Parent’s Prayer for Christian Children

Ancient Christian Prayers for Children, Parents and Families

Parent’s Prayer for Christian Children

Learning about Jesus is a lifelong endeavor for any adult. When it comes to teaching kids about Jesus, the task can often feel overwhelming. Where should a Christian parent begin?

Many parents turn to family devotionals, kids Bible stories, or kids Bible lessons to help shape their faith. While these are important tools, they sometimes do more to tell about God than to show God for who He is. However, there is one special way of learning about Jesus that all of us parents can do: pray with our children.

Prayer is one of the most practical ways to practice your faith in front of your children and a powerful way to share your faith with them.

If you’re me, however, freestyling prayer on a regular basis doesn’t come naturally, and it’s a difficult skill to teach your children. I’m not alone, either.

After all, the disciples asked Jesus to teach them to pray (Luke 11:1) and he didn’t respond by telling them to wing it. He taught them a prayer:

“Father, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come. Give us each day our daily bread. Forgive us our sins, for we also forgive everyone who sins against us. And lead us not into temptation.”

Luke 11:2–4 (NIV)

Prayers

When it comes to learning how to pray, one of the greatest resources we have are ancient prayers. Prayers have been written down and recited for thousands of years. In fact, in the ancient world, stories, ideas, traditions, and even history were preserved by oral tradition primarily through songs and poetry.

Why are written prayers helpful? Often a Bible lesson gives a short description of what God is , similar to a dictionary definition in the way we use it. But prayers are not dictionary definitions at all. When we hear someone pray or read a prayer they have written, it is watching someone paint a picture of what God looks to them.

Prayers are not a definitive teaching about God, but they are very descriptive reflections about Him. Because they are more descriptive, there is a prayer for every situation.

Ancient Prayers for Children, Parents, Families

When looking to recite ancient prayers with your children, for your children, or as a family, begin with Scripture. The Psalms are ancient prayers, and un kids Bible lessons and stories, this biblical poetry can help children learn the rhythms and structures of prayer, which will help them make their own prayers eventually.

Prayer for Forgiveness

Psalm 51:10-12 (NIV)

Create in me a pure heart, O God,

and renew a steadfast spirit within me.

Do not cast me from your presence

or take your Holy Spirit from me.

Restore to me the joy of your salvation

and grant me a willing spirit, to sustain me.

Prayer for Wisdom

Psalm 141:3 (NIV)

Set a guard over my mouth, Lord;

keep watch over the door of my lips.

One of my favorite prayers to read daily is commonly attributed to Francis of Assisi, a monk, philosopher, and founder of the Franciscan Order of friars, who lived between 1182–1226. Even though this prayer doesn’t come directly from Scripture, it is still biblical principles, making it a good addition to family devotions.

A prayer of St. Francis of Assisi:

“Lord, make me an instrument of your peace; where there is hatred, let me sow love; where there is injury, pardon; where there is discord, union; where there is doubt, faith; where there is despair, hope; where there is darkness, light; and where there is sadness, joy.

“O Divine Master, grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console; to be understood, as to understand; to be loved, as to love; for it is in giving that we receive, it is in pardoning that we are pardoned, and it is in dying that we are born to eternal life.” Amen.

When to Say Prayers

Paul wrote to the church in Thessalonica and encouraged them to “pray without ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17), which indicates that prayer is not a one-and-done thing. It is part of our daily life. Taking time out several times a day helps teach kids about Jesus by asking them to think about and talk to Jesus regularly.

We pray before meals not because it makes the food any different, but because it makes us stop and remember that God provides for us. It teaches kids to be grateful to God and to others – and to show our gratitude in prayer.

Not praying before meals doesn’t make you a bad parent, it just means you may have missed an opportunity to teach gratitude to God and how to trust in God on a daily basis.

Praying in the morning is a good priority. It allows you to teach children to seek Jesus first and ask for guidance rather than only praying when there is trouble. Praying before bed is very important though.

For young children especially, being alone in their bedroom at night time can be very scary, especially if they have experienced fear earlier in the day.

Giving them words to pray, whether it’s through scripture or some of these ancient prayers, may help them have words to talk to God about their own fears and find the peace they need that allows them (and you, their parents) to get restful sleep.

The goal of using ancient written prayers for Christian parenting is not that the words are somehow magical. They simply provide trustworthy words, collected from believers throughout history, for when you or your children don’t have words of your own.

They also offer a source of inspiration for your children to eventually improvise and create their own prayers of love and trust to God. Written prayers will not stifle their creativity or make them think there is only one way to pray to God.

It will fuel their imaginations as you show them how to connect with God their Heavenly Father and to tell Him all the things that are on their hearts.

A Prayer Guide for Parents

Parent’s Prayer for Christian Children

  • Jamie Rohrbaugh
  • 2017Apr 18

Have you been concerned about your family lately? So often, we remember to pray for other people, but we forget to pray for ourselves and for those closest to us.

We simply forget the power of prayer and that God longs for us to be in prayer with Him! He especially desires for each of us to be in prayer about our family, the people closest to us on this side of heaven.

To help you pray for yourself and for your family, here is a short, bullet-point seven-day prayer guide that covers nearly every aspect of life.

Day 1: Honor

Scripture: “Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long upon the land which the Lord your God is giving you.” (Exodus 20:12)

Pray for your parents:

  • Ask God to bless them.
  • Pray that they would be treated with honor, dignity, and respect by everyone they encounter.
  • Pray that they also would honor all people.

Pray for yourself:

  • Pray that you would see your parents the same way God sees them and love them the way He loves them.
  • Pray that you would always show honor and respect to your parents.
  • Ask God to help you forgive all their failings from your heart.

Pray for your children:

  • Ask God to help your kids show godly honor to you (and any other parents) the way God’s Word prescribes.
  • Pray for your children to live long lives in the land their Father gives them.
  • Ask the Lord to give your children a keen sense of honor toward all their authority figures (pastors, teachers, etc.).

Day 2: Walk with God

Scripture: “Jesus said to him, ‘You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind. This is the first and great commandment.’” (Matthew 22:37)

Pray for your parents:

  • If they are not already saved, ask the Lord to save them and draw them to Himself.
  • Ask God to help your parents to be hungry and thirsty for Jesus.
  • Pray for your parents to be people of prayer and of God’s Word.

Pray for yourself:

  • Pray that you would strive to love the Lord with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength.
  • Pray that Jesus would refill you with His Spirit and wisdom every day.
  • Ask God to make you a person of prayer and a student of His Word.
  • Ask God to show you how to disciple your children, so they also will love God with all their heart.

Pray for your children:

  • Pray for your children to be full of the Holy Spirit from the womb (or from now on).
  • Ask God to help your children hear the voice of the Lord behind them saying “This is the way; walk in it” and that they would never turn to the right or the left.
  • Pray that your children would have a magnificent obsession with the Son of God.

Day 3: Health and safety

Scripture: “Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways.” (Psalm 91:9-11)

Pray for your parents:

  • Ask God to send His angels to watch over them, protecting them and all their belongings.
  • Ask Him to keep them healthy in every way, including by protecting their eyesight, brain function, and memory.
  • Ask God to help your parents make wise decisions regarding exercise, nutrition, and health care.

Pray for yourself:

  • Ask the Lord to send angels to protect you and every building and vehicle you are in.
  • Ask Him to help you make wise decisions regarding your own exercise, nutrition, and health care.
  • Ask Him to give you wisdom to guide your children’s time, so they will be healthy and not overloaded or stressed out.
  • Ask Father to protect you and your family from all diseases, keeping you completely healthy.

Pray for your children:

  • Pray angels would guard your children with a flaming sword that turns every way, turning them back from any dangerous path.
  • Pray your children would fill every inner craving with Jesus so they would not be tempted to look for sinful satisfaction.
  • Pray they would know God’s love intimately, and that they would be immune to every lie the enemy tries to tell them about who and what they are.

Day 4: Finances

Scripture: “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 4:19)

Pray for your parents:

Pray for yourself:

  • Ask God to provide richly for every need you and your family have.
  • Ask Him to help you steward His resources well.
  • Ask the Lord to give you the motivation to diligently take care of your finances.
  • Ask the Lord to show you how to teach your children a good work ethic and how to handle money.

Pray for your children:

  • Pray that your children would enjoy the process of financial stewardship; but that they would always love God, rather than money.
  • Ask God to give your children profitable business ideas even while they’re young, if He wants them to be entrepreneurs.
  • Ask God to give your children an aptitude for math and business.
  • Ask the Lord to show your children in practical ways that He will always provide for their needs.

Day 5: Relationships

Scripture: “…[T]hat they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me.” (John 17:21)

Pray for your parents:

  • Pray that all their relationships would be godly and harmonious.
  • Pray they would forgive all who have hurt them, reconciling relationships wherever possible.
  • Pray they would be kind and loving, speaking words of life to all people.
  • Ask the Lord to send your parents close friends with whom they can share their lives.

Pray for yourself:

  • Pray that you would forgive from your heart all those who have hurt you.
  • Pray that the Lord would show you how to heal any broken relationships.
  • Pray you would model humility, kindness, love, and encouragement for your children in all your relationships.
  • Pray for close, covenant friends with whom you can share your life.

Pray for your children:

  • Pray for God to lead each of your children to the spouse He has for them at the right time.
  • Pray that your children would remain sexually pure until marriage.
  • Pray for each of your children to love others and be friendly.
  • Pray that the Lord would bring your children the right friends and deliver them from the wrong friends.

Day 6: Use of time

Scripture: “See then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time, because the days are evil” (Ephesians 5:15-16).

Pray for your parents:

  • Pray that your parents would use their time wisely.
  • Pray that they would remain occupied, useful, and fully engaged in life throughout their latter years.
  • Pray that they would walk fully in their calling so they will have no regrets.

Pray for yourself:

  • Pray that the Lord would help you seek Him first every day, and that He would help you accomplish all that needs to be done after that.
  • Ask God to order your steps according to His Word.
  • Pray you would know clearly when to say “yes” versus “no” to commitments for both yourself and your children.

Pray for your children:

  • Ask the Lord to show your children the value of their spare moments.
  • Pray that they would develop godly pastimes that will benefit their lives in the long run.
  • Ask God to give your children a spirit of excellence.
  • Pray your children would be diligent in their schoolwork and other responsibilities.

Day 7: Legacy

Scripture: “… holding fast the word of life, so that I may rejoice in the day of Christ that I have not run in vain or labored in vain” (Philippians 2:16).

Pray for your parents:

  • Pray they would stand strong in the Lord all the days of their lives.
  • Pray that they would leave a godly inheritance to their children and grandchildren.
  • Pray they would fully perform God’s purpose for their lives, leaving no task undone for which they were created.

Pray for yourself:

Pray for your children:

  • Pray that your children would know exactly what God has called them to do from an early age.
  • Ask God to give your children influence for Him.
  • Pray that they would be filled with the spirit and power of Elijah, to turn the hearts of the fathers to the children, the children to the fathers, and the disobedient to the wisdom of the just.
  • Ask Father to give your children His heart for the nations.

Beloved, these prayers are all Scripture. As you pray through each day’s list, expect to see God answer His Word. He is ready, willing, and eager to send help to you, your parents, and your children.

Parent’s Prayer for Christian Children

A Christian child's prayer is Christian prayer recited primarily by children that is typically short, rhyming or has a memorable tune. It is said before bedtime, to give thanks for a meal, or as a nursery rhyme.

Many of these prayers have a long tradition and come directly from the Bible. While termed “Christian child's prayer”, the examples here are almost exclusively used and promoted by Protestants.

Catholics and Orthodox Christians have their own set of children's prayers, often invoking Mary the Mother of Jesus, the saints and including a remembrance of the dead.

Some adult prayers are equally popular with children, such as the Golden Rule (Luke 6:31, Matthew 7:12), the Doxology, the Serenity Prayer, John 3:16 and, for older children, The Lord's Prayer and Psalm 23.

Now I Lay Me Down to Sleep

original version Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep; if I die before I wake, I pray for Lord my soul to take. Amen

More recent variants:

Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord, my soul to keep; Guide me safely through the night and wake me with the morning's light Amen Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord, my soul to keep; Keep me safe through the night and wake me with the morning light If I should die before I wake, I pray for Lord my soul to take. Amen Now I lay me down to sleep, I'll assume I'll rise rested and at peace. For I know all day I tried my best To treat all others with respect. Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord, my soul to keep; Angels watch me through the night and keep me in their blessed sight. Amen Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep; If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. If I should live another day I pray the Lord to guide my way Now I lay me down to sleep, I pray the Lord my soul to keep; If I should die before I wake, I pray the Lord my soul to take. There are four corners on my bed, There are four angels over head, Matthew, Mark, Luke and John,

God bless this bed that I lay on.

God Is Great

  • With these additional lines, it is sung to “Twinkle Twinkle Little Star”:

God is great and God is good.
And we thank him for our food.

By his hands we all are fed. Thank you, Lord, for our daily bread. God is great and God is good,

And we thank him for our food.Amen.

Thank You Lord

Thank you my God for the day you have given us! Thank you because you are great and worthy. Thank you for another day of living, Thank you for each breath we have taken Thank you for dying on that cross my God For our sins! Forgive our sins, Lord

Amen

Come Lord Jesus

Come Lord Jesus, be our guest,
let this food to us be blessed, Amen

A Slovak Lutheran tradition adds a second verse: And may there be a goodly share

on every table everywhere.

Missouri Synod Lutheran Church: Come Lord Jesus, be our guest,

let these gifts to us be blessed, Amen

Regent's prayer

Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon Thee, and we beg Thy blessings upon us, our parents,

our teachers and our country.

Philmont grace

For food, for raiment, for life, for opportunity, for friendship and fellowship,

we thank you, O Lord.

S Bar F grace

For the gifts of food and freedom, And the hills to roam. For the crimson sunsets And the Earth, our home For the stars at night And the gentle winds in the trees

We thank you, Great Spirit, for all of these

Jesus Loves Me

Jesus loves me – this I know, For the Bible tells me so, Little ones to Him belong,

They are weak but He is strong.

Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me. Yes, Jesus loves me.

The Bible tells me so.

Jesus loves me, he who died, Heaven's gate to open wide. He will wash away my sin;

Let his little child come in.

Jesus loves me, loves me still, Though I'm very weak and ill. From his shining throne on high,

Comes to watch me where I lie.

Jesus loves me! He will stay Close beside me all the way Then his little child will take

Up to heaven for his dear sake.

Jesus Loves the Little Children

Jesus loves the little children, All the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white, All are precious in his sight,

Jesus loves the little children of the world.

  • Words written by preacher Clare Herbert Woolston (1856–1927)
  • Sung to the 1864 Civil War tune “Tramp! Tramp! Tramp!” by George Fredrick Root
  • Inspired by Matthew 19:14: Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of heaven belongs to such as these.”
  • Some versions change Woolston's original words slightly by inserting the color “brown” between “red” and “yellow.”
  • Some modern versions read 'Ev'ry colour, ev'ry race, all are cover'd by His grace' instead of 'Red and yellow, black, and white, all are precious in His sight.'
  • Alternate lyrics:

Jesus loves the little children, All the children of the world. Fat and skinny, short and tall,

Jesus loves them one and all,

OR

Jesus died for all the children, All the children of the world. Red and yellow, black and white, All are precious in his sight,

Jesus died for all the children of the world.

He's got the Whole World in his hands

He's got the whole world in his hands. He's got you and me, brother in his hands. He's got you and me, sister in his hands. He's got the little bitty baby in his hands.

He's got the whole world in his hands.

Michael Row The Boat Ashore

Michael, row the boat ashore, Alleluia!
Michael, row the boat ashore, Alleluia!

Sister help to trim the sails, Alleluia!
Sister help to trim the sails, Alleluia!

The river is deep and the river is wide, Alleluia!
Milk and honey on the other side, Alleluia!

Jordan's river is chilly and cold, Alleluia!
Chills the body, but not the soul, Alleluia!

If you get there before I do. Alleluia!
Tell my people I'm coming too. Alleluia!

Strength and wholeness. I shall run and not be weary. I shall walk and not faintCome Gracious Spirit, Heavenly Dove,
With light and comfort from above.

Be Thou our Guardian, Thou our Guide,
Stay close by every child’s side. Amen!

Prayers for Children in Trouble

There are times in life when are children may stray from the Lord’s path. What follows are prayers for children who have lost their way, and need God’s guidance and blessings.

Dear Lord, you have witnessed the rebelliousness of youth since the very beginnings of time. You understand a parent’s anguish and helplessness over the actions of his child.

Please help us to transform our anger and frustration into loving care for our child who has gone astray. Help us begin to mend our broken fences and heal our broken hearts. Bless our child and also help him to mend the error of his ways. Help and bless us all to do right in Your name and restore us to peace and tranquility.

“Forgive the rebellious sins of youth …”

[Psalm 25:7]

Blessed is the Child of LightWho doth seek his heavenly FatherFor he shall have eternal life.He that dwelleth in the secret placeOf the Most HighShall abide under the shadowof the Almighty. For he shall give his Angels charge over thee

To keep thee in all thy ways.

Know ye that the Lord hath beenOur dwelling placeIn all generations. Before the mountains were brought forth,Or ever he had formedThe earth and the worldEven from everlasting to everlasting,Hath there been loveBetween the Heavenly Father

And his children.

And how shall this love be severed? From the beginningUntil the ending of timeDoth the holy flame of loveEncircle the headsOf the Heavenly FatherAnd the Children of Light:

How then shall this love be extinguished?

For not as a candle doth it burn,Nor yet as a fire raging in the forest.Lo, it burneth with the flameOf Eternal Light,

And that flame cannot be consumed.

Prayers for Children Who Are Angry or Depressed

Here is another prayer found in an out-of-print prayer book for a child that is upset or facing a difficult situation.

Heavenly Father, my child is your greatest gift, and my biggest challenge!I know my child is truly distressed,

and yet I am at my wit’s end to find a peaceful resolution.

I feel helpless and frustrated.I ask myself, What would my Heavenly Father

do in His infinite wisdom and beneficence?

Lord, come into my heart and mind, and share Your loving wisdom with me!Help my child to heal his pain, and help meto become as loving and wise a parent, as You are for usYour children. Thank You Lord, for

hearing me and coming to my aid! Bring your loving Peace to me and my child today.

Amen.

My children, do you know that the EarthAnd all that dwells thereinIs but a reflection of the

Kingdom of the Heavenly Father?

And as you are suckled and comfortedBy your mother when a child,But you go to join your father in the fieldsWhen you grow up,So do the Angels of the Earthly MotherGuide your stepsToward him who is your Father,And all his holy Angels,That you may know your true home

And become true Sons of God.

While we are children,We will see the rays of the sun,But not the Power which created it;While we are children,We will hear the sounds of the flowing brook,But not the Love which created it;While we are children,We will see the stars,But not the hand which scatters themThrough the sky,

As the farmer scatters the seed.

Only through the CommunionsWith the Angels of the Heavenly Father,Will we learn to see the unseen,To hear that which cannot be heard,

And to speak the unspoken word.

Saturday Evening

I DESIRE to offer unto thee, O Lord, my evening sacrifice of praise and thanksgiving for all thy mercies bestowed upon me. I bless thee for my creation, preservation, and, above all, for my redemption by our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.

I bless thee for bringing me safely to the conclusion of this day, and humbly implore the pardon of all the sins I have been guilty of, whether in thought, word, or deed.

Have mercy upon me, O God, and do thou free me from all the sins I have committed, and deliver me from the punishment I have deserved.

O thou blessed Guide of my youth, give me thy grace to seek after thee in my early years, that thou mayest not be unmindful of me in the time of age. Keep me from the evil of the world, and carry me safe through it to thy kingdom. Take care of me, and provide for me, and dispose of me in the world, as shall be most for thy glory and my good.

Leave me not to myself, in the hands of my own counsel, but let me be taught of God. Take thou, O Lord, the gracious charge, and guidance, and government of me, and fix in my heart thy fear and love, and direct all my ways to please not myself but thee.

O redeem me from the power of my sins by thy grace, and from the punishment of them by thy Blood, and by both bring me to thy glory.

I DESIRE, O my God, to give up myself wholly to thee. I would be thine, and only thine, for ever. O my God, my Saviour, turn not away thy face from a poor child that seeks thee. Give me to know that I am nothing, and can do nothing, of myself; and that if ever I am thine, I must be wholly indebted to thee for it.

Let me be entirely devoted unto thee, and do thou make me obedient and faithful unto the end. Make me to remember thee in my bed, and think upon thee when I am waking; thou hast preserved me from the dangers of the day past, thou hast been my support ever since I was born.

Under the shadow of thy wings let me pass this night in comfort and peace. Keep me both in body and soul, and give me such rest as my body has need of. And grant, O Lord, that when I lay down my body in the grave, my soul may rise to life immortal, through the merits and intercession of thy dear Son, my Saviour, Jesus Christ. Amen.

“Our Father,” etc.

A Prayer for Relations, Friends, &c., to be used after Morning and Evening Prayer

VOUCHSAFE, O Lord, to bless my father and mother, and all my relations, with the fear of thy name. Bless them in their souls and bodies; perfect them in every good word and work, and be thou their guide unto death.

Bless my friends, forgive my enemies; and grant unto all mankind the knowledge and love of thee. Have mercy upon all who are afflicted in mind, body, or estate. Give them patience under their sufferings, and a happy issue all their afflictions; and receive them and me at last into thy blessed kingdom, for Jesus Christ's sake. Amen.

Grace before Meals

O LORD, I beseech thee, give thy blessing with what thy mercy has here provided me with, that whether I eat or drink, or whatsoever I do, I may do all to thy glory and praise, through Jesus Christ my Lord. Amen.

After Meals

O LORD my God, I bless thy holy name for this mercy, which I have now received from thy bounty and goodness. Feed now my soul with thy grace, that I may make it my meat and drink to do thy gracious will, through Jesus Christ my Saviour. Amen.

Parents Prayers for Their Children: 7 Requests to God

Parent’s Prayer for Christian Children

In the Bible we read “Behold, children are a heritage from the Lord, the fruit of the womb a reward.” (Psalm 127:3)  Children are one of the biggest ministries you will ever have.  Our precious little ones are a gift from God and we should be in prayer for them daily.  Here are 7 prayers that you can pray for your kids.

Salvation

Heavenly Father,

You are the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.  I pray that You watch over my children and use me as a vessel to showcase the love of Christ to them.  I pray for their salvation, Lord.  I pray that You will draw them to You so that they can understand how deep Your love is for them.  Give me time every day with them, Father.

Give me time where I can read the Bible with them and pray with them.  Lord, I want them to know You I know You.  It breaks my heart to know that some kids I see will reject you as they grow older, Lord.  Please let it not be so with mine!  I pray that they will continue to walk with You as they grow older.

  I love You, Father!  Amen

Health

Gracious Father,

I pray for my child today.  He/she is struggling with the medications the doctors gave us.  Lord, the side effects are almost as bad as the sickness.  It hurts to see him/her in agony.  Father, You have the power to heal anything by just thinking it.

If it is Your will, please heal my son/daughter.  I want nothing more than my child to be happy and running around with their friends in the back yard again.  Please, Father, hear my prayer and petition now.  I love you, Lord!  May Your will be done this day.

  Amen

School

Dear Lord,

Thank you for another day of life with my kids.  I pray that You will watch over them as they are in school today.  Give them a safe journey to and from school on the bus.  I pray that You will keep me safe everywhere I go, as well.

Bring me home safe to my children.  I pray that You will empower my kids to stand boldly for You as they encounter sin and depravity in school.

I pray that the joy they have for Jesus will shine bright today!  Thank you for my children, Father!  I love them and I love You!  Amen

Choices

“Lord, I pray that they fight against peer-pressure and stay away from drugs.”

Holy Father,

My teenagers are in one of the most difficult times in their lives.  I pray that they will stand up for what they believe in, Lord.  I pray that the Holy Spirit will convict them on every decision they make, so that they make good choices.

Lord, I pray that they fight against peer-pressure and stay away from drugs.  Lord, I pray that you watch over them and guide them safely today.  I pray my kids can learn the value suffering for the sake of Christ.  I pray that they make decisions today their faith in You.

Thank you for my kids, Lord!  Amen

Purity

Merciful Lord,

I pray for the purity of my children.  Lord, all of the hormonal changes are good because they are from You.  I pray that my kids will stay strong and wait until marriage before enjoying the blessings of the bedroom.

I pray that they abstain from all sexual situations so they stay healthy too.  So many diseases are being spread because of bad decisions today.  Lord, only You know what they will choose and I pray that they will choose wisely.

I praise You for my kids, Father!  Amen

Their Calling

Amazing Lord,

I pray that my children will heed the calling You have set for them.  I pray that they will follow where You lead, Father, whether it is in missions, music or the post office.

I pray that they will do everything whole-heartedly for You, so that You can be glorified.  I pray that they will find their strength in You daily as they spread the Good News of Jesus Christ to whoever they come in contact with.

Let Your will be done in their future calling, Father.  Amen

Future Families

Wonderful Father,

I pray for the future spouses of my kids.  I pray that You will provide my son with a Proverbs 31 woman and I pray that You provide my daughter with a man who is completely devoted to You that will love her and cherish her all of her days.

I pray for Your sovereignty in this, Lord, that my kids can start families of their own someday.  I pray for a love for them, Lord, as in the Song of Solomon.  I pray that my kids will cleave to their future spouses and look to You for guidance as they journey through marriage together.

You are so good to us all, Father, and I pray for Your blessings on my children.  Amen

Conclusion

There are many things to pray about when it comes to our kids.  Salvation is the most important thing that we can pray about for them.  I encourage you to pray that your kids will love Jesus all of their days.  Heaven is way too wonderful to miss out on.  To be in the presence of God for eternity will be amazing!  God bless you as you live a life worthy of the calling!
