Prayer Of Surrender to God’s Will

10 Christian Songs That Can Become Your Prayer To God

Prayer Of Surrender to God’s Will

I love listening to Christian music and oftentimes find songs that speak to me. There is something wonderful about songs that give praise to God and just make you want to lift your hands and thank Him. However, there are many songs out there that I have come to find to be prayers.

These songs' prayers touch my heart in a way that makes me recognize the depth and pain of my soul. And makes me realize the prayers that I haven't given to God. So take a deep breath, grab some tissues, and take a seat. God is about to speak to you through these beautiful songs…

1. “Give Me Faith” by Elevation Worship

Give me faith to trust what You say,That You're good and Your love is greatI'm broken inside, I give You my life.

This song is a surrender to God. Sometimes we need to stop and recognize how great God is and how our lives should be surrendered to Him.

We must ask Him to soften our hearts, open our eyes, cleanse us, and put us back together. I listen to this song often in my weakest times when I know my faith is diminished.

I soon come to recognize that I am broken and that's OK but I must continue to walk daily in my faith.

2. “Great Plans” by Cloverton.

I know you're scared but the voices in your head, will send you mine instead; they'll say “Great plans I have for you.”

I fell in love with this song years ago and although it is slow, it is a truly moving song. This is not a prayer song but is rather a song intended to be God speaking to us.

Sometimes when I am in a rough patch and don't really know what God is doing in my life, I sit down and listen to this song and the tears start rolling in. God has great plans for us and sometimes this is hard to recognize.

His plans are for us to prosper. Our future is in His hands and we must recognize this daily.

3. “I Will Look Up” by Elevation Worship.

I will look up for there is none above YouI will bow down to tell You that I need YouJesus Lord of all

This song is another prayer of surrender. Every single worry and doubt we must lay at our Father's feet. We must trust that God has everything and everyone in His hands and that He is fully working in our lives.

Our prayer should be to look up to God rather than looking out to the world and bowing down to God rather than bowing down to those around us.

Sometimes we get caught up in the world but must always come back to this prayer of surrender and commitment.

4. “Set a Fire” by Will Reagan & United Pursuit

Set a fire down in my soul
That I can't contain, that I can't control
I want more of you God

This song is my anthem prayer. It's repetitive but truly speaks the deepest desires of my heart. We can get so caught up in this world and become dry. We struggle to maintain our faith and to show the world love. That's why we must ask the Lord to set a fire in our souls. To ignite our passions and love for Him and to have us live a life that is worth spreading.

Sometimes when I listen to this song, I to think of my favorite place in the world or a place that I greatly miss. I then picture God's enormous love and grace and often get chills at the fact that my favorite place is nothing compared to the place of God's love. Wherever you are in life, God will meet you there and so will His love.

And in His love is the best place you could be.

5. “Lord I'm Ready Now” by Plumb.

Oh Lord I'm ready nowAll the walls are downTime is running outAnd I wanna make this countI ran away from youAnd did what I wanted toBut I don't wanna let you downOh Lord I'm ready now

God continually waits for us and calls out to us yet we need to recognize that our time is limited. We have to be ready for the Lord now before it is too late. This song is one that asks for forgiveness.

We often run away from God and then regret it. However, due to Jesus's sacrifice, God will always allow us to run back into His arms.

If you are at a point in your life where you've run away from God, maybe it is time to pray this prayer and run back to the Lord.

6. “Holy Spirit” by Francesca Battistelli

Holy Spirit, You are welcome hereCome flood this place and fill the atmosphereYour glory, God, is what our hearts long forTo be overcome by Your presence, Lord

When worshiping God, we must always ask the Holy Spirit to come in and move us. This song does exactly that, inviting the Holy Spirit in to touch us and change our hearts.

Being in God's presence is the most serene, beautiful feeling and I often feel most enveloped by God when I am surrounded by nature or surrounded by a congregation worshiping the Lord. Welcome God into your hearts and let Him touch you.

Don't be afraid to get emotional or to feel moved. Those moments can sometimes be the most touching moments of your life.

7. “Give Us Clean Hands” by Chris Tomlin

Oh give us clean hands and give us pure heartsLet us not lift our souls to another

Oh God let this be a generation that seeksWho seeks Your face, oh God of Jacob

Whenever I listen to this song, I come to recognize the sins I am bounded by and the sins the world is bounded by. I recognize that I must ask God for clean hands and a pure heart. I must ask God to free me of my bondage that has been holding me back.

Our generation is stuck in a place of bondage. However, we must continually ask God to turn this generation into one that seeks Him. Analyze your prayers today.

Are you asking God for things you want or are you asking Him for forgiveness of your sins and for redemption in this world?

8. “Fall Afresh” by Bethel Music

Spirit of the living God come fall afresh on meCome wake me from my sleepBlow through the caverns of my soulPour in me to overflow

Are you asleep? I know at points that I am. At points, I am not an active Christian seeking God and striving to love others. This song is a declaration to exactly that. To have God to wake us up and move in us so that we may love Him and love others more. Ask God to awaken your soul. To want to know more of Him and build a passion in your heart to love.

9. “Lead Me to the Cross” by Hillsong United

Lead me to the crossWhere Your love poured outBring me to my kneesLord I lay me downRid me of myselfI belong to YouLead me, lead me to the cross

Once in a while, I come to forget the sacrifice God made for us by sending His son to die on the cross for our sins. The ultimate sacrifice was made by Jesus Christ who died on the cross to forgive the whole world of their sins. If that sacrifice was not made, we would not be forgiven.

We would live in a world of great despair. Thus we must ask the Lord to lead us to the cross. To help us recognize His sacrifice and to treasure it in our hearts. To experience His love and truly understand it.

We belong to the Lord who saved our lives and often, we should pray to understand His love and sacrifice for us.

10. “Thy Will” by Hillary Scott & The Scott Family

Sometimes I gotta stop, remember that you're God and I am not so

Thy will be done

This song has been on my heart so much recently. It is a cry to God to help us comprehend the fact that our life is not ours, but it is His. Thus we must pray that His will be done in our lives. We must lay down every burden we have and give it to the Lord. His plans are for us and He will do good in our lives.

He laid down His life for us, so we must lay our lives down for Him. Tears come to my eyes when I listen to this song because I know I don't give my life fully to God because I to control where I am going. But I must let Him take control and trust that He is good and His promises are good.

Lay down your life today for the One who laid down His life for you.

To everyone who is struggling and full of worry, pray these prayers today so that you may be filled with God's love and blessings. He hears you and He is for you.

Prayer of surrender to god

Prayer Of Surrender to God’s Will

PRAYER OF SURRENDER

(Pray this prayer when you are ready to experience intimacy with God, and hunger for a deeper relationship with Him. When you are ready  to understand fully His purpose and plan for you, the reason for your mere existence, surrender to Him, pour out all your heart and soul to Him in an act of  giving all up to Him. It’s okay to ask Him to help you to do it.)

“….may Your will be done” (Matthew 26:42),

Loving Father, I surrender to You today with all my heart and soul.  Please come into my heart in a deeper way.  I say “Yes” to You today.  I open all the secret places in my heart to you and say, “Come on in.”  Jesus, You are Lord of my whole life.  I believe in You and receive You as my Lord and Savior.  I hold nothing back.

Holy Spirit, bring me deeper conversion to the person of Jesus Christ.  I surrender all to you: my health, my family, my resources, occupation, skills, relationships, time management, successes and failures.  I release it, and let it go.  I surrender my understanding of how things out to be; my choices and my will.

I surrender to You the promises I have kept and the promises I have failed to keep.  I surrender my weaknesses and strengths to You.  I surrender my emotions, my fears, my insecurities, my everything.  I surrender _____________, ______________________, _______________________, _____________________. (Continue to surrender other areas as the Holy Spirit reveals them to you).

Lord, I surrender my entire life to You, the past, the present and the future.  In sickness and in health, in life and in death, I belong to You.

“Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty, my memory, my understanding, and my entire will, all that I have and possess.  You have given all of me.  To you, O Lord, and I return it.  All is Yours.  Dispose of it wholly according to Your will.  Give me Your Love and Your grace, for this is sufficient for me.”

 (Php 3:8; Pr 23:26; Ro 12:1; Mt 16:24; Lk 14:33; Ps 143;10; Ps 40:8; Dt 6:5; Pr 3:5; Jer 29:13; Jn 3:16; 1 Pe 1:18-19; Tit 3:5; R 10:9;13; Ro 1:6; Ro 14:8; Ac 16:30; 1 John 5:1,5)

Nothing aligns my heart with God’s praying the Scriptures.

The acts of inhaling His words and exhaling them back to Him remind me that He is worthy of my all.

Everything I am, everything I have, every blessing I lay claim to…

is His.

Every single, last bit of it.

It’s one of those absolutes that’s true whether I realize it or not.

Whether I acknowledge it or not.

And whether I it or not.

I never really understood what “surrender” was (spiritually speaking) until just a couple of years ago, during a season of trial in my life.

My husband received the dreaded cancer diagnosis.

And then he lost his job.

As I look back, it’s fascinating to me that God taught me so much about surrender during a time when I actually hadn’t surrendered anything.

We sure didn’t give up my husband’s health voluntarily.

And we didn’t choose to give up my husband’s job.

Both were taken from us.

But the really amazing thing is that when we accepted this truth, bowing our knee to Him as our Master and choosing to live He’s in charge, He poured out even greater blessings.

I’m learning that surrender isn’t a once-and-for-all kind of proposition. It’s not a one-time deal.

At least it hasn’t been for me.

I have to keep on surrendering. Keep on bowing the knee. And keep on choosing to live He’s in charge.

Because He really is.

If you realize the truth of what I’m sharing, and you see in your heart the need to yield anew, will you join me in lifting a prayer of surrender to our Lord?

Prayer of Surrender

Ask God for His mercy to enable you to present your body as a living sacrifice, holy and acceptable to God, which is your spiritual worship (Romans 12:1).

Confess to the Lord that you don’t have the understanding or the authority to direct your own steps (Jeremiah 10:23). Pray that He would help you look to Him as your Master.

Pray for God’s daily grace to deny yourself, take up your cross, and follow Jesus. Acknowledge to Him that whoever wants to save her life at all costs will lose it, but whoever loses her life for Jesus’ sake will save it (Luke 9:23-24). Share with Jesus that you won’t withhold anything – including your very life – from Him.

Echo Jesus’ own prayer before His crucifixion: “Abba, Father, all things are possible for You. Remove this cup from me. Yet not what I will, but what You will.” (Mark 14:34-35). Consider what aspects of God’s will you’ve been resisting, what “cup” you’ve been refusing. Share with God your desire to humble yourself under His mighty hand, trusting that when the time is right, He will exalt you (I Peter 5:6).

Acknowledge to Jesus that He is the true vine, and His Father is the vinedresser. Tell Him that He has the right to take away every branch in Him that does not bear fruit, and to prune every branch that does bear fruit, that it may bear more fruit.

Pray that God would teach you to abide in Christ, and Christ in you. Confess that as the branch cannot bear fruit by itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Jesus.

Claim the promise that whoever abides in Jesus and Jesus in him will bear much fruit, for apart from Him you can do nothing (John 15:1-7).

Ponder the truth that you are not your own, for you were bought with a price. Share with God your desire to glorify Him in your body, as it belongs to Him (I Corinthians 6:20).

Confess to the Lord that all of your material and non-material blessings are gifts meant to be stewarded well, with the intention of multiplying them for the Master. Ask that the Lord would mold you into a faithful servant, and not a worthless one (Matthew 25:14-30).

Praise the Lord that the earth is His, along with everything in it, the world and all who dwell here (Psalm 24:1). Ask Him to impress this truth on your heart, and to help you live accordingly.

Contemplate God’s promise to bless Abraham so that he would be a blessing (Genesis 12:2). Pray that God would show you how He wants to apply this in your own life.

Dear Heavenly Father, Creator of the heavens and the earth, the skies and the seas, and everything in them, You are worthy of all glory, honor, dominion, and strength. You have every right to call the shots in my life, and in the world.

I thank You for the peace that comes with accepting that the Most High God rules in the kingdom of men. I know unequivocally that I can trust Your infinite goodness, wisdom, and holiness.

Please help me to hold my blessings with open hands, not hoarding them for myself, but willing to give them back, to share them, and to use them on behalf of Your glory, as You so lead. It’s in the name of my Savior, Jesus Christ, that I pray. Amen.

Prayer of Surrender: Surrendering All to Jesus

Heavenly Father, I completely surrender all my life to You! I adore You, for You are mighty and all-powerful, worthy of all my praise. As I kneel in worship to You, Lord, sometimes I am so overwhelmed by what is going on around me that I am lost for words.

By the working power of the Holy Spirit, I know  that all I need to do is call on the beautiful, sweet-sounding name of my Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.  Thank You for that privilege!

5 Things You Can Do that will Help You Surrender to God’s Will – Counting My Blessings

Prayer Of Surrender to God’s Will

One of the hardest sentences in my life has been…

“Lord, not my will but Yours be done.”

In fact, I’ve had more than a few times when I’ve gone into and through circumstances both kicking and screaming!

Surrender is a word that used to terrify me.

I’m guessing I’m not alone.

It’s not easy to give up and give in to the Sovereign God of the Universe because doing so requires…

Trusting that God is who He says He is.
Believing He is able to do what He says He will do.
Living in peace knowing His love is greater than any circumstances.

I’ll admit it’s easier to surrender to God’s will when life is easy and He’s working in ways that please me. It’s harder when I can’t understand my current situation and the road ahead looks hard.

Maybe me, you want to do better and face each day in obedience without fighting to get your own way.

If so, I believe this will help you it’s helping me.

1. Trust God’s Love

It’s hard for me to follow someone who doesn’t want what’s best for me and since the Garden of Eden, Satan has used whatever he can to get people to doubt God’s love.

Have you ever heard a child say “you don’t love me” to a parent’s “no?” Yet the job of a loving parent isn’t to make their children happy, it’s to do what is best to help them grow and mature.

I’m learning that as my loving Heavenly Father, God is at work in my life helping me grow and mature in faith and love.

And…

God showed how much He loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him.This is real love—not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. 1 John 4:9–10

That is HUGE love!

2. Let Go of Worry and Surrender in Faith

If worry was an Olympic sport, I’d have a trophy case of medals. The list of things I’ve worried about is too long for this space. I’d memorized the verse “don’t worry about tomorrow” as a child — but applying it seemed beyond my anxiety overwhelm.

But I’m not doing tomorrow right now. I living today! It took several major crises before I finally learned that I just needed God to help me through this moment and trust Him to give me what I need in the next. That’s living through faith…

Believing God will meet each need one moment at a time!

Can all your worries add a single moment to your life? And if worry can’t accomplish a little thing that, what’s the use of worrying over bigger things? Luke 12:25–26

 3. Let Go of the Past and Surrender to God’s Healing Grace

Dwelling on the past is as much of a problem as worrying about the future.

In Christ Jesus, God has completely forgiven the past. I’m learning to trust Him and lean into His gracea and mercy.

Part of my surrendering means going to God in prayer asking Him to forgive my past and give me all I need to forgive those who hurt me. When you and I focus on regret and revenge we cannot surrender. Those two things will always rob us of God’s peace and joy.

“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland. Isaiah 43:18–19

4. Let Go of Impatience and Surrender to God’s Timing

I’m not good at waiting … lines, doctors offices, etc. I have a schedule to follow. You too?!

But the truth is, there is no peace when I’m tapping my foot and staring at my watch.

So, I’m giving my impatience to God, asking Him to help me trust His timing and while I wait, I’m also asking Him to give me His peace and strength.

But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. Isaiah 40:31

5. Let Go of Disobedience and Surrender to God’s Commands

I’m too often a creature of habits and not all of them are good. It’s easy to make light of my sins, after all they’re not THAT bad. But sins are a big deal. They rob me of peace, cause me unpleasant consequences, and fail to glorify God.

I’m asking God to help me believe His ways are best and.give me a heart for obedience … not to earn His favor but to glorify Him and testify to His love.

Lord, we show our trust in You by obeying Your laws;  our heart’s desire is to glorify Your name. Isaiah 26:8

I still have so much to learn to completely surrender to God’s will

I to have control over what happens in my life. I want what I want and I want it now. But experience has taught me that fighting God’s plans will never offer me lasting happiness or peace. It has never happened in the past and I doubt it will in the future.

I believe God wants to help us trust His perfect love and surrender to His will.

Remember the things I have done in the past. For I alone am God! I am God, and there is none me. Isaiah 64:9

So… I will surrender my will to God today.

Not on my own.

But with His help.

I can do all things through Christ because He gives me strength. Philippians 4:13

A Daily Prayer of Surrender to God’s Will

Years ago, a dear friend shared this morning prayer with me.

Father God, I surrender this day to You. I will follow where You lead and do Your will as You reveal it to me. Help me live this promise – that I may live today for Your glory. In the name of Jesus and by the power of the Holy Spirit. Amen.

May this be the way I begin each day, and with God’s help may I live it out one moment at a time.
