8 Ways We Know that God is Faithful

Thanks That God’s Faithfulness Is New Each Morning

And, we’ve even sung about the faithfulness of God in our songs. Classics , “Great is Thy Faithfulness” line our hymnals and songbooks.

However, sometimes, it just doesn’t FEEL God is being faithful.

Sometimes it’s when we wait forever for Him to answer our prayers (while others are enjoying miraculous answers to prayer.)

Sometimes we doubt God’s faithfulness when life knocks the breath us.

At times, we can wonder about God’s faithfulness when we have to deal with the ravaging effects of cancer – nausea, pain, sleeplessness, and sickness.

When the divorce papers are final or the pregnancy test is once again “negative,” we can lose hope in the Lord.

As we have to say, “Goodbye” to someone that we love dearly, we can begin to doubt God’s faithfulness.

There are moments in life when we grow weary, empty, and tired as we wait for our God to come through for us.

In all of these challenging moments, we need to be reminded of some great truths that affirm God’s faithful nature.

Here are 8 Ways We Know that God is Faithful – 8 Ways that we can KNOW God is absolutely trustworthy in His nature.

It’s some of the best news in all of the scriptures – God is faithful and just to forgive us of all of our sins!

“If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” 1 John 1:9

Way Number Two – Psalm 71:22

In Psalm 71, the Psalmist recounts a lifetime of God’s faithfulness. From the time he was young until old age, God has helped him, saved him, given him hope, and been his strength and protection. He was so moved in thinking about God’s faithfulness that he wanted to get on his harp and praise God.

We may not play the harp, but we can take time today to praise God for how faithful He has been to us, how faithful He is currently, and how faithful He will continue to be.

God is faithful!

“You are faithful to your promises, O my God.” (Psalm 71:22, NLT)

In all things, the Lord is faithful.

The Message reads this, “God-of-the-Angel-Armies, who is you, powerful and faithful from every angle?”

Don’t you love knowing that we serve a God who is completely faithful? He is faithful and powerful from every vantage point. His faithfulness surrounds Him.

*Today, if you are in doubt about some issue in your life, why not invite the Lord to give you a BIGGER GLIMPSE of His power and faithfulness!

Way Number Four – Psalm 143:1

In this Psalm, David is appealing to God in prayer. He’s asking God to “give ear” to his prayers of supplication. He bases his appeal on God’s character – His faithfulness and righteousness.

As God’s children, we can do the same thing. We can take our prayers to God and appeal to Him His character.

*Today, you might even want to pray this prayer of David, “Hear my prayer, O Lord; listen to my plea! Answer me because you are faithful and righteous.” (Psalm 143:1)

When the Enemy comes against us, this may be one of his favorite lies, “God is NOT faithful.”

But the Bible reminds us over and over that our God is completely faithful and totally trustworthy.

**Even if it does not feel it today and you are tempted to doubt, be reminded of this…

“God is faithful (reliable, trustworthy, and therefore ever true to His promise, and He can depend on); by Him, you were called into companionship and participation with His Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.” (I Cor. 1:9, AMPC)

Way Number Six – Psalm 16:11

Psalm 16 is one of my favorite chapters in all of the Psalms.

These words of David remind us of the many joys & benefits we will enjoy when we live in close relationship & companionship with the Lord Jesus.

“You alone are my inheritance, my cup of blessing, You guard all that is mine.” (Psalm 16:11, NLT)

Way Number Seven – Psalm 119:90

What a sweet promise from the Bible!!

God WAS faithful to our grandparents and great-grandparents. He IS faithful to us and to our generation. And, He WILL BE faithful to our children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

**Almighty God is always and forever FAITHFUL!

“His faithfulness extends to every generation.” Psalm 119:90, NLT

Way Number Eight – Lamentations 3:22-23

This passage from Lamentations 3:19-24 always gives me hope. I pray you will be encouraged by these words as well.

The thought of my suffering and homelessness
    is bitter beyond words.
I will never forget this awful time,
as I grieve over my loss.
Yet I still dare to hope
    when I remember this:

The faithful love of the Lord never ends!
    His mercies never cease.
 Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning.
 I say to myself, “The Lord is my inheritance;
therefore, I will hope in him!”

21 Bible Verses on God’s Faithfulness

Thanks That God’s Faithfulness Is New Each Morning

The topic of faith is important in all religious systems. But what exactly is faith?  I think the biblical definition comes from Hebrews 11:1 which says, “Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

”  It is simply believing in something that you cannot see.  There are many passages throughout the Biblical text that deal with faith and faithfulness.  We know that a characteristic of God is that He is faithful.  We are called to be faithful and people of faith.

Consider the following…

Psalms 86:15 “But you, O Lord, are a God  merciful and gracious, slow to anger and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness.”

Scripture That Shows God’s Faithfulness

Deuteronomy 7:9 Know therefore that the LORD your God is God, the faithful God  who keeps covenant and steadfast love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations,

Psalms 36:5  Your steadfast love, O LORD, extends to the heavens, your faithfulness to the clouds.

Psalms 89:8  O LORD God of hosts, who is mighty as you are, O LORD,  with your faithfulness all around you?

Psalms 119:90  Your  faithfulness endures to all generations;  you have established the earth, and it  stands fast.

God is faithful, by whom you were called into the fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Lamentations 3:22-23 The steadfast love of the LORD never ceases;  his mercies never come to an end; they are new  every morning; great is your faithfulness.

Romans 3:3 What if some were unfaithful?  Does their faithlessness nullify the faithfulness of God?

1 Corinthians 1:9 God is faithful, by whom you were called into the  fellowship of his Son, Jesus Christ our Lord.

1 Corinthians 10:9 We must not put Christ  to the test,  as some of them did and  were destroyed by serpents,

1 Corinthians 10:13 No temptation has overtaken you that is not common to man.  God is faithful, and  he will not let you be tempted beyond your ability, but with the temptation he will also provide the way of escape, that you may be able to endure it.

2 Thessalonians 3:3 But  the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against  the evil one.

Hebrews 10:23  Let us hold fast the confession of our hope without wavering, for he who promised is faithful.

Bible Verses That Define Faith

Psalms 91:4 He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will  find refuge; his faithfulness is  a shield and buckler.

Hebrews 11:1  Now faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the conviction of things not seen.

Hebrews 11:6 And without faith it is impossible to please him, for whoever would draw near to God must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who seek him.

Bible Verses About Faith in People

Psalms 40:10  I have not hidden your deliverance within my heart;  I have spoken of your faithfulness and your salvation;  I have not concealed your steadfast love and your faithfulness from the great congregation.

Proverbs 28:20  A faithful man will abound with blessings, but whoever hastens to be rich will not go unpunished.

Matthew 25:21 His master said to him, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant. You have been faithful over a little; I will set you over much. Enter into the joy of your master.’

Luke 16:10  One who is faithful in a very little is also faithful in much, and one who is dishonest in a very little is also dishonest in much.

1 Corinthians 4:2 Moreover, it is required of stewards that they be found faithful.

2 Timothy 2:13 if we are faithless, he remains faithful—for he cannot deny himself.

The Bible clearly shows that faith is not just a one-time decision to follow Christ (which is certainly important and has eternal consequences) but we are called to increase in faith.  Faith has been described a muscle.  A muscle in our body will atrophy if it is not used.

If you have ever had a cast on an arm or leg for a few weeks you know what I mean.  Just from not using the muscle it withers away and is almost useless.  Our faith is the same way.  We need to use our faith and to grow Christ and increase our faith.

Pray to God for him to increase your faith in Him today. Praise Him!
