Scripture Prayer for Success and Provision

Prayer For Wisdom To Use My Wealth Wisely

by Cindy Vander Haar

Scripture Prayer

Thank you for visiting Scripture Prayer for Success and Provision.  To fully understand the principles of praying scripturally, please read the teaching “Why Pray Scripture?” .

Hearing God: As it is rare to hear an audible voice from God, one of the ways God will speak to us is through His written Word and a small still voice inside us.

Before reviewing the scripture references below that address what the Bible says about success and provision ask the Holy Spirit of revelation to join you.

When certain verses capture your attention more than others, meditate and  incorporate those into your personal daily prayer life.

Heavenly Father, we ask You to give complete knowledge of Your Will to this reader, and to give him/her Your spiritual wisdom and understanding as they seek You with all their hearts and lean not on their own understanding.  In Jesus’ name we pray.  Amen.

Success and Provision Scripture References

(All scripture is quoted from the King James Version unless otherwise noted.)

Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in every way and (that your body) may keep well, even as (I know) your soul keeps well and prospers. In fact, I greatly rejoiced when (some of) the brethren from time to time arrived and spoke (so highly) of the sincerity and fidelity of your life, as indeed you do live in the Truth (the whole Gospel presents). 3 John 2 (AMP)

Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom. For with the same measure that ye mete withal it shall be measured to you again. Luke 6:38

Do not fret because of evil men or be envious of those who do wrong; for the grass they will soon wither, green plants they will soon die away. Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture. Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Commit your way to the Lord; trust in him and he will do this: He will make your righteousness shine the dawn, the justice of your cause the noonday sun. Be still before the Lord and wait patiently for him; do not fret when men succeed in their ways, when they carry out their wicked schemes.

Refrain from anger and turn from wrath; do not fret—it leads only to evil. For evil men will be cut off, but those who hope in the Lord will inherit the land. A little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look for them, they will not be found. But the meek will inherit the land and enjoy great peace.

Psalm 37:1-11 (NIV)

If any of you is deficient in wisdom, let him ask of the giving God (Who gives) to everyone liberally and ungrudgingly, without reproaching or faultfinding, and it will be given him. James 1:5 (AMP)

No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD. Isaiah 54:17

And he shall be a tree planted by the rivers of water, that bringeth forth his fruit in his season; his leaf also shall not wither; and whatsoever he doeth shall prosper. Psalm 1:3

Delight thyself also in the LORD: and he shall give thee the desires of thine heart. Psalm 37:4

Thy word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path. Psalm 119:105

Let them shout for joy, and be glad, that favour my righteous cause: yea, let them say continually, Let the LORD be magnified, which hath pleasure in the prosperity of his servant. Psalm 35:27

Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:  That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith. Galatians 3:13

Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the LORD, and depart from evil.

It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. Honour the LORD with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

Proverbs 3:5-10

The LORD will perfect that which concerneth me: thy mercy, O LORD, endureth for ever: forsake not the works of thine own hands. Psalm 138:8

But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

But thou shalt remember the LORD thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. Deuteronomy 8:18

Commit thy works unto the LORD, and thy thoughts shall be established. Proverbs 16:3

The blessing of the LORD, it maketh rich, and he addeth no sorrow with it. Proverbs 10:22

And I will restore to you the years that the locust hath eaten, the cankerworm, and the caterpiller, and the palmerworm, my great army which I sent among you. And ye shall eat in plenty, and be satisfied, and praise the name of the LORD your God, that hath dealt wondrously with you: and my people shall never be ashamed. Joel 2:25-26

Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness. My fruit is better than gold, yea, than fine gold; and my revenue than choice silver. I lead in the way of righteousness, in the midst of the paths of judgment: That I may cause those that love me to inherit substance; and I will fill their treasures. Proverbs 8:17-21

He that handleth a matter wisely shall find good: and whoso trusteth in the LORD, happy is he. Proverbs 16:20

He that getteth wisdom loveth his own soul: he that keepeth understanding shall find good. Proverbs 19:8

The liberal soul shall be made fat: and he that watereth shall be watered also himself. Proverbs 11:25

Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the  firstfruits of all thine increase: So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and they presses shall burst out with new wine. Proverbs 3:9-10

Will a man rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, “How do we rob you?” In tithes and offerings. You are under a curse—the whole nation of you- because you are robbing me. Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house.

Test me in this, says the Lord Almighty, and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that you will not have room enough for it. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in your fields will not cast their fruit, says the Lord Almighty.

Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land, says the Lord Almighty. Malachi 3:8-11 (NIV)

He who hath a bountiful eye shall be blessed; for he giveth of his bread to the poor. Proverbs 22:9

Cast not away therefore your confidence, which hath great recompence of reward. Hebrew 10:35

It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep. Psalms 127:2

But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. Matthew 6:33

Every man according as he purposeth in his heart, so let him give; not grudgingly, or of necessity: for God loveth a cheerful giver. 2 Corinthians 9:7

He revealeth the deep and secret things: he knoweth what is in the darkness, and the light dwelleth with him. Daniel 2:22

Now it shall come to pass, if you diligently obey the voice of the Lord your God, to observe carefully all His commandments which I command you today, that the Lord your God will set you high above all nations of the earth. And all these blessings shall come upon you and overtake you, because you obey the voice of the Lord your God… Deuteromony 28:1

I have given you authority to trample on snakes and scorpions and to overcome all the power of the enemy; nothing will harm you.  However, do not rejoice that the spirits submit to you, but rejoice that your names are written in heaven. Luke 10:19 (NIV)

…Continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, for it is God who works in you to will and to act according to his good purpose. Philippians 2:13  (NIV)

Dear Lord,

I come before You in the name of Your son, Jesus Christ, and I praise you and thank you that You are Jehovah Jireh, my God and provider. I thank you for the many ways You have provided for me and my family and that it is Your desire that we would prosper and be in good health even as our souls prosper.

Help me to prosper my soul in Your Word and to listen to Your instruction and acquire wisdom. Thank you that Your blessings bring wealth and You add no sorrow to it as You fill our treasuries for Your glory. Your gifts are better than the purest gold, Your wages better than sterling silver.

I ask for wisdom and Godly counsel so that I can work wisely and prosper and be satisfied.

Lord, You have said that You will show me a way my problems. I ask for that now. Forgive me where I have been fearful, greedy, or foolish in my work and my finances.

Help me to have integrity and wisdom and to persevere in righteousness. Forgive me for idolatry to the things of this world and help me to love You more. And I ask that You mercifully restore my losses.

I choose to walk in righteousness, in paths of justice, and to love and honor You, Oh Lord.

Dear Lord, I confess and declare that I will trust in You and lean not to my own understanding for You have said that You perfect the things that concern me. You even give to Your children as we sleep.

Lord, I will seek first Your kingdom and Your righteousness. I will praise You for the wonderful things You do. I will not throw away my confidence in You, Lord. My hope is in You and I will persevere and receive Your promises in my life.

And I will honor and serve You all the days of my life.

I chose to be a cheerful giver and to be generous for that is Your heart, and You have said that a generous man will prosper.

I will give ten percent of my income to You, Lord, and I will watch the windows of Heaven open and poor out a blessing just as You have said.

Give me Your heart for the poor that I would joyfully give offerings and gifts to those in need. And thank you that as I give, it will be given unto me.

Thank you that I am a tree that’s planted by the rivers of water and whatever I do will prosper by Your grace because I belong to You, and You take pleasure in the prosperity of Your servants. You give me the ability to produce wealth for Your kingdom without shame or sorrow. If You are for me, who can be against me? You are awesome and I am humbled by Your love and grace.

I am thankful that Your love for me endures forever and Your plans for me are always for good and not for calamity. Thank you for Your great and precious promises that I can inherit through faith and patience.

I am so grateful that You are at work within me to cause me to desire and to do Your will.

I commit my work, my giving, and my finances to You, and ask that You cause my thoughts to become agreeable to Your will so that I will succeed to Your glory.

I thank you, Jesus, that on the cross You set me free from the curses of the law (Deuteronomy 28) of sickness, poverty, and eternal death. In Your name, I believe these things are broken off my life. Show me how to walk the habits of them.

And I receive the blessings of health, prosperity and eternal life that are mine through Your shed blood on the cross. I thank you, Lord, that You will reveal the things that are unseen and You will show me the way to prosperity and success as I honor You. I love you, Lord.

Your grace is truly amazing and all the glory is Yours.

 In Jesus’ mighty name,  Amen

How to Manage Your Money with Godly Wisdom – Counting My Blessings

Prayer For Wisdom To Use My Wealth Wisely

My dad s to tell the story of how he almost tried to talk me taking my first teaching position because the salary was so small.

I had just graduated from college and received a call to teach at a small Christian school in St. Louis, where Rev would be attending seminary. I wanted to teach and I needed a job.

Truthfully, I didn’t feel I had many options.

So, I accepted that low-paying position … just glad to have a job doing something I loved.

When Rev and I looked ahead at our lives together, we knew we’d chosen careers in ministry . . . we weren’t expecting to get rich.

Because our income was so small we knew we had to budget very carefully.

We didn’t have credit cards; so, we couldn’t spend what we didn’t have which in retrospect was a blessing.

We not only managed … we were happy.

Then we had an early financial lesson…

Part of Rev’s Seminary training included something called Field Work at a local congregation and one of his assignments was to make evangelism calls with one of the members of our church.

Harry was a wise, kind man whom Rev and I both loved and respected.

While they were out making calls, Harry asked, “Do you and Debbie tithe?”

Tithe? We had no money. We were barely making ends meet.

Rev replied, “We give, but not a tithe. We plan to as soon as we can.”

Harry said something we will never forget, “No you won’t. You’ll never tithe if you wait for the right income. Tithing is not a money issue it’s a faith issue.

Rev’s initial reaction was to feel defensive, although he didn’t say anything. But Harry’s words had planted an important seed that inspired a very important and much needed discussion as soon as he got home.

And…

We started tithing that weekend.

Sure we had to rework our budget a bit, but it was so worth it. It was a faith commitment that we praise God for helping us make.

Money is a huge issue for everyone. Whether you have a little or you have a lot … as individuals and especially as couples, money is a big deal and God knew it would be.

Thankfully, He didn’t leave us to figure it out on our own, He gave us lots wise direction.

For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. And some people, craving money, have wandered from the true faith and pierced themselves with many sorrows. 1 Timothy 6:10

1. Remember everything belongs to God.

You and I are simply stewards for a time.

The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it. The world and all its people belong to Him. Psalm 24:1

2. Pray. Ask God for wisdom to manage your money well.

Part of recognizing that it’s all God’s is asking Him for direction to be a good steward of His blessings.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Philippians 4:6

3. Make a budget and stick to it.

If you’re in debt, work to get it.  Don’t spend what you don’t have.

The rich rules over the poor. The man who uses something that belongs to someone else is ruled by the one who let him use it. Proverbs 22:7

4. Know where you spend your money.

Take a few months to a year to document every penny spent so you will know where you can make changes in an emergency. Rev and I did this one for several years and although I’ll admit I wasn’t a fan, it helped us know what we could eliminate when we needed to rein in our spending.

A wise person should have money in their head, but not in their heart. ~Jonathan Swift

5. Take care of what you have.

New always seems attractive and exciting but part of being a good steward is simply caring for the blessings you already have.

Learn all you can about your sheep. Take care of your goats the best you can. Neither wealth nor nations last forever. Proverbs 27:23–24

6. Don’t compare what you have with your friends and neighbors.

You and I will always want bigger and better if we’re comparing and envious of what the people around us enjoy.

“When the Lord makes it clear you’re to follow Him in this new direction, focus fully on Him and refuse to be distracted by comparisons with others.” ~Charles R. Swindoll

7. Don’t shop for recreation and entertainment.

Many unnecessary purchases happen while you and I are out just “looking.”

“Living with intention means saying no to the things that aren’t important to us so we can say yes to what matters most.” ~Crystal Paine

8. Start a savings plan.

Even a small one will help you prepare for future needs or emergencies. Rev and I put 10% into our savings when we started giving 10% back to God.

“Financial peace isn’t the acquisition of stuff. It’s learning to live on less than you make, so you can give money back and have money to invest. You can’t win until you do this.” ~Dave Ramsey

9. Tithe!

It will bless you in every way. Our faith commitment to give 10% years ago came with a hope that someday we’d be able to give even more than a tithe. By God’s grace, there have been many years when He has made that possible.

Honor the Lord with your wealth, with the firstfruits of all your crops. Proverbs 3:9

10. Praise God!

If you are reading this. If you live in a house with clean running water, windows, heat, food and a way to prepare it . . . you’re rich! You are blessed! So many people around the world live without things you and I take for granted. Thank and praise God and be generous with those in need.

Rejoice always, pray continually, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. 1 Thessalonians 5:16–18

The real measure of your wealth is how much you’d be worth if you lost all your money. –Anonymous

The best part of managing your money with Godly wisdom is that it comes with His peace and contentment.  No amount of money or luxurious possession is worth that sacrifice.

Essay on Wisdom: Top 4 Essays on Wisdom

Prayer For Wisdom To Use My Wealth Wisely

Wisdom is one of the highest forms of human characteristics. Through wisdom, virtues can be brought to life.

The beauty of wisdom is that it is not dependent on the theories that are written in books, or the curriculum in the schools and colleges. It is not something that can be transferred just by talking about it. Wisdom is how life shapes us.

It is about the impacts that we have upon our soul while going through all sorts of pleasant and unpleasant experiences of life.

Various Versions But One

Many philosophers, religious institutions, and educationalists have defined wisdom in their own definite ways. Some try to relate it to the right way of living, some say that wisdom is acknowledging and being answerable to God for all the deeds. It has also been known to associate with decision-making between right and wrong, habits speaking truth, following the moral values.

Intelligence is Not Always Wisdom

Although, on a more spiritual note, or a generic note, as we may say, wisdom is not confined to some rules or paths. A collection of experiences and virtues shape our wisdom. One may have a wide range and depth of knowledge but that doesn’t necessarily make her/him wise.

Illustrations

There are so many beautiful illustrations reflecting light on the uniqueness and significance of wisdom. It is very simple and possible for almost anybody to learn to fire a gun. But not everybody is capable of making the right decision about when to and when not to fire the gun. This decision-making requires wisdom.

The Importance of Wisdom

But why so much fuss about wisdom? How does it make our life different or change it? Well, wisdom takes us above the loop of feelings, emotions, and the whirlpools of envy, restlessness, and anger.

It brings peace to the heart and to the mind as well.

It is only through wisdom, that one may realize that forgiving others bad deeds, ignoring their faults, and being kind and accepting to all is the highest and truest virtues of all human beings.

Wisdom is the germination of the seeds of empathy, compassion, and kindness. It is the eruption of unconditional love toward every soul, whether human beings, animals, or trees. Wisdom gives us the ability to see the beauty and real power of nature. In true words, this is the real way of being close to God.

It is only through wisdom that one understands and realizes that religions, rules of worshipping, and confining God to being a particular person or version are nothing but just a human way of interpretation of the power of nature.

To a wise person, they look mere concepts to him and he/she is able to go beyond these things. The definition of God, the right path, the understanding of the whole universe changes to him. Wisdom gets us the chains of the societal norms and allows us to look past them.

It shows us the real purpose of life and gifts us with the power to attain and live with that true purpose.

Essay on Relationship Between Wisdom and Knowledge

Many of us may get confused when asked about the difference or relationship between wisdom and knowledge. On the surface level, both look similar, if not the same. But the thing is, wisdom is more abstract in nature and knowledge is somewhat technical.

Knowledge

Knowledge comes from reading, exploring, learning, and educating oneself. In order to increase the knowledge, one can turn toward reading more books or learning and specializing in a skill. In other words, it is measurable up to a certain extent.

Wisdom

Wisdom is what life and its experiences teach us. Being wise is not the same as being intelligent. It is about much more than just the skills and mastery of a subject.

In fact, wisdom is about human virtues, that makes us different from other animal species.

These virtues are developing empathy, having compassion and kindness, becoming more self-aware of our thoughts, emotions, and feelings.

Wisdom and Knowledge

The difference between the two is very subtle. However, if put into simpler words, it is not that difficult to understand either.

One can gain knowledge and know what is right and wrong, what is healthy and what is unhealthy, how to perform a task, how to drive, how to cook. All these things can be learned and specialized in.

But, the ability to decide what is right and what is wrong, the capacity to choose the right and skip the wrong, comes from wisdom.

In another way, the ability to use the learned knowledge in the best and most ethical way is called wisdom. Knowing how to use the knowledge is wisdom. Knowledge can be given but wisdom cannot. Knowledge can be learned but wisdom can only be attained.

An example would be the best way to understand the concepts deeply. So, for instance, all kinds of thoughts, whether positive or negative, healthy or toxic, happy or sad come to our mind. We feel them and know that these feelings are a very natural part of human beings. This is knowledge.

But understanding, observing, and staying aware and detached of these thoughts requires wisdom. Wisdom takes us to a much higher level and answers the riddle of why we are feeling in a particular way and whether we should act on those feelings or not. That judgment call depends on our wisdom.

There have been many philosophical, religious, and educational versions and definitions of wisdom and knowledge. Nonetheless, all lead to the same conclusion.

Everybody knows and has been taught about the right way of living but not all can do it really. That is where a fine demarcation comes between knowledge and wisdom.

To be able to apply the knowledge, to be able to think, and acknowledge why things are the way they are, makes us wise.

Thus, it is only through wisdom that we begin to behave beyond the petty attributes self-obsession, jealousy, anger and instead, learn to grow as a human being filled with compassion, empathy, acceptance, and love for all.

Essay on Wisdom is Power

The human race has wondered and marveled for a long time for its distinguished ability to behave and think differently than other animal species. We have highly evolved emotional, mental, and social etiquette.

But is that the end of the list? Of course not. There is something very peculiar about us which makes us stand out as a species, which transforms us from Homo Sapiens into human beings. And that is called wisdom.

Seeking Wisdom

There is a reason why people do not find peace in spite of being surrounded by all kinds of materialistic pleasures. There is also a reason why many people living a highly comfortable and rich life, leave it just that and set out to explore something that is still unknown to them.

In India, such ways of life are not new to us. We have always been surrounded bys saints and celibates. The culture in India has long been enriching.

It has always focused less on physical pleasures and more on the seeking nature within us.

After a certain point, we all begin to realize that the worldly amusements can only satisfy us on a superficial level but cannot quench our soul. For our spiritual growth, something deeper is needed.

What is not Wisdom

All around us, we see the world burning with feelings of competition, unsparing greed, unforgiveness, jealousy, anger, and what not. And this is not the story of those who lack basic amenities to a dignified life. This is the case of people who have everything in abundance but peace and gratitude.

Wisdom takes us from this path of uncertainty and shallowness and brightens up with the light of truth. And that same truth would liberate us. This is the power of wisdom.

Wisdom is not restricted to listening to some discourses or following the religious rites and rituals.

It is about realizing the darkness of greed, that the constant need for competing with each other is nothing but just a bottomless pit. A whirlpool of desires.

Wisdom is Empowering

Through our experiences comes a realization that the peace of our mind is in our hands. This is the most empowering thing that can happen to us and no book can teach this to us.

It is reaching and activating the seeds and portals of consciousness which were dormant within us till now. The whole phenomenon enriches us at a much deeper level and calms down the inside chaos.

After which, we start to see the beauty in everything and learn to accept life the way it is. Our heart is filled with forgiveness and compassion.

Wisdom frees us from the chains of a limited mind so that we do not remain the slaves of our own desires. Books can teach us what is just and what is unjust. But the power of standing and walking down that just path is provided by our wisdom. This spiritual and emotional advancement is irreplaceable and can only become possible through wisdom.

Essay on True Wisdom Come from Experience

They say that life changes you and shapes you nothing else can. That there is a great difference between knowing something and living it. Well, it is quite true in the case of wisdom. True wisdom comes only from experience.

What the Life Phases Teach Us

Let us recall how we felt when we were just a kid. Life looked so uncomplicated and manageable at that time. Then, came teenage. Our own definition of life was metamorphosed a bit. We realized that after all, life is not that simple. It is not confined to having your favorite meals and dresses.

When we crossed teenage and entered into adulthood, even the young age years looked dreamy and we again felt that life is more than just having a relationship. It is more about making yourself independent, taking care of ourselves and our loved ones. Being responsible and accountable for our decisions and choices topped the list of our way of living.

How Experience Shapes Us

We all travel different paths of life. The ups and downs of our lives are unique. It is interesting to observe that same event or experience can be perceived in a completely non-identical way by two different persons.

The impacts and effects of a trauma, a joy, or any other major change of events may not be the same for both of them.

This is the reason, even after going through the same phases and stages of living in this world, we may end up having dissimilar perceptions of life.

Wisdom is Independent

There is no specific set of rules to becoming wise. What’s more intriguing is that having the same age, gender, or ethnicity does not make two people wise in the same way. Wisdom is independent of these factors. A person may attain wisdom at the age of 20, that doesn’t in any way mean that another person of age 40 would be double wise.

True Wisdom

Truth is, true wisdom can only be attained through experiencing life and that means having experienced it in its fullest form.

Understanding that life is not always about being happy, satisfaction, or running for temptations. In fact, sorrow, pain, tragedy, self-restraint are a part of it.

True wisdom teaches us that if life has to be embraced, then, the only way to do that is through acceptance, self-observation, and with full consciousness.

With practice, wisdom takes us above the basic instincts. It doesn’t let us be reduced to mere puppets in the hands of our instant gratification. Wisdom gives our mind the power to differentiate between justified and unjustified and act accordingly.

Experiencing the bright and dark, both faces of life, are we filled with love, kindness, compassion, and non-judgment toward others and also ourselves. And there is no shortcut to that. Every event in the life has a purpose. It is trying to teach us something.

Opening our mind and soul to it fully is what wisdom teaches us.
