Prayer For Understanding To Pray Into God’s Will

Praying Within The Will of God

Prayer For Understanding To Pray Into God’s Will

By Brad Andres

Praying within the will of God is a point of interest for most followers of Christ.

How do you pray within the will of God? How do you know the will of God? These are common questions which oftentimes receive a variety of answers.

One of the most direct passages which speak to these questions is quoted above. However, this passage offers an encouragement about prayers within Gods will. It does not directly tell us how to pray in Gods will, nor how to discover His will. However, it provides for us a reassurance that God is more awesome and supportive than we may already believe.

We are going to highlight pieces of this verse in order to bring a little more understanding into the idea of praying within Gods will.

Weakness

Our weakness is our ignorance. It is displayed by the fact that we have to ask questions in which we really do not know the answers to. In this passage, our weakness is proven in that we do not always know what to pray for. However, God has provided strength to aid our weakness.

Spirit

The main subject in this passage is not ourselves; it is the Spirit of God. It must be noted that the Spirit intercedes for us. Gods Spirit is not teaching us how to pray, but He is praying for us. This prayer from the Spirit often occurs without our knowledge of its happening.

Groans in the Old Testament referred to an unarticulated prayer from Gods people in their time of weakness, the desert wanderings. Their groans called out for Gods completion of his promise to bring them into the promised land.

Gods Will

Now the Spirit is calling out for the completion of Gods will in our lives. He is interceding for us, praying on our behalf, that Gods will be completed within a certain situation. Furthermore, God, who knows our most intimate needs and desires also knows what the Spirit is praying as it is perfectly in line with Gods will.

We have Jesus interceding for us on the right hand of the Father in heaven, and we have the Spirit interceding for us on earth. There is more prayer happening for us than we have the capacity to pray ourselves! In addition, this prayer is directed by Gods will!

Its almost a no brainer that the next verse following our passage is so encouraging:

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.

Romans 8:28

While this verse is usually given as an encouragement by itself for understanding Gods will, it is the completion of a larger encouragement on the prayer of Gods will! The word and is the connection of these verses, in other translations the word furthermore is used, which shows the idea of building upon the previous verses.

What We May Know

In conclusion, we may desire to know what Gods will is, and rightfully so. We should seek to understand Gods will in all situations. However, we are weak. A cognitive understanding of Gods will in all situations is not ly to be realized until we are made perfect with Him in the new age.

In the meantime, while waiting for the completion of His promise, we have the Spirit to intercede for us in full agreement with Gods will. Just as the Israelites longed for completion of Gods promise to enter the promised land with groanings, so too does the Spirit long with groanings for completion of Gods promise to see His completed work within us.

So while we may search for understanding of Gods will, we must be sure to rest knowing that God is on our side. He is helping us, His Spirit is praying for us, and everything is coming together as God is directing. Although we may not understand, we can know God is working for the positive in our lives.

How beautiful it is, that Gods will is being prayed for us, all while we have no clue of its happening. How awesome is our God, that He is providing for us beyond our scope of understanding!

Thank you God, for helping me in my weaknesses. I will continue to search for your will in all situations. But please, help me rest in the assurance that you are on my side.

Let me find peace knowing that youre working on my behalf. Let me understand your will, but furthermore, let me understand that your Spirit is praying for the completion of your will in my life on a daily basis. Return soon Lord Jesus and finish your work in us, that we may be perfect and completely one together with you.

Amen.

How to Pray to God? 4 Keys to Praying to God We Shall Know

Prayer For Understanding To Pray Into God’s Will

Prayer is often overlooked by us in our daily life. Often times, we pray before God perfunctorily, just going through the formalities.

Never have we presented our hearts before God to have true prayers, and we just hurriedly come before Him to pray and look up to Him when we encounter some issues.

It is because of such an attitude that we don’t know how to pray to God, even if we have believed in Him for many years. Today, let’s share how to pray to God together.

1. What Does It Mean to Truly Pray?

One day, a friend of mine came to my home and had a gathering with me.

In talking about this topic, she took out a book and read to me: “What does it mean to truly pray? It means speaking the words within your heart to God, and communing with God having grasped His will and based upon His words; it means feeling particularly close to God, feeling that He is in front of you, and that you have something to say to Him; and it means being especially radiant within your heart, and feeling that God is especially lovely. You will feel especially inspired, and after hearing your words your brothers and sisters will feel gratified, they will feel that the words you speak are the words within their hearts, the words they wish to say, and that what you say represents what they want to say. This is what it means to truly pray”. This paragraph of words allowed me to understand: A true prayer means speaking our heartfelt words to God and opening our hearts to commune with Him about our difficulties, things that we face, and the questions we don’t understand. Through praying to God and drawing close to Him, we understand His will and find the ways of practice. With prayer such as this, we can be clear-minded and enlightened under the guidance of God, so that we can see the true nature of problems more thoroughly. In the meantime, we can feel that God is right by our side; our hearts will feel particularly close to Him and our relationship with Him gradually gets closer. If we always pray to God in this way, our prayers will be after His heart and surely be answered.

2. What Is the Content of Prayers?

Later we fellowshiped about the content of prayers. Many times our prayers before God are dry and banal and we don’t know what to say; we only spew out all difficulties and worries in our life and work to God, not caring whether it conforms to His will or not or whether He will listen to it, we just babble on and on reciting scripture.

As a result, we are unable to obtain the Holy Spirit’s work and our problems can’t be solved.

Is this not ignorant? Actually, the Lord Jesus has long since told us, “Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knows that you have need of all these things.

But seek you first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added to you”. From this passage of God’s words, we come to understand: Praying is not to seek what we will eat, drink, or wear. God has painstakingly arranged these material needs for us since we came into this world, and there is no need for us to pray for them.

This is similar to a mere child; does he need to tell his parents what he will eat and put on every day? No. All necessaries of his life have been arranged appropriately by his parents.

In many instances, we pray to God, “Lord, I have no a good job, please give me one,” “Lord, I’m being sorely pressed, please give me a chance to make money,” and so on; such kind of prayers is not in line with the will of God.

God has told us what the content of prayers ought to be, “You should pray, step-by-step, in accordance with your true state and that which is to be done by the Holy Spirit, and you should commune with God in keeping with God’s will and His requirements of man. … When you are possessed of this burden, God will surely make you perfect; you should not only pray for the sake of yourself, but also for the sake of carrying out the will of God, and for the sake of loving Him. Such is the truest kind of prayer”. Are your prayers for the purpose of carrying out the will of God? If we pray for ourselves, for the sake of satisfying our own flesh and selfish desires, God will definitely not accept our prayers.

3. What Is the Significance of Prayer?

Concerning the significance of prayer, after our fellowship, our understanding was: Only when we understand why we pray to God and the importance of prayer, will we place great importance on praying and pray with our hearts.

Only when we know the significance of whatever we do, can lots of problems be readily solved.

Then, after all, what’s the significance of prayer? God says, “Prayer is one of the ways in which man cooperates with God, it is a means by which man calls upon God, and it is the process by which man is touched by God’s Spirit.

It can be said that those who are without prayer are dead ones without spirit, proof that they lack the faculties to be touched by God.

Without prayer, they are unable to attain a normal spiritual life, much less are they able to follow the work of the Holy Spirit; without prayer, they sever their relationship with God, and are incapable of receiving God’s approval. Being someone who believes in God, the more you pray, the more you are touched by God. Such people have greater resolution and are more able to receive the latest enlightenment from God; as a result, only people this can be made perfect as soon as possible by the Holy Spirit”.

4. How Can We Enter Into True Prayer?

We have just fellowshiped that “What is true prayer?” Then how do we enter into true prayer? God’s words tell us the answer, “Whilst praying, your heart must be at peace before God, and it must be sincere. You are truly communing and praying with God; you must not deceive God using nice-sounding words. Prayer is centered around that which God wishes to complete today.

Ask God to bring you greater enlightenment and illumination, and bring your actual state and troubles before God to pray, and make resolution before God. Prayer is not the following of procedure, but the seeking of God using your true heart.

Ask that God protect your heart, making it able to often be at peace before God, making you able to know yourself, and despise yourself, and forsake yourself in the environment that God has set for you, thus allowing you to have a normal relationship with God and making you someone who truly loves God”.

These words make us understand: We can enter into true prayer as long as we grasp these three aspects: First, we must be quiet in front of God, speaking from the heart; we should never deceive God with words of praise and never cheat Him with falsehoods or empty words. Second, we should pray around actual things and the situation arranged by God.

For example, our practical difficulty is that we don’t know how to practice to be an honest person, yet we pray for God to purify us in that we still have arrogant disposition. So this will be wrong. If we pray this, it proves that we don’t possess the normal people’s thinking.

Third, praying is not to go through the process but to come before God sincerely to seek the related truth and the way of practice, through which we can gain the work of the Holy Spirit and have deeper knowledge of our own corrupt disposition and better understanding of God’s will to save man. Possessing these three aspects of practice, we are able to enter into true prayer.

Our gathering has enabled me to understand the above four aspects of the truth with regard to the practice of prayer. I hope it will help you. Thank the Lord! In the end, I’d to share with you the basic general knowledge of prayer:

1. Do not blindly say whatever comes to mind. There must be a burden within your heart, which is to say, you must have an objective when you pray.

2. Your prayers must contain the words of God; they must be based upon the words of God.

3. When praying, you cannot go over old ground; you must not bring up things that are outdated. You should specially train yourself to speak the actual words of the Holy Spirit; only then will you be able to make a connection with God.

4. Group prayer must be centered around a core, which must be the work of the Holy Spirit today.

5. All people must learn how to pray for others. They must find the part in God’s words that they wish to pray for, based upon which they must have a burden, and for which they must often pray. This is one manifestation of care for God’s will”.

Though I pray to God every day, many times I feel my prayer dull and dry as if the Lord doesn’t listen at all; many times I pray, He doesn’t fulfill my prayers; still many times I have nothing to say when praying.

How exactly to pray to God? I feel confused about that for a long time, and I haven’t find out a way to practice.

Thanks for the Lord’s guidance and the author’s sharing, I understand the significance of prayer, and know how to pray to God with a true heart in order to gain rapid spiritual growth. I have no clue whether you’re also in this state.

If you have any other practice and experience about praying, you’re welcome to leave messages to us or chat with us via the online window at the bottom of the website. We look forward to sharing God’s enlightenment with more and more brothers and sisters, growing together in Christ.

Prayer Pray God People , Sample of Essays

Prayer For Understanding To Pray Into God’s Will

We need to look at prayer with deeper thoughts. Prayer isn’t just closing your eyes, folding your hands and speaking. Prayer is a much more meaningful part of religion. We all need to pray, God himself demands us to pray. Prayer is defined as an act of God, a god or another object of worship, such as in devotion, confession, praise, or thanksgiving.

When most people pray, they just say the same prayer, the Lord’s prayer for example. Saying the same prayer isn’t really such a bad thing, its more about the meaning and the time that you spend praying.

Prayer shouldn’t just be looked at as a routine or habit, but as more of a love poem to express ones self to God.

Questions such as: why do we need to pray? What is this prayer? , and What does God command us to pray for? Are what we should be asking ourselves before we come to God in prayer. Prayer is a very important action in all of us as Christians.

We should know why we pray and why it is important. We should also know that prayer cant just come from our mouths but from our hearts as well. Our affections cling to self and to worldly objectives; our prayer cannot rise above their level no matter what words we use.

In Luke 11: 1 it says ” Lord, teach us to pray, as John also taught his disciples.” we should be taught to pray either from the church or from the people around us. Taught in a sense of listening, not actually taking lessons on it.

We need to pray because prayer is the most important part of the thankfulness that God requires from us.

The Term Paper on Christians Pray God Prayer Life

… stronger and deeper relationship with God; our prayers become our point of power. Definition of Prayer Pray is a means of … keeps us connected with God. Prayer is … God and man. Conclusion Prayer is one of the most important beliefs of Christians. Prayer helps us to develop a relationship with God. Pray …

God also gives his grace and holy spirit only to those who pray continually, asking for gifts in our lives and thanking him when we get them and not holding a grudge when we don’t. The prayer that we pray should be the one that comes straight from our hearts. Prayer shouldn’t be a job or a planned out speech.

The prayer that God tells us we should pray is the Lords prayer. “Our Father in heaven hallowed be your name your kingdom come your will be done as earth as it is in heaven… .

” this prayer summarizes the main things that we should pray for, telling God he is awesome, asking to provide, to forgive sins, and to prevent you from sinning, and that you will love God for ever and ever.

God doesn’t look at how good a prayer is, he doesn’t judge by quantity either. A short prayer can be just as, if not, more meaningful as a large one. God looks at the thought and meaning of the prayer. A prayer that comes straight from the heart is what God appreciates.

We need to pray for different things in life. God tells us what to pray for and what not to. He tells us to pray for everything that we need, spiritually and physically.

We can pray to God for almost anything except for absurd wants. God tells us to pray to no one else but Him.

When we pray God wants us to acknowledge to him our needs and misery, hiding nothing, he wants us to pray for everything on our minds coming from our hearts.

We don’t need to worry about our prayers being heard because Christ our Lord promises that they will be heard in his word. Some people only pray when they need to or want something.

God wants us to give thanks in our prayers and pray for others rather than ourselves. We need to look at prayer with more understanding of what God wants from us when we pray.

God wants us to pray to him all the time and thank him for all that he has given us.

Prayer should be looked into with deeper thoughts and more heart, not just a repetitive speech we do daily. Prayer helps, and people who pray regularly and mean it will be rewarded from God.

Sometimes God doesn’t show us the rewards he gives us physically, and some people need to see that. Even just living on this earth, being able to walk and talk, to be alive is the reward and we need to realize that.

Praying should be one of the most important part of our lives and we should mean our prayers by speaking from our hearts.

Learning to Pray Inquiring Prayers for God’s Work

Prayer For Understanding To Pray Into God’s Will

Have you ever felt that your service to God was ineffective? Fruitless? Without direction? I know I have.

What’s worse, we may sadly find out one day that all our work for God was presumptuous and displeasing to Him because He was not its Source or Initiator (Matt. 7:21-23).

In order to avoid this, we’ll consider in this post how to enter into a more effective Christian service by learning to pray inquiring prayers that honor Him.

What do we mean by inquiring prayers?

As a preface, it is important to realize that the prayer to fellowship with God is the foundation of prayer. I covered this first aspect of prayer  in my previous post,  Practical Points on How to Pray to Fellowship with the Lord.

our prayer for fellowship, we can progress to the second aspect of prayer—the prayer for inquiring. Inquiring prayers are prayers in which we open to God and allow Him to initiate His burden in us. We need to learn this type of prayer for both the Lord’s work, as well as for our personal needs.

Initiated by God

By first praying to fellowship with the Lord, we enter into God. Then, while we’re in fellowship with Him, the prayers that we pray will be something initiated by Him. He will give us His burden to pray and reveal His intention to us.

Consider the example of the five who were ministering to the Lord in Acts 13:1-4. It was while they were praying that the Holy Spirit gave them the burden for the spread of the gospel through the sending of  Barnabas and Saul.

More inquiring than petitioning

In this aspect of prayer there is more inquiring than petitioning. Petitioning is to tell God what we want Him to do for us. However, inquiring is to ask the Lord what is on His heart—what He wants us to pray for. Inquiring prayers are very good prayers because they honor God. It is by such prayers that God’s desire is made known to us.

It is as we are calmly inquiring of the Lord, step by step, point by point, that we can sense God’s leading and then work according to His leading.

For example, we may ask the Lord if He wants us to pray today for the spread of the gospel.

If we sense His leading for the gospel, we may inquire further if it His desire that we pray  for the salvation of our family members or our coworkers.

While inquiring, we may feel deeply burdened for a family member that is far from the Lord. Our heart may be touched even to tears. Sensing the Lord’s burden for this one’s salvation, we may further ask Him how He would have us to pray for him or her. We may specifically ask the Lord if this is the right time for us to visit this one.

Feeling peaceful about visiting, we may go on to inquire of the Lord concerning what He would have us to say. We may feel that the  Lord simply wants us to go and take time to listen to what interests them.

Being thorough

From the example above, we can see that our inquiring should be thorough and detailed. On our own we might just tell the Lord to save that person. But that is not thorough enough.

We need to inquire of the Lord for each detail. We may ask the Lord if it would be better to meet this  person at their home or at a coffee shop, by ourselves or with a companion.

Don’t think that this is too trivial.

Fulfilling the Principles of Prayer

We need to realize that many of our prayers in the past were not answered because we did not pray according to the principles of prayer. Just telling the Lord to do something does not follow the principles of prayer.

We should first use our spirit to contact God and allow Him to anoint His burden into us and give us His feeling. Then we can inquire according to this feeling for every item of our work–in this case,  our visiting of people.

Needing time to pray for the work

From this illustration, it is clear that we need to spend more time to pray. The effectiveness of our work really depends on how much time we’re willing to spend before God. We should not be anxious or overwhelmed, but realize that this lesson requires our whole life to learn.

As those who love the Lord Jesus and want to give Him the first place in our Christian life and work, we can’t afford to neglect these crucial lessons in prayer. May we honor the Lord by first learning the prayer of fellowship and then going on to the prayer for inquiring.

Needing companions for the work of prayer

As a final note–praying for the Lord’s work is not just the work of some individuals.

We really need spiritual companions for this kind of detailed prayer– the two or three praying in harmony  in Matthew 18:18-20.

Otherwise, our “praying hands” will become weary those of Moses in  Exodus 17:9-13.  We need companions “Aaron and Hur” to preserve us in this kind of  prayer for God’s work for the long run.

Lord, recover the finer work of prayer among Your people. Teach us how to have fellowship with You in prayer so that we may enter deeply into Your heart. Then lead us further to inquire of You so that we may take You as the Source and Initiator of all our Christian living and work. Grant us proper companions that will share in this work of prayer to carry out Your will in this age.

If you’ve had some experience in learning to pray the prayer of fellowship and the prayer for inquiring, please share your confirming experiences so that we can mutually learn and be encouraged.

These points were mainly drawn from Fellowshipping with the Lord for the Mingling of God with Man, by Witness Lee, pp. 11-15.

3 Powerful Prayers Jesus Prayed To God (And You Can Too)

Prayer For Understanding To Pray Into God’s Will

Prayer is a powerful tool, but sometimes we don’t even know where to start. So why not learn from the best source there is — God’s own Son? Here are 3 prayers that Jesus prayed to God in some of His most painful days on earth.

Credit: ThinkStock

The alarm clock sounds and my daily routine begins. A cup of coffee and my Bible reading plan – check. I open social media and begin scrolling through my newsfeed –check. But the prayer request I see on my computer screen causes me to stop. It reveals a heartbreaking reality.

A burden to pray begins growing somewhere deep inside. Yet as much as I long to cry out, I don't know where to begin. Words don't seem to have the power to convey the deep empathy I feel. Because I've been there. We all have – in painful times that leave us dumbfounded.

It's in these distressing moments we often can't find the words to pray. But Jesus shows us the power of prayers that pour out from a place of raw emotion.

Jesus understood our pain. In fact, Jesus prayed His most passionate prayers in the hardest moments. And through these prayers we find the example and encouragement we need for our own trying times. Here are three passionate prayers Jesus prayed to God.

Jesus Prayed A Prayer of Gratitude through Sorrow and Grief

Jesus heard his friend had become sick. He loved this man. The situation for Lazarus looked bleak, but Jesus showed confidence in God's plan by saying, “Lazarus's sickness will not end in death. No, it happened for the glory of God so that the Son of God will receive glory from this” (John 11:4). By the time Jesus arrived to see him, Lazarus had been dead four days.

Jesus revealed the magnitude of His sorrow after he came face to face with Mary. When Jesus saw her crying, He was “deeply moved” (John 11:33). Then He cried too. Jesus grieved over the loss of His friend, but He was also responding to Mary's deep anguish. As any true friend would, Jesus offered His own tears, mourning right along with her.

Jesus followed the crowd to the tomb and asked them to roll away the stone. Then He prayed a passionate prayer of thanksgiving. “Father, thank you for hearing me”(John 11:41).

He didn't pray for Lazarus to wake up. He didn't pray for God to perform a miracle. He thanked His Father for always being available in times of need, for always hearing.

He prayed so others would see Him and believe.

Jesus Prayed A Prayer for God's Will to Prevail

Sometimes I pray and God performs a miracle. Other times I pray, but God allows me to go through a hard situation. At those times I'd to turn and run the other direction, but I have to trust. Because facing life's hard helps me grow into the person He created me to be.

Jesus walked a road more treacherous than any of us can imagine. He asked God if there was any other way, but ultimately He resolved to obey.

“He went on a little farther and bowed with his face to the ground, praying, ‘My Father! If it is possible, let this cup of suffering be taken away from me. Yet I want your will to be done, not mine'” (Matthew 26:39).

In the Garden of Gethsemane, Jesus took three men with Him to keep watch as He prayed. He knew the time drew near to fulfill God's plan, so He cried out this desperate plea. Jesus' words show us His commitment to God's will. He was willing to go through it all, yet He still sought the possibility of an alternate route.

Being God in human form, Jesus felt the pain we feel. Hebrews 4:15 says, “This High Priest of ours understands our weaknesses, for he faced all of the same testings we do, yet he did not sin.” Through sorrow He chose submission. Through anguish He chose obedience, regardless of the outcome.

Jesus Prayed A Prayer for Forgiving Someone Who Hurt You

It may be my biggest challenge of all – forgiveness. After all, the person who wronged me didn't ask for forgiveness, and he certainly didn't deserve it. Yet this third example of passionate prayer by my Savior shows me how to forgive, even in the midst of deep hurt.

“Jesus said, 'Father, forgive them, for they don't know what they are doing'” (Luke 23:34).

Jesus understood the Truth of God's Word which would one day be recorded in Romans 3:23, “for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God” (ESV). Yet He chose to be a living example of the power of forgiveness. He went through torture to show us its potential. He also offered it to each of us without condition.

Jesus' passionate prayers all share one purpose – to glorify our Heavenly Father. “We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ” (2 Thessalonians 1:12 NIV).

He prayed in earnest, but His focus remained constant. He did what was best for you and me. So the next time I see a prayer request pop up in my newsfeed, I'll remember the passionate prayers of Jesus. Even if I stumble through the words, God always hears.

Let's determine today to display unbridled passion in our prayer life as we face adversity. Through every loss, uncertainty, or hurt, we find hope as we call out to Him.
