffering – and to always seek the greater good.

We know that some of them will experience pain and hardship, and we know that some of
them already have, and we ask you to grant them solace and strength.

Finally, Father, we thank you for giving us the opportunity to build our community with theseyoung men and women while they are here. Though they are leaving our campus, we knowthat they will always be with us as part of the Xavier family, and we ask that the bonds that

have been created here remain strong despite any distance.

We ask all of this in your name, and in the name of your Son.

Amen.

A Benediction For Graduate Students

Gracious and caring God, our source of light,
we ask for your almighty hand to be upon these graduates as we send them forward.

With their classes and grading now complete, may they strive toward excellence in all they do. With the applause quieted, may they celebrate and lift up those around them. with the speeches concluded, may their voices rise up to pronounce peace and justice in the world.

with the fanfare ceasing, may they find bliss in future endeavors and adventures. with advanced degrees and credentials in hand, may their achievements grow and enrich their communities. As Jesuit educated, may they discover Holiness in the midst of life's blessings as well life's challenges.

As their careers commence,

may they conduct their life's work with exceptional skill and integrity inspired to Go Forth and Set the World of Fire

from this day onward.

Grace be to them.

Deeper Waters

Fr. Ronald Rolheiser in his book on prayer writes the following words:

There is a beautiful text in the Gospels that captures, in stark metaphor, our need for prayer. One morning, after Simon Peter, James, and John have “toiled all night” and caught nothing – no fish, only their own emptiness – Jesus comes to them and invites them to go out to the deeper waters, to “put out into the deep.” They do, and they catch so many fish their boat begins to sink.

Years ago, each of you accepted an invitation to put out into the deep. In your chosen field or profession, you chose to explore deeper waters in search of more – more knowledge, sharper skills, deeper understanding.

Our Jesuit way of proceeding, our Xavier Way, frames an understanding of this encounter with the Divine in the depths. We see God in all things. Your explorations necessarily showed you a facet of God's love for his creation. And your relationship deepened, as a result.

Thus, our celebration here today represents the culmination your years-long prayer. This benediction, then, simply serves as a communal capstone to the prayer that you have prayed through your many labors.

In the faith tradition that speaks best to you, I invite you now to bow your head in prayer:

Creator of all that is

Bless and approve our offering here today,

The degrees that we've earned as proof of our deep questing,

The fruits of our long academic, physical, and spiritual labors.

In the days, months, and years ahead,

Grant that we may come to know more clearly

The purpose that our labors, our learning, our degrees

Will play in your divine plan,

To your greater glory.

And may our boats be filled to overflowing.

In your name we pray,

Amen.

Blessing of Graduates

Let us unite our hearts in prayer and entrust to the hands of the Lord

those who will be graduated tomorrow.

May God who began this good work in you carry it through to completion,

enabling you to use your talents to the fullest.

May God give you the grace to make wise choices and to be faithful to your commitments,

always confident in the support of those who love you.

May God bless you with discomfort at easy answers, half-truths, and superficial relationships,

so that you will live deep within your heart.

May God bless you with anger at injustice, oppression, and exploitation of people,

so that you will work for justice, equality, and peace.

May God bless you with tears to shed for those who suffer from pain, rejection, starvation, and war, so that you will reach out your hand

to comfort them and change their pain into joy.

May God bless you with the foolishness to think that you can make a difference in the world, so that you will do the things
which others tell you cannot be done.

May your integrity be a gift to the world and may the Spirit of God be with you always.

Amen.

A Graduate's Prayer

Dear Lord, As I look toward the future Bright hope conducts this prayer, For I know the plans You have for me Were wrought with divine care. Holy Spirit, lead me. Let me run at Your command, Yet be still and know that You are God When trouble is close at hand. Your Word will be a lamp for me, A guide to light my way, A solid place to set my feet,

A compass when I stray.

May I live my life to praise You, Not for fortune, nor for fame, May everything I say and do

Bring glory to Your name.

May my eyes stay fixed upon You As I seek the way that's pure, Tasting Your love and goodness

Sleeping and rising secure.

Planted by Your living streams I'll delight in all Your ways, Hidden by Your sheltering wings

With new mercies for each day.

Even in a dangerous land When storms threaten to destroy, At the cross I'll stand upon the Rock

My Strength, my Hope, my Joy.

Dear Lord, show me Your favor, At all times keep me blessed, May Your face ever shine upon me,

With peace and perfect rest.

A Commencement Benediction

Gracious and Loving God,

We ask, now, for your almighty hand to be upon our graduates as they and their families celebrate this grand milestone.

May they find comfort from our community's continued embrace and support as they journey through life.

May they find strength in the excellence of their academic preparation and the long line of the Jesuit educational tradition – for with it, today, they join a nearly 500 year old network of local, national and global alumni who are their kindred companions.

Bless their lives from this day on with goodness and success.

Enable them

– to stay true to their dreams for your greater glory,

– to discern what is right, good and just, and

– to use their gifts wisely and in service to others.

Empower them to walk into the future with faith, hope, and great love guided by your light so that they may use their talents to, in the words of St. Ignatius Loyola, “Go forth and set the world on fire.” Grace be to them, grace be to us all.

Amen.

A Graduation Prayer

“God, today is any other. The sun rises. The winds blow. Rain falls. Rain does not fall. People are born. They laugh. They cry. They dance. They die. Today “chronos” time is as it has been since You gave it beginning, and will be as it is until you bring things to an end. Today is any other.

Today is also fresh and new, and no other day. Today is a “kairos” moment of opportunity that has come and will pass in a moment. Today is a passage from one epoch to another. Today is a gift from you. Grant grace to see it and seize it.

Today is a graduation, a passage, a completion, an inauguration. Today we pray for all those who have met the challenge and kept the faith to the commitments of their studies. Now they have a new “kairos” before them. We first offer thanks for the success of their journey.

We thank for you granting them focus and direction and then strength and endurance. You created the knowledge and understanding they have mastered. You have created the curiosity and capacity for determination that led them in pursuit. All these good things came from you.

Thank you.

Today we also pray for tomorrow. This graduation opens another door to another time. As you have led in the past, lead now into the future. Give them focus and clarity and a calling from you to understand their purpose and the courage to respond and step toward that purpose.

We pray in the words of scripture: 'Bless them indeed. Expand their territory. Let your hand be with them. Keep them evil, that they will not cause or experience pain.'

Today, we bless our graduates”

Benediction

As your classes and grading are now complete, may you strive toward excellence in all you do. As the speeches conclude, may your voices rise up to pronounce justice and peace in the world.

As the fanfares cease, may you sing of joy, even in the dark and lonely places. As the applause quiets, may you celebrate and lift up those around you. As you graduate today, may your achievements grow and cause growth in your communities.

And may we all know of the overwhelming blessings of the One who created all things.

In Gratitude, We Pray

God of joy and hope, We thank you for this time of graduation.

Your spirit of wisdom has empowered our hard work and discipline in such a way that our hunger for learning has been nourished with knowledge, discovery, creativity, and determination.

As we prepare to walk across the stage to receive our diplomas, let us walk in prayerful gratitude for the many blessings that have made this moment real and filled with great potential.

In gratitude, we pray for our families and the many who have sacrificed and worked to see us to this hopeful moment.
In gratitude, we pray for the professors and administrators who have challenged, cared, and crafted us along this academic journey.
In gratitude, we pray for fellow students who have taught us more about friendship, collaboration, and sharing.

God, even as we have faced challenges and accomplished much, we understand that our lives move into a new chapter where there will be more challenges to face and more will be demanded of us in order to accomplish good things. May your grace cover our anxieties and fears so that we may stay encouraged about the future.

Give us patience and hope to energize our search for work that is just and makes proper use of our gifts.
Give us courage to face the challenges of carving out a place in society where we might live in peace, service, and gratitude.
Give us strength to resist the temptations of greed, laziness, pride, and envy as we strive to do and be our best.

May your spirit guide us as we unfold the next chapters of our lives. Help us to enliven hope in the world and bring good things to Your Kingdom. And, may this celebration be a reflection of the blessings that we find in knowing and loving you. For this is the day that You have made.
We are glad and rejoice in it!

How To Make Graduation Day Ceremony In School [Template 3]

Parent’s Prayer Of Gratitude on Graduation Day

Graduation day is considered one of the memorable days of a child during his/her college days, where they finished their studies and a further step into professions carrier.

In order to make this event lovelier in early childhood, these days we come across even in schools, children after completing pre- primary, before getting into level one, they have a wonderful opportunity to go through the experience of graduation.

There are a number of ways and methods this function is organized, here I have given a simple format for a school that conducts graduation day for the first time, you can modify according to your needs.

Note: All students must be present, be wearing their academic dress (Graduation dress) and in their allocated seats in the veranda 15 minutes prior to the start of the ceremony. Ceremony staff will then provide a briefing (Instructions if need be)

1. May I ask the Graduation kids must assemble in the escort place?

(5 minutes prior to the official commencement of the ceremony – Procession along with Guest starts)

2. May I request the guests to stand while the Academic Procession enters the Hall and remain to stand until the President is seated.

1. Introduction

Graduation day celebration marks in the heart and mind of the child a greater achievement done during the course of time of his/her studies.

Whether it’s from high school or a college commencement, is not only a time to reflect on the past while planning ahead for the future, it’s a time to celebrate accomplishments and find inspiration for life beyond the big day.

Graduation signals a time to plan for the future, whether it’s more school, a break or entering a new life. It creates a sense of joy in the hearts of every child and parent present in the function.

We feel honored to escort our Chief Guest Mr . . . . . . . . . ., Our beloved Principal and UKG graduates to today’s event. (Escorting

  • May I request the Guests please be seated)

2. Lighting Of The Lamp

“Children are nobody else. They are a resemblance of God on the earth”. Those who realize this fact are true devotees of love. Our devotion to God never begins without the presence of light, which is the presence of divine himself. Now, I kindly invite the chief guest  . . . . . . . . To light the lamp and welcome God amidst us.

3. Prayer

“Prayer simply means a petition, but greater it means a meditation”. A meditation of thoughts, words, and actions. Let us raise all our hearts to submit our prayers to God and also to thank him for all the answered intentions.
4. Bible Reading (Your Own Choice)

“I thank you with a sincere heart for teaching me your upright judgments” Ps:119:7
Bible, the foremost instructor, and the prime teacher help us walk our every way with faithful principles and with the guidance of God, our supreme principal. They create fine arts in our hearts that pave a path to a colorful life. Let us lend our ears to the holy words from the holy Bible.

5. Welcome Address

“Every being has a great blessing of being a child at one stage of their life, as, their age reflects a radiant of pure love and their eye elevates calmness and serenity”.

Even a slight smiling curve by our lips draws an invitation indicating a grand welcome to the viewers. With such pride quality of a good heart, we have Master . . . . . . . . . . and Miss . . . . . . . . . .

to welcome the gathering.

6.  Friary Dance

Our fingers are petals of our flowery hand; our feet are medals of this earthly land; our movements are moving monuments of this wonderful world. I’m glad to call our KG kids on the stage as a proof to these words with their fairy dance.

7. Graduation Ceremony

The time has come! The time has come! For the stone to receive its reward for bearing the pain of chiseling! Our UKG little ladies and small gentlemen are ready to get their graduation as the dawn is ready to ride the sun in the sky. Their joy is uncountable; their pride is immeasurable. Before they could lose their patience, I humbly invite our chief guest Mr . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . to symbolize their graduation by giving away their certificates.

THE GRADUATION CEREMONY

The President of the Academic will say,

  • MC: May I now request “the students please stand”. All graduands must stand.
  • MC: May I request the principal to admit the graduands to graduation.

The principal will then confer the awards by saying

  • Principal: “On the certification of the President of the Academic, I confer the respective, certificates on the candidates . . . . . . . . . . On behalf of the . . . . . . . . . . . . .  (School Name). I offer my congratulations to you all.”

The students have now become candidates of . . . . . . . . . . . . . . (School name) entering into the temple of learning for the class Grade I

  • MC: May now I request the students to come in line to receive the awards from Dr . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .. .  the chief guest of the day.

(Students are then directed onto the stage to be congratulated by the principal. Ceremony staff will ask the students to stand, file their seating row and move towards the stage for a group photo)

  • MC: May I now request the graduates to be seated in their respective places?

8. Chief Guest’s Address

“We may be aware of the goal but has no idea of the way”. It is through the guiding and inspiring words of our elders in experience help us to find the way to our success. I kindly invite the chief guest Mr/Mrs. . . . . . . . . . . . . . .  to address the gathering.

9. Vote of Thanks

As the Lord loves a cheerful giver, so wise a cheerful thanks, giver. It is a joyous acknowledgment to give thanks for all the hearts that have rendered their service to make this day a great one. I call Mr . . . . . . . . . . . . . . and Ms . . . . . . . . . To deliver the vote of thanks.

Conclusion

Graduation day is a special day that which makes the child feel to stepping into further learning from pre level to primary level. This may be a small event, but it would create a great impact in the hearts and mind of the child for future learning. Thank you, dear parents and friends, for your presence this morning for making this day a memorable one.

Prayer for Daily Gratitude and Thankfulness

Heavenly Father, my day-to-day routine is so busy. So much so that I sometimes forget to stop to thank you for all that is good in my life.

My blessings are many and my heart is filled with gratefulness for the gift of living, for the ability to love and be loved, for the opportunity to see the everyday wonders of creation. I want to thank you, for those things in my life that are less than I would hope them to be.

Sometimes life is very hard, and it’s a struggle to keep my head above water. Things that seem challenging, unfair, or difficult often hurts.

When my heart feels stretched and empty, and pools of tears form in my weary eyes, still I will rejoice that You are as near to me as my next breath and that in the midst of turbulence, I am growing and learning. In the silence of my soul, I thank you most of all for Your unconditional love.

Prayer for the Gratitude of God’s Unfailing Love

Lord, I am so thankful for the relationship that I have with You. Precious Lord, You initiated this relationship by what Your Son endeavored to accomplish, paying the price for my sins and those of my brothers and sisters, thus redeeming and reconciling me.

You know the times I have been ungrateful, held ill thoughts toward You and others. You know the times I complain and grumble about life and its circumstances, but You love me regardless even when I’m ungrateful.

I am thankful Lord for everything that You allow to cross my path. I am thankful for the decisions that You allow me to make, and the life lessons that come from these decisions.

I’m thankful, Lord, that I do not have to live under condemnation anymore, and that You have truly set me free! Amen.

God of all blessings, source of all life, giver of all grace in all things, I want to thank you for the gift of life, for the breath that sustains life, for the food of this earth that nurtures life, and for the love of family and friends without which there would be little happiness in life.

I thank you for the beauty of creation of this great Earth, for the joy that the ear may hear, for the unknown that we cannot behold filling the universe with wonder, and for the expanse of space that draws us beyond the definitions of our selves.

Everything in my life, and the life that surrounds me was drawn and created by Your own hand. For this, I am grateful. Amen.
