Bible Verses About Death: 20 Comforting Scriptures Quotes

Prayer To Understand Our Victory in Christ

One of the most difficult things to deal with in life is the death of a loved one. Even for the Christian, death is a part of life.

Un they that do not believe, the Christian has a blessed hope – that is the return of the Savior Jesus to catch up His Church and bring them to eternal life with Him and God the Father in Heaven.

Here are some scripture quotes about death that I hope will comfort you .

As He Promised, He Will Do

John 14:1-4 “Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.”

Romans 8:16-17 The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.

2 Corinthians 5:6-8 So we are always of good courage. We know that while we are at home in the body we are away from the Lord, for we walk by faith, not by sight. Yes, we are of good courage, and we would rather be away from the body and at home with the Lord.

1 Thessalonians 4:16-18 For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the voice of an archangel, and with the sound of the trumpet of God.

And the dead in Christ will rise first. Then we who are alive, who are left, will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we will always be with the Lord.

Therefore encourage one another with these words.

1 Thessalonians 5:9-11 For God has not destined us for wrath, but to obtain salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ,  who died for us so that whether we are awake or asleep we might live with him. Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, just as you are doing.

Because of Calvary, We Live

2 Samuel 12:23 But now he is dead. Why should I fast? Can I bring him back again? I shall go to him, but he will not return to me.” (King David speaking of his infant son who died)

John 11:23-26 Jesus said to her, “Your brother will rise again.” Martha said to him, “I know that he will rise again in the resurrection on the last day.” Jesus said to her, “I am the resurrection and the life. Whoever believes in me, though he die, yet shall he live, and everyone who lives and believes in me shall never die. Do you believe this?”

1 Corinthians 15:54-57 When the perishable puts on the imperishable, and the mortal puts on immortality, then shall come to pass the saying that is written: “Death is swallowed up in victory.” “O death, where is your victory? O death, where is your sting?” The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law. But thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.

Philippians 3:20-21 But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ, who will transform our lowly body to be his glorious body, by the power that enables him even to subject all things to himself.

In His Time, He Will Do

1 Corinthians 15:20-23 But in fact Christ has been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For as by a man came death, by a man has come also the resurrection of the dead. For as in Adam all die, so also in Christ shall all be made alive. But each in his own order: Christ the firstfruits, then at his coming those who belong to Christ.

Philippians 1:23-24 I am hard pressed between the two. My desire is to depart and be with Christ, for that is far better. But to remain in the flesh is more necessary on your account.

1 Peter 1:3-5 Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! According to his great mercy, he has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to an inheritance that is imperishable, undefiled, and unfading, kept in heaven for you, who by God’s power are being guarded through faith for a salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.

1 John 3:1-2 See what kind of love the Father has given to us, that we should be called children of God; and so we are. The reason why the world does not know us is that it did not know him. Beloved, we are God’s children now, and what we will be has not yet appeared; but we know that when he appears we shall be him, because we shall see him as he is.

Revelation 21:1-4 Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and the sea was no more. And I saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down heaven from God, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband.

And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, “Behold, the dwelling place of God is with man. He will dwell with them, and they will be his people, and God himself will be with them as their God.

He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away.”

Safe In His Arms, Now and Forever

Psalm 23:4 Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil,

Psalm 116:15 Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints.

John 10:27-29 “My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, and no one is able to snatch them the Father’s hand.” (Jesus speaking)

Romans 8:38-39 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Romans 14:8 For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s.

Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying, “Write this: Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord from now on.” “Blessed indeed,” says the Spirit, “that they may rest from their labors, for their deeds follow them!”

Top 7 Bible Verses About Victory

Prayer To Understand Our Victory in Christ

As I began writing this article, I was struggling with feelings of discouragement and defeat. Although I am typically a very positive person, some recent career challenges had brought me to a crisis of belief of sorts.

But as I started researching the biblical verses about victory for this article, I was once again reminded of God’s amazing power and love for each one of us. He truly does have our best interests in mind, and he wants us to live triumphant lives.

With that in mind, here are my top 7 Bible verses about victory.

This is a great verse to begin my list of top verses, because it goes straight to the heart of the matter. Once we accept the Lord as our Savior and King, he goes to battle on our behalf.

He saves us and vindicates us from our enemies—whoever or whatever that may be. It could be a military enemy, a co-worker, a discontented neighbor, or even a health challenge that confronts us, but God does not want us to be defeated by these things.

His heart is that we should overcome any challenge and live successful lives.

David is described as “a man after God’s own heart,” because he loved the Lord and wanted to obey him in every area of his life.

The Scriptures tell us that it was his custom to ask the Lord for direction and guidance before he made important decisions, and this verse is one of many that shows us the results.

It says that the Lord gave David the victory everywhere he went, and this is because David put God first. I believe that God will also bless us with success in our lives when we put him first as well.

I believe that the Lord loves it when we ascribe him the honor and praise that he deserves. This verse does that well, and it refers to many of the characteristics attributed to God.

He is full of greatness, power, glory, majesty, and especially victory, as we are discussing in this article. The Lord is exalted above all else—here on the earth and also in the heavens.

Because he is victorious, we can follow him and live in victory as well.

Any time we are getting ready to enter into a battle, we must make preparations. In ages past, horses were prepared for war along with their riders.

Nowadays we prepare by studying our enemy and by strategizing and planning for the most successful outcome possible.

This verse, however, makes it clear that in spite of all of our plans, the victory will ultimately belong to the Lord. He is our protector, our guide, and our salvation each and every time.

Facing the daily challenges of life can often feel being in the midst of a battle. This is especially true when difficulties and hardships seem to attack us at every turn.

However, we can always present our requests to the Lord, as he promises to comfort and sustain us continually.

This verse reminds us that victory can be attained by seeking the wisdom of others who have experienced similar challenges, as they can provide valuable counsel as well. It is often a good idea to get a second opinion about important decisions we are facing.

I heard one time that a frequent sign of maturity is having an attitude of gratitude as a main personality trait.

As followers of Jesus, we have a lot to be grateful for, because the Lord blesses us so much. This verse reminds us that it is our Lord Jesus Christ who grants us the victory in every area of life.

Trusting and obeying him will enable us to walk from success to triumph each and every time.

Wow! I love this verse, because it is so encouraging to read when facing hardships and trials.

The apostle John is pointing out the fact that our faith in God will lead us to victory, and it can enable us to overcome any difficulties that life throws our way.

In other words, when we are born of God, we automatically become “overcomers.” That is the most positive way we can live while also being full of hope and positive expectations.

CONCLUSION

It is never easy when we face difficulties or challenges, and I have to confess that my job situation was extremely discouraging for a while as well. The Lord has since provided me with a job I enjoy, though, and I am very grateful. God’s word is full of optimism and hope in order to help us overcome the hardships that confront us.

He wants to encourage us to face our daily challenges with enthusiasm, strength and joy, because he is fighting our battles right alongside of us. Sometimes, all we have to do is stand still, and he gives us the success.

God has our best interests in mind, and he wants us to know that in him we start every day from a point of victory—because he has never been and never will be defeated.

25 Bible Verses That Speak Against Fear – Walk in Christ’s Victory Today!

Prayer To Understand Our Victory in Christ

It is astonishing how many Christians limp through life in utter defeat, never experiencing the life of victory or the full joy of their salvation because they listen to and believe the lies of Satan. Their lives are filled with fear, anxiety, worry and stress.

The Bible says that Satan comes to kill, steal and destroy (John 10:10) and that he roams around a prowling lion, looking for someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8).

He will go after your mind, your appearance, your identity, your character – heck, even your salvation, especially the latter! That’s why God tells you to be on your guard and let your mind be under the control and influence of the Holy Spirit (Romans 8:6).

It’s time for you to apply God’s Word, as it speaks against fear and anxiety, and to start walking in Christ’s victory.

Do not be conformed to the things of this world – instead be transformed by the renewal of your mind (the way you think!). When you truly accept and believe that you are sons/daughters of God and that His blood is running through your veins, you’ll look at things in an entirely new perspective.

We cannot expect to get our spiritual nourishment from church only. Sadly, church has mostly failed to take information and correctly apply it so that transformation can happen. When we study, read and listen to God’s Word, and then begin to apply it in our lives,  true repentance and victory will happen! Fear and anxiety may come, but we will be able to stand firm.

It’s time to take those old hurts, pain and struggles and nail it to Calvary’s cross once and for all and walk in the freedom that has been bought for you at the highest possible price! (1 Corinthians 7:23) The best part is – He gives it to you for free! All you need to do is just believe that! Sounds “Disney-magic”, but truly it’s that simple! Get your identity in God and grasp it – then walk in victory!

Here are 25 Bible verses that speak against fear and will help you walk in Christ’s victory. Read and affirm them every morning and evening. Don’t just read it, believe it and live it!

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength. – Philippians 4:13 (NLT)

Isaiah 54:17

Revelation 12:11

And they have conquered him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, for they loved not their lives even unto death. – Revelation 12:11 (ESV)

even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him. In love – Ephesians 1:4 (ESV)

Ephesians 1:3-9

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places, even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.

In love he predestined us for adoption as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.

In him we have redemption through his blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of his grace, which he lavished upon us, in all wisdom and insight making known to us the mystery of his will, according to his purpose, which he set forth in Christ – Ephesians 1:3-9 (ESV)

John 1:12

But to all who did receive him, who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God, – John 1:12 (ESV)

Fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God; I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. – Isaiah 41:10 (ESV)

Matthew 6:25-34

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink, nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothing? Look at the birds of the air: they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them.

Are you not of more value than they? And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? And why are you anxious about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin, yet I tell you, even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed one of these.

… – Matthew 6:25-34 (ESV)

Deuteronomy 31:6

Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you.” – Deuteronomy 31:6 (ESV)

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you. – 1 Peter 5:6-7 (ESV)

1 John 4:18

There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. – 1 John 4:18 (ESV)

Psalm 23:4

Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. – Psalm 23:4 (ESV)

Matthew 6:34

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble. – Matthew 6:34 (ESV)

Psalm 55:22-23

Cast your burden on the Lord, and he will sustain you; he will never permit the righteous to be moved. But you, O God, will cast them down into the pit of destruction; men of blood and treachery shall not live out half their days. But I will trust in you. – Psalm 55:22-23 (ESV)

1 John 1:9

Understand The Prayer Of Agreement and When To Use It

Prayer To Understand Our Victory in Christ

Return To Christian Healing Studies  |  Healing Prayer List

The Prayer Of Agreement

The prayer of agreement from Matthew 18:19-20 is the center of this study.  It teaches how to use this prayer correctly with the collective faith of others joined with your own faith for answered prayer.   This is a great prayer for husbands and wives.

Understand The Prayer Of Agreement

If you have little faith but but you need answered prayer or you need answered prayer quickly, God has provided a means of igniting your faith by joining with others.  You only need to look at Matthew 18:19-20 to learn this explosive principle for answered prayer. However, praying with others in agreement creates a few special conditions.

According to Jesus we’re guaranteed answered prayer when we follow His clear instruction for this form of prayer known as the Prayer of Agreement found in Matthew 18:19-20.  This particular prayer takes us beyond our own level of faith to obtain anything according to God’s will (if it’s in the Bible as a promise or blessing).

For example if one suffers the loss of a job or someone needs to receive healing. These are needs that must be fulfilled quickly! So rather than praying on your own during such times, you can join with others in prayer for greater faith and power according to what Jesus said.

This is because collaborated faith efforts will greatly increase faith so that prayer results can be realized in a shorter time than when we pray alone and in some cases immediately.  The prayer of agreement must be used correctly according to the context of verses 19-20.

-Agree In Prayer For Powerful Results-

Prayer Bible Study Scripture

In Matthew 18:19-20, Jesus said:

“19 Again I say unto you, that if two of you shall agree on earth as touching anything that they shall ask, it shall be done for them of my Father who is in heaven.

20 For where two or three are gathered together in my name, there am I in the midst of them.”

============================================

The key word for the prayer of agreement found in verse 19 is “agree.”  This study is going to teach you the significance of how this one word can impact the prayer of agreement for the positive or negative of what you want or need.

Don’t be in a hurry with prayer of agreement. Take time when praying with others to choose those persons who have a desire as you do to pray correctly and who also want the best for you.

We can pray with others who don’t have our best interest at heart.   If you desire to put forth greater, heart-felt faith for what you desire with others, you need people, even strangers who desire to see God’s Word manifested in your life and whatever it’s applied to through prayer.

Praying with a family, for instance, who might not respect you or believe in prayer will not give you the added faith toward what you want or encouragement. In Matthew 18:18  Jesus said: “18 Verily I say unto you, what things soever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and what things soever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”

When we pray, we’re loosing what we want or binding what we don’t want.  I cover this information and more about prayer and receiving from God in Take The Path To Victorious Christian Living if you need to learn more on the subject.

While you don’t have control over people who pray for you that you don’t know, you want to make sure that you receive the benefit of this prayer by sharing your need in joined prayer with family, friends and church members who you know respect God’s Word and desire for you to receive exactly what you’ve asked God for in prayer.

For example, you can pray with one or more persons you trust, making sure their understanding of your prayer is aligned with your exact need and request.  You must explain to them clearly what you need and make your prayer reflect that need.

If you ask to be healed of freedom from an addiction, then state what you want.  “Heavenly Father, please heal me from addiction to pain killers (name the specific medications)…”

The more people you ask to pray with you, the more people who will pray for you that you don’t know.  This is another reason to be specific.

Tell each person who you ask to pray with you and for you to be just as specific so the growing list of persons will actually increase the faith leading to heaven for binding or loosing what you need according to Matthew 18:18.

Also tell them to share your name with the prayer.  We need to be specific about everything we pray about.  This includes using the names of those who we pray about.

The Steps of The Prayer Of Agreement According to Jesus:

  1. two or more people must gather together in agreement about anything they ask for in prayer
  2. meeting together in the name of Jesus will insure that He is right there in the midst of our prayer
  3. ask for what you want in Jesus’ Name and our Heavenly Father will answer it

As our mediator before God, Jesus Christ is right there with us to present that prayer to God immediately on our behalf with the benefit of our joined faith.

Prayer Of Agreement Study In Review

Before you say your prayer with one or more persons in agreement to your prayer request, you must consider the following factors:

  • Be clear about what you want.  You can’t ask for one thing, but really want another.  This will create doubt.
  • Be specific.  If you want more money, for example, you need to know how much money you want and why you want it.
  • Clearly state your request to those praying with you to insure that they are praying in harmony with what you want.
  • Choose the person or persons carefully who you’ll be praying with.  Make sure they understand this prayer and the principles of the Prayer of Faith.
  • Choose people who have your best interest at heart.  You can’t pray with someone just because they’re a Christian and you need someone to pray with you.  You would do better to pray alone.  You need prayer partners who are totally in agreement with you and want you to be blessed.
  • Be honest about your situation.  God knows the truth when we go before Him.
  • Continue to thank God that He has answered your prayer once you’ve prayed.

Always keep in mind that everyone in your prayer circle must be one ACCORD with you in prayer.  This is why it’s called the Prayer of Agreement. If you take these tips seriously, you’ll experience accelerated prayer results.

Special Notice:   As I close this study, I would to present two more important factors for answered prayer.

Before you say any prayer, always ask for forgiveness of your sins, repent and trust that God has forgiven you immediately.  It will keep your heart at peace when entering into prayer.

It’s also scriptural for answered prayer according to (Mark 11:26).  Also, forgive all others.

Once you have completed any prayer, thank and praise God for answering you as often as possible until you receive your request.  Then, continue to be thankful for all God has done for you now and forever.

What To Do Next: Send me your prayer request. State your prayer clearly as I described and then believe with me in agreement that you have received. Make sure others pray about you with the same understanding. Thank and praise God daily to build your faith!

Use the form below to keep your request and name private. No one will see it. So that I can be sure it’s you that sent it, I’m going to have you sign-in first and then take one more step to prove to me that you’re actually the one who sent the request.

You’ll receive my email address to send me your request and I’ll keep it private. Make sure your prayer request is for healing of any condition, problem or illness.

There is mental, emotional and physical healing so there is a wide-range of healing for your prayer request.
