Prayer Of Encouragement For Our Pastor

8 Prayers You Should DESPERATELY Pray For Your Pastor

Prayer Of Encouragement For Our Pastor

Pastoral ministry is a business un any other. It is a dangerous business. A sacred business. A business where the souls of people are at stake.

I was a pastor for many years, so I have a feel for the perils and pleasures of ministry. It’s very hard, supremely rewarding work.

Gardiner Spring said:

It is at a fearful expense that ministers are ever allowed to enter the pulpit without being preceded, accompanied, and followed by the earnest prayers of the churches.

It is no marvel that the pulpit is so powerless, and ministers so often disheartened when there are so few to hold up their hands…When the churches cease to pray for ministers, ministers will no longer be a blessing to the churches.

In light of the challenges of ministry, here are 8 prayers every church member should pray for their pastor(s) on a regular basis.

#1 – For Protection From Satan

Be sober-minded; be watchful. Your adversary the devil prowls around a roaring lion, seeking someone to devour (1 Peter 5:8).

If Satan can take down a shepherd of God’s people, the odds are much higher that God’s people will scatter. That they’ll become bitter and disenfranchised. They will question everything they’ve ever been taught by that pastor. Satan targets pastors because the damage is exponential if they fall. Pray for your pastor that he would be kept safe from Satan.

Father, please protect my pastor from the attacks of Satan. Give him the strength to endure temptation and stand firm against the accusations Satan loves to whisper in his ear. Help him stand firm in your service, always fighting for the faith and for his people.

#2 – For Protection Against His Own Sinful Heart

But each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin, and sin when it is fully grown brings forth death. (James 1:14-15)

Pastors don’t fall because one day, the blue, they decide to dive headlong into sin. The slide into sin happens slowly, over time, in small increments, as the pastor believes the lies presented to him by his flesh. Pray for your pastor that he would be on guard against the lies of sin. Pray that he would have a proper fear of God.

Father, please protect my pastor from the deceitfulness of sin that we all are so prone to. Guard him from sin. Keep his conscience tender and fresh. Keep him close to you and close to your word.

Helpful Resource:

#3 – For Deep Spiritual Encouragement

For I long to see you, that I may impart to you some spiritual gift to strengthen you— that is, that we may be mutually encouraged by each other’s faith, both yours and mine. (Romans 1:11-12)

Pastoral ministry can be brutal, discouraging work. Pastors find themselves in the midst of terrible situations on a regular basis – divorce, death, apostasy, and much more.

It’s also challenging because they don’t see progress in the sense that other jobs do. Christians are always in progress. Because of this, discouragement and depression can be a regular companion of the minister.

Pray for your pastor to be encouraged.

Father, please encourage my pastor by the power of your Spirit. Let his soul be refreshed with the love of Christ. Let him have faith for the future. Help him to keep pressing forward even when the way is littered with landmines. Let him be refreshed by the fact that your grace is sufficient for him.

#4 – For Wisdom

If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask God, who gives generously to all without reproach, and it will be given him. (James 1:5)

Many elements of pastoral ministry are not black and white. A husband and wife are in serious conflict, and the husband has one story while the wife has another. A church member needs financial support but has a history of mismanaged finances. A young man struggles with same-sex attraction while still wanting to follow Jesus. Pastors need God’s wisdom to navigate these gray areas.

Father, please give my pastor your wisdom. Help him know the way to go even when the way is not clear. Give him discernment to know good from evil, even when evil is dressed as good. Help him apply your word to even the most confusing situations.

Helpful Resource:

#5 – For Doctrinal Faithfulness

By the Holy Spirit who dwells within us, guard the good deposit entrusted to you (2 Timothy 1:14).

Pastors can be tempted to modify or even abandon biblical doctrines for a variety of reasons. Cultural pressures, vocal church members, even legal actions can press hard upon pastors, making them feel that the only way out is to give up the clear teaching of Scripture. They need God’s grace to stay faithful to the good deposit of God’s word.

Father, I pray for my pastor that you would help him hold fast to Scripture, even when everyone else tells him to let go. Help him stand on your word and only your word. Protect him from the temptation to abandon the precious truths laid out in Scripture.

#6 – For A Healthy Body

But I discipline my body and keep it under control, lest after preaching to others I myself should be disqualified (1 Corinthians 9:27).

Ministry can take a tremendous toll on a pastor’s body. Yes, our bodies are temples, but they are often broken temples.

Long nights at the hospital, high-stress situations, and ever-present discouragement can quickly lead to burnout and body betrayal.

Not only do pastor’s need spiritual strength, they need physical strength as well. Pray for your pastor that he would be sustained in body and mind.

Father, please give my pastoral supernatural strength. Protect him from sickness and disease. Give him your energy to keep serving faithfully. Help him to find periods of rest and recovery. Guide him to still waters.

#7 – For A Strong Marriage and Family

Therefore an overseer must be above reproach, the husband of one wife, sober-minded, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, not a drunkard, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. He must manage his own household well, with all dignity keeping his children submissive, for if someone does not know how to manage his own household, how will he care for God’s church (1 Timothy 3:2-6)

Church history is littered with the skeletons of pastors whose marriages and families fell apart under the strain of pastoral ministry. And as 1 Timothy states, if a pastor can’t manage his family, how can he manage the church of God? Satan loves to sabotage a pastor’s family, and your pastor needs prayer that God will give him a healthy marriage and family.

Father, please give my pastor a supernaturally healthy marriage. Strengthen the bonds between him and his wife. Encourage them both in ministry. Give both of them wisdom to manage their family and to keep you at the center, not ministry. I also pray for their children that you would let them know you and follow you.

#8 – For Meaningful Friendships

A man of many companions may come to ruin, but there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother (Proverbs 18:24).

Pastoral ministry can be surprisingly lonely. Something about being in a position of leadership isolates the man. People look to him to be a teacher and leader, not be their close friend. Pastors need close friends who will encourage them, hold them accountable, and push them toward Christ.

Father, please give my pastor true, deep, sustaining friendships. Give him friends who stick closer than brothers. Who uphold him when he’s weary. Who help carry his burdens.

Helpful Resource:

Sustained By Prayer

In some ways, pastors are sustained by the prayers of their people. Obviously, God is the one who ultimately sustains pastors, but one of his primary means is through the prayers for pastors.

When it comes to why you should pray for your pastor, take the words of Charles Spurgeon to heart:

No man can do me a truer kindness in this world than to pray for me.

Do your pastor a true kindness today. Pray for your pastor.

54 Powerful Prayer for Pastors and Church Leaders Points

Prayer Of Encouragement For Our Pastor

Home Intercession 54 Powerful Prayer for Pastors and Church Leaders Points

Having been involved in ministry for a while now, I know just how stressful shepherding people can be. This is especially true for those who are truly sold out to the cause. A study carried out by Duke Divinity School revealed that the rate of depression among pastors is about double of that of everyone else.

The rate was slightly lower for pastors who were interviewed in person. One could accredit this to the pastors not wanting to burden others with their burdens. This is the way that our pastors are trained in general.  //today.duke.edu/2013/08/clergydepressionnewsrelease

As the body of Christ, we are called to hold each other up. The ones we often turn to and depend on need to know that at the very minimum they can depend on us to lift them up in prayer. Some of the greatest scandals that have rocked the church have been a result of mishaps and misfortunes of leaders.

These people are no deities; they are just as humane as any one of us. Expectations are higher for them, and so are some of the temptations and scrutiny that they face daily. Above that, they also carry additional problem that their flocks are facing at any given time. This is not easy, by any stretch of the imagination.

Matthew 26:31

Then Jesus told them, “This very night you will all fall away on account of me, for it is written: “‘I will strike the shepherd, and the sheep of the flock will be scattered.’

The scripture above illustrates the key issue here. The enemy’s strategy will always be to target the ones who are in leadership positions. Jesus himself recognised this, as was said in Zechariah 13:7. Our prayers should stand guard over our shepherds. This is what these prayer points are about. As we stand guard over the men and women of God, the Lord will cover all of us.

Beyond the pastors, there are various leaders in ministries. These may be standing in official positions or simply functioning in said capacity. We want to lift these servants up to the Lord as well. Every individual who gives their time and effort to the work of the Lord within the church.

Father keep our shepherds in the right place, may we not be scattered. Uphold and uplift their being, their standing and their voice. May they always stand in and rely on you! Guide and keep us oh Lord! We pray over every person that will raise their voice to you on behalf of their pastors and leaders. Bless and keep them oh Lord. In Jesus’ name. Amen

Day to Day Ministry

2 Tim 4:2 Preach the word; be prepared in season and season; correct, rebuke and encourage—with great patience and careful instruction.

  1. We want to pray that our pastors would be empower by the Holy Spirit in the preaching of the word.
  2. Give them boldness oh Lord, to speak matters of your heart and not to seek to please man.
  3. Give our pastors boldness to stand as corrector to the flock. In these times where wickedness goes unchecked in the church. Let our pastors arise.
  4. Grant our pastors and leaders grace to be encouragers of the body of Christ. Give them wisdom to know what to say!
  5. May their walk in Christ be filled with patience. May their footsteps bring peace and joy!
  6. May their walk be blameless before you! Raise them to truly be men and women after your own heart.

Keeping Watch

Acts 20:28 Keep watch over yourselves and all the flock of which the Holy Spirit has made you overseers. Be shepherds of the church of God, which he bought with his own blood.

  1. Father we thank you for the gift of stewardship. We thank you for the flocks that you have given pastors to watch over. Grant them grace to lead as you would.
  2. May the value of the flock be never diminished in their eyes. May they always remember the price that you paid for every single person under their care.
  3. Grant our leaders grace to remain watchful over themselves, that they may not stray from your will, oh Lord!

  2. Lord we pray for the body of Christ. Grant us grace to submit to authority of the office that our leaders stand under. Give us wisdom to respect the anointing you have placed on these men and women.
  3. May our ministries not be a burden for the leaders. Let them be a great source of strength and of joy.

To whom much is given

James 3:1 Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.

Servant Hearted Leadership

1 Peter 5:1-4 To the elders among you, I appeal as a fellow elder and a witness of Christ’s sufferings who also will share in the glory to be revealed:

2 Be shepherds of God’s flock that is under your care, watching over them—not because you must, but because you are willing, as God wants you to be; not pursuing dishonest gain, but eager to serve;

3 not lording it over those entrusted to you, but being examples to the flock.

4 And when the Chief Shepherd appears, you will receive the crown of glory that will never fade away.

  1. Father we pray that our pastors, deacons, elders and all others serving in ministry would never forget the honour that it is to be able to serve your people.
  2. Raise leaders who are more keen to wash others’ feet than to have their own feet washed.
  3. May your gospel not be tainted by greed, oh Lord.
  4. Father, may our leaders be exemplary in all that they do.
  5. As church leaders, Lord we pray that we always remember that we are stewards of all that is in our hands. Grant us grace to multiply and not to hoard for ourselves.

Strength and Perseverance

Isaiah 40:31 but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

  1. Father we pray for all pastors going through tough periods. Renew their strength.
  2. May they never forget that they can lean on you. Grant them humility and wisdom to know when they are weary and in need of rest. More than anything, grant them wisdom to seek you in these times.
  3. We pray that you would raise a solid support system for our leaders. We come against the spirit of loneliness, in Jesus’ name.
  4. We declare that our pastors will hope in you, oh Lord. They will soar eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.

Prayer Points for Pastors: Unshakable leadership

1 Corinthians 15:58 Therefore, my dear brothers and sisters, stand firm. Let nothing move you. Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

  1. Father we thank you for the families of church leaders. We thank your for the sacrifices that they also have to make. There is a cost to them as well, as their loved ones serve. Bless them oh Lord!
  2. We pray for leaders who have sown seed but are yet to see fruit. Give them wisdom to know to wait on you.
  3. Father let none of our service, as leaders be half-hearted. May we always be fully committed to all we do for you and through you!
  4. We come against the spirit of envy, and denominationalism. Grant us grace to walk in one accord, in Christ.

Do not be weary

Galatian 6:9 Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.

  1. Father we call upon a harvest for every seed sown in evangelism. Wherever the gospel has been shared, let it begin to take root.

  2. May our leaders never have to carry burdens alone.
  3. Grant us grace to be their providers as they provide for us spiritually.
  4. May our leaders be known to be yours even by how they spend their resources. Your word says that where our treasure is, is where our heart is. May their hearts be in you always.

The ministry of prayer

Acts 6:2 “But we will devote ourselves to prayer and to the ministry of the word.”

  1. Lord we banish the spirit of prayerlessness among our leaders. May they be men and women of prayer, more than they are doers.
  2. Let their actions be birthed in the prayer closet.
  3. We pray for our church prayer meetings to be uplifted.
  4. Let our church prayer meetings become incubators of your glory.
  5. We pray for overflow in the miraculous. Overflow in healing, in testimonies from time vested in prayer.

  8. Bring unity and harmony beyond our religious and denominational divides.
  9. Bring a prayer revival into our homes, into our workplaces, into our schools and more than ever, into our churches. In Jesus’ name.

We want to take this time to thank you for taking time to pray with us. Let us keep our churches and leaders uplifted through prayer. I remember reading how high the rates of suicide were among pastors. God forbid that this would become acceptable under our watch.

We are stewards even of our words, of our prayers. Let us not be the steward that buried his talent. May your mouth bring forth great things in your sphere, through Christ Jesus! Thanks for using these prayer points for pastors and church leaders.

Top 7 Bible Verses To Encourage Pastors

Prayer Of Encouragement For Our Pastor

Pastors have a very special calling on their lives, and they need to be appreciated, cherished and encouraged as much as possible. I read an article recently that stated that many pastors are retiring or changing careers these days, because it is such a challenging and difficult job.

My husband is a pastor, so I truly know and understand the challenges that he faces on a regular basis. I know the crazy schedule that he keeps and the tireless hours he works on behalf of our church family. Jesus said that he came that we might have an abundant life (John 10:10), and I know that this is true for pastors as well.

So here are my 7 top Bible verses to encourage my husband and all pastors.

God is the one who has called each one of us with a special purpose and career, and pastors are no exception. I chose this verse to encourage pastors, because I believe that it is important for our shepherds to know that God has their back.

He knows the sacrifices that they make selflessly for the body of Christ, and so it is the Lord who will renew their strength the eagles.

And even though they work hard, and run ahead leading the church, with God’s help they will not grow weary and will not faint.

Read 10 more encouraging Bible quotes

This is one of my top seven verses to encourage pastors, because the Lord is saying that it is He that is raising up and providing shepherds after his own heart.

God is the one who has blessed and called pastors with the talents, skills, and heart that the Lord wants for his people.

This verse also states that God is the one who gives shepherds and leaders the “food” for the sheep—in other words, He gives pastors the knowledge and understanding that they need to feed the sheep.

I believe that pastors get discouraged sometimes when things are tough or their sheep are struggling with various trials, so it is important for them to remember that they are working for the Lord. It is also helpful to focus on the fact that since their labor is for God, they do not work in vain.

Although good seed is being planted, it can take time for the seeds to grow and thrive. It’s important for pastors to hold fast to the hope they have in the Lord, knowing that in Him, good will win out in the end.

Disappointments and challenges will come, but the Lord encourages all of us, including pastors, to be steadfast and immovable no matter what.

This is a great verse to use in encouraging pastors, because it reminds them that their work is for a greater and eternal purpose. The Lord will give a harvest if they do not give up.

Colossians 3:23-24 goes along with this verse, as the apostle Paul states, “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward. You are serving the Lord Christ.

” In other words, God will reward preachers and shepherds for their work, and there will be a harvest—both in their own lives and in the lives of their sheep.

It’s easy to lose sight of the goodness of God while in the midst of daily tasks and weekly commitments, but God does everything to produce more of His goodness here on the earth. The work of a pastor is surely one of those avenues that brings glory to God.

I really this verse, because the Lord is telling all of us, including pastors, that He will supply all of our needs.

Financial and spiritual challenges are quite common in churches, and it is easy to get discouraged when God’s timing for provision is different than ours. However, in His infinite abundance, God will provide for our every need according to His riches in glory.

It is impossible to even imagine what God’s riches in glory entails, but this verse makes it very clear that he will provide for his people.

Pastors labor continuously for the Kingdom of God, and they are deserving of their wages. Over the years, there has often been controversy surrounding a preacher’s pay, but in this verse the Lord clearly states that a laborer is worthy of his paycheck. An ox is a hard working animal, and this verse explains that it deserves to eat some of the fruit of its labor.

wise, a pastor deserves to receive payment for his labor as well. a Father, God loves to bless His children, and He yearns for those children He has called to be pastors to thrive and succeed in their finances as much as anyone else.

Not only are they providing a very real service for their local body of believers and community, they are also providing spiritual nourishment and encouragement with eternal consequences.

In the book of Ephesians 4:11, the Lord explains that he is the one who has called us to be either apostles, prophets, evangelists, teachers and shepherds or pastors in his Kingdom.

So I feel that this verse in Hebrews is very encouraging, because the author is reminding the sheep that they should submit to their leaders in obedience and joy.

God wants our leaders to enjoy their work, as this calling is very important to the body of Christ.

CONCLUSION:

Pastors are such a blessing to the church and to the Kingdom of God, and we need to pray for them and encourage them at every opportunity.

Their job may seem thankless and even overwhelming sometimes, so lifting them up with words of encouragement, a note, or a small gift will go a long way in their lives.

I would to challenge you to pray about how you can encourage your pastor today, as one small act of kindness will go a long way in enhancing his or her joy and stamina on behalf of the body of Christ.

I feel blessed to be the pastor’s wife of a thriving church in northern Michigan and the mother of four amazing grown children. It is also very rewarding to be a Christian author, editor and translator for the Kingdom of God.

Some of my favorite pastimes include supporting my children’s contemporary Christian band ONLY9AM, singing on the worship team at church, traveling, and connecting with family and friends via social media.

When I am not working, I love spending time with my family and especially with my precious three-year-old grandson.

Powerful Prayer of Encouragement and Strength

Prayer Of Encouragement For Our Pastor

The topic of encouragement especially when centered around religion is intricate. Beloved—here, we explain with details how prayer and encouragement come together to form our topic for today called “Prayer of Encouragement”.

Motivational Quote: Be Barnabas the son of encouragement

Ask for the definition of encouragement and you'll get a cliché “Encouragement is the action of giving an individual support and it can be called motivation”. Regardless of the words and language you use though, God completely understands you.

Now, how can you define encouragement as a child of the Lord? You can define it as the motivational speech that our Father (God) gives us through the ambience of his all-encompassing energy. It encourages and guides us in all the actions we're to take in life.

An example of what we mean is in the Book of Exodus. Specifically, Chapter 17, verse 11.

It says “As long as Moses held up his hands, the Israelites were winning, but whenever he lowered his hands, the Amalekites were winning.”

In the verse above, God used Moses as His vessel to encourage the Israelites and as seen from the verse above, they won when God encouraged them. And wise that, you will also win whenever God encourages and fights your battles for you.

How to fully use these prayers

2 Chronicles 30:22

“Then Hezekiah spoke encouragingly to all the Levites who showed good insight in the things of the LORD So they ate for the appointed seven days, sacrificing peace offerings and giving thanks to the LORD God of their fathers.”

The Holy Church of Sepulcher advises you to always use short morning prayers as breakfast every day the Levites in the verse above.

This Prayer of encouragement is for who?

Your prayers of encouragement might be for a prayer for a friend, a job, your day, family, love interest, Church, etcetera. Essentially, this prayer is for anyone and everyone you can think of (yourself included). Why is this so? We all simply need a pat on the back.

This reassures us of our existence and importance in life. And if you ask us, there's no one better to encourage/reassure us than our Creator Himself—Lord, Jesus Christ.

In acknowledgement of that, here are the beautiful motivational prayers that you can use daily (morning, noon, and evening).

Prayer of encouragement in your faith

Father Lord God, the mightiest of the above and the divine creator of all. We firstly want to thank you for the past days we've lived—how you kept us far from harm's way and sheltered our family. We also want to thank you for uplifting us when we were in doubt of your power and we hope you'll continue to do so.

Lord, every day, we ask you to renew our faiths in you and never let us waver from our path to Your Kingdom. We will not, by Your grace, fall to any temptation and we'll stand valiantly as Your sons and daughters in the face of sin. We thank you for the opportunity to have this prayer this morning/night and we exalt your name.

Amen.

Prayer of encouragement for a friend

Lord Jesus, I have a friend who's in need of your help. He/she has been discouraged due to one issue or the other and is now suffering from depression. I'm concerned about what he or she will do if left in this state so I pray you uplift and rejuvenate his/her spirit oh Lord. Father be with him/her and solve his/her problems because it's within your power to do so.

You're the omniscient and omnipotent God who delivered the Israelites from the hands of the Pharaoh. You know what she's passing through even more than him/her. So, I pray Lord Christ, that you grant him/her the necessary strength and support to pull through these circumstances. Thank you for this miracle oh Lord and we appreciate the upcoming testimonies—in Jesus Name I pray.

Amen.

Prayer of encouragement, support, and strength for the family

God, as we stand before you today as a congregation, we pray for the sake of this family. We hope, oh Lord, that you empower us with your support and be our pillar of strength.

Lord Jesus, we want you to encourage this family as a whole in our times of need. We're absolutely nothing without you but we're everything when we stand with you.

So, Jesus, be with our souls and once more, give us encouragement in the form of peace, unity, and blessings.

Prayer of encouragement to start the day

Heavenly Father, I thank You for the grace You granted me through the night. You paved a good day yesterday and I worked with Your blessings on me. But now, today is a new day Lord and I need your divine favour.

So, as Your presence uplifts me and Your words provides courage when needed. I wise ask for Your encouragement in our faith to You—so as to be before You tomorrow and talk once again with Your divine being.

Thank You for hearing us today—we glorify Your name. Amen.

Prayer of encouragement for healing

Father God, Your divine touch is needed in our lives. A simple touch of the hem of Your garment by the woman in Matthew 9:20 completely healed her of her ailment. We pray not to touch Your garment only Lord.

We want You to embrace us and encourage our body, soul, and mind to heal in Your divine shelter. You are the most divine in all of Heavens and we need You to take charge.

Exaltations we'll give after our miracles oh Lord—thank You for our answered prayer, Amen.
