9 Best Prayers For My Grandchildren

Prayer For the Future Spouse of My Grandchildren

Entrusting your grandchildren to the Lord is best achieved by placing them in the forefront of your prayers. This collection of best prayers for my grandchildren serve as the perfect example to the types of prayers you can recite to ensure their safety and security.

Prayer #1

Lord, I pray for my grandchildren. I ask that You would put Your hand of protection upon them. Keep them safe from accidents or dangers of any kind. Surround them with Your angels. I know that “You alone” can make them to “dwell in safety” (Psalm 4:8).

Help them to understand that You are their protector, and You can keep them safe when they live Your way and seek Your hand of protection. Enable them to see that when they go their own way, without regard for Your way, they walk out from under Your umbrella of protection.

In Jesus’ name I pray.

Prayer #2

Dear Loving Lord, how grieved I am that my precious grandchild whom I love so dearly has chosen to walk away from you and to seemingly forge a future without God in their life.

Lord You know that this dear grandchild has been taught the truth of Scripture from the cradle and has been covered in pray from many quarters – even before being born.

And Lord, You know that as a child they were taught the truth of the Lord Jesus and even made a commitment at an early age to accept You as their Saviour… Father it grieves and saddens me and I plead with You to intervene in their life and bring them back to You..

Father I know that nothing can snatch Your little lambs from Your hands or Your Father’s hands –and I trust You Lord, that You will keep Your hand upon my grandchild so that they return into Your loving arms of forgiveness….

Thank You Lord that even we become careless and unfaithful to You- You never give up on us.. Lord I trust the future of my grandchild into YOUR hands and pray that whatever it takes – You would draw them back into the way of truth, in Jesus name I pray,
Amen

Prayer #3

May my grandchildren, Jesus, grow in wisdom (mental) and stature (physical), and in favor with God (spiritual) and men (social). May they live lives worthy of you, Lord, and may they please you in every way: bearing fruit in every good work, growing in the knowledge of you.

Prayer #4

Thank you, Lord, that you will command your angels concerning my grandchildren and guard them in all their ways.

Prayer #5

I pray, Lord, that you will deliver my grandchildren from wicked and evil people. May you strengthen and protect them from the evil one. May your favor, O Lord God, rest upon my grandchildren; establish the work of their hands for them.

Prayer #6

Thank you, heavenly Father, that you are not willing that any of my grandchildren should be lost. I trust that each one will become a believer in you. I thank you in advance that they will become believers in you. I pray that they will be taught by you and that great will be their peace.

Prayer #7

Loving heavenly Father, Thank You for the gift of my precious children and what a privilege it is to see my grandchildren growing up and learning about You. Thank You Father for each little life and I lift each one up to You Lord, and pray that by Your grace and love You would surround them with Your love, throughout their lives.

Guard and guide them all I pray and uphold and protect them. May each one come to know You Lord as their personal Saviour and may they all come to a deep understanding of all You are and all that You have done for them – Oh Lord I pray most earnestly that each one would accept You into their hearts and lives as their Lord and Saviour.

I pray that as they grow into their teens and become young adults that You would keep their hearts and minds turned to You and trusting in Jesus, for their every need. Protect each one from the philosophies and mindset of the world that are so contrary to the truth of Scripture and may each one grow in grace and become strong in their faith as they develop in wisdom and discernment.

Protect them from the evils of this age, keep them from temptations and help them to live godly lives and to develop as responsible adults who will teach their own children the wonderful truth of Salvation through Christ Jesus our Lord,
Amen

Prayer #8

Dear heavenly Father, thank You for the lives of each of my lovely grandchildren that You have so graciously brought into my life – and which give me such joy and pleasure – for which I praise and thank You.

Lord You have scheduled every day of their lives and I pray that as they grow up into adulthood You would continue to lead and guide – to instruct and to correct. Father I also pray that You would develop in each one a heavenly perspective and a true understanding of the Christian life and spiritual maturity so that they grow in grace and in a right relationship with You.

Bring the right spouse into the life of each of these dear grandchildren of mine I pray. In Your grace I pray that they be granted the husband or wife of Your choice, so that together they may become a threefold cord with You – which is not easily broken..

Thank You Lord so much for every one of my grandchildren…Into YOUR hands I commit each one and may they sense Your calling on their lives, so that they develop into mighty men and women who love You deeply and trust in You implicitly, in Jesus name I pray, Amen.

Prayer #9

May my grandchildren show aptitude for every kind of learning, be well informed and quick to understand. May they have wisdom, very great insight and a breadth of understanding as measureless as the sand on the seashore.

Having the power to let go and let God meet your needs is the most liberating feeling in the world. Check out this great video that will encourage you to put your trust and faith in the Lord.

Finding Joy in Praying for my Grandchildren

Prayer For the Future Spouse of My Grandchildren

What a joy it is to have that precious little grandchild run into your arms and plaster you with hugs and kisses. The six-year-old granddaughter calling to tell you she lost her first tooth, or your seven-year-old grandson excited about making his first goal in his soccer game — moments these tickle your heart in remarkable ways.

In addition to the senior discounts, grandchildren are one of the rewards of growing older. Mary H. Waldrip says it well: “Grandchildren are God’s way of compensating us for growing old.”

I have nine grandchildren, ages ranging from three years to twenty-five years. As a long-distance grandmother for many years, I was not fully aware of my grandchildren’s immediate needs.

I prayed that God would bless them and give them good health and protection.

Growing up in a Midwest rural community many years ago, I didn’t encounter the temptations and pressures my grandchildren face today in this media-driven culture.

Because our society is teetering on the brink of moral and spiritual bankruptcy, I prayed for them to be protected from evil deceptions in the world. But ultimately, I became frustrated and felt something was lacking with my vague and general prayers. I asked God to show me how to become more deliberate in praying for them.

After reading Grandma, I Need Your Prayers by Quin Sherrer & Ruthanne Garlock, and When Mothers Pray by Cheri Fuller, my prayers for my grandchildren changed dramatically. The books were full of practical advice, which encouraged me to use specific scriptures in praying and motivated me to pray regularly and specifically for their emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

Here’s what I put into practice

  • I developed a Photo Prayer Journal in a three-ring binder with a section for each grandchild. Each section had a profile sheet with the grandchild’s picture and information about their school, church, friends, and activities. This is followed with several blank pages on which I record my prayer concerns, hopes, and dreams for the grandchild.
  • God’s Word became a manual for learning how to pray more effectively for my grandchildren. I believe praying scripture unleashes the supernatural power of God in their lives. When I pray according to God’s Word, I am in line with His will. As I started claiming God’s promises and personalizing the scriptures for them, I experienced more confidence and boldness in my prayer life.
  • New channels of communication opened with my older grandchildren when I asked how I could pray for them. For the younger children I consulted with their parents to keep abreast of specific concerns. Then I was able to pray more specifically for them.
  • A primary prayer for all my grandchildren is that they will come to realize how much God loves them — that He is always there for them — and that they will accept Jesus Christ as their personal Savior and spend eternity with Him.

Paul tells us in Romans 8:26 that the Holy Spirit intercedes for us when we don’t know what to pray for. The Holy Spirit knows the needs of my grandchildren so I ask him to intercede according to His will. It is comforting to me that I can put my concerns in God’s hand, leaving them with Him.

It shifts the burden to God, instead of carrying it myself. The love I have for my grandchildren would to control their lives and keep them from pain, disappointment, or discouragement. Humanly, I want to rescue them and pray, “Don’t let anything bad happen to them.” To which the Lord may say, “I need to allow disappointment, pain, and failure so they will learn to trust and obey me so I can pour my blessings on them.” It’s important I pray for God’s will in their lives.

God has created my grandchildren for a unique purpose. I pray they will discover their dreams, be motivated to pursue them, and trust He will provide the resources.

It is important for me to communicate to my grandchildren that I love them and accept them even though I may not accept their behavior. I to call them on the phone, send cards for holidays, note cards or e-cards to offer encouragement, and let them know I love them and pray for them.

Blessings as a result

I want to share part of a letter from my married granddaughter. It is a confirmation that praying for these precious grandchildren is never a wasted effort. She wrote,

“My grandmother’s phone calls, cards, and emails were encouraging and made a significant impact on my life throughout my teenage and college years. Her prayers and encouragement have been rock-solid reminders of God’s truth. Amidst my crazy and incredibly life-shaping year, her prayers helped me surrender the craziness of my life to God.”

My prayers for my grandchildren have strengthened my relationships with them. The Photo Prayer Album has been an excellent tool for me to stay connected to them. Whether they live nearby or far away, praying for them intentionally keeps me in touch. Often my prayers can be more powerful than my presence, when I let them know I am praying for them.

Best of all, praying God’s Word has enabled me to pray with His power, direction, and wisdom. As their grandparent, I can have a major role in stabilizing and influencing their lives by praying for them during these turbulent years. It has given me fulfillment and satisfaction in praying for them.

The seeds of prayer we plant today will yield a harvest of blessing in the future. My prayer is that you have been challenged to pray strategically and deliberately for your grandchildren.

In Isaiah 44:3 God told the Israelites, “I will pour out my Spirit on your offspring and my blessing on your descendents.” God still promises to pour out his Spirit and blessings on our descendents.

Don’t we want that for our grandchildren and future descendents?

Praying for Your Future Husband

Prayer For the Future Spouse of My Grandchildren
If you read the Christy Miller series in high school or college, you no doubt were inspired by Christy’s decision to pray for her future husband as she wrote him letters. Many girls started doing this in their own lives, and now there’s a tool to guide young women in this endeavor: Praying for Your Future Husband.

This prayer guide is for young women who want to be intentional about seeking God’s direction for their future.

We asked the book’s authors, Robin Jones Gunn and Tricia Goyer, to share some encouragement to women who are still praying for their future husbands. Keep reading and be reminded that you are being relentlessly pursued by God.

After all, every earthly story of romance is borrowed from the eternal love story between God and His children.

Maybe it was your Sunday School teacher or through the pages of a book that you first heard about praying for your future husband. Maybe you clung to the message and ran with it. Maybe you’ve prayed so many prayers you’re running words. Or perhaps your words have become as route as saying the alphabet.

On the other hand, perhaps you’re still considering if it’s worth praying for your future husband at all. You’ve done so many things to prepare for him. You’ve poured your heart out in so many ways. Part of you worries about being disappointed. Yet is that what prayer is about — a magic elixir for getting what we want when we want? We know it isn’t.

Robin:

Prayer is an extraordinary mystery.

This sacred privilege of communicating with our heavenly Father is more than a cozy, open invitation to come to Him anytime, anywhere. Even though His ears are open to the cries of His children 24/7, prayer is more than that. Prayer is also an act of obedience. We are exhorted to pray for others and to pray without ceasing.

Neither Tricia nor I pretend to have prayer all figured out. What we do know is that God hears. He sees. He knows us. He cares more than we can ever comprehend. And most important of all, God answers prayer.

Perhaps you’ve noticed that the way God answers prayers often isn’t what we expect. We look back years later and see that what God did was oh so much better than what we first envisioned when we sent our heartfelt requests heavenward. He created us, and He desires the best for us. God always gives His best to those who leave the outcomes with Him.

Another, even more amazing mystery is that, when we pray for someone else, we change. All of us were made to be loved, to give and to receive love. When your heart connects through prayer to the One who is the source of true love, you’ll find that praying for your future husband will wondrously result in your heart being changed. And when your heart is changed, your life is transformed.

What sort of changes will God bring about in your future husband’s life as a result of your praying for him now? We don’t know.

As you pray for him, what sort of changes will God initiate in your heart? We don’t know that either.

But we do know one thing:

God proves to be good to the man who passionately waits, to the woman who diligently seeks. It’s a good thing to quietly hope, quietly hope for help from God.

It’s a good thing when you’re young to stick it out through the hard times. When life is heavy and hard to take, go off by yourself. Enter the silence. Bow in prayer.

Don’t ask questions: Wait for hope to appear (Lamentations 3:25-29, The Message).

Tricia:

I love that last line: “Wait for hope to appear.” Isn’t that what you need most when you’re still praying for your future husband, especially when so many of your friends are married and have children?

Perhaps you’ve prayed and prayed, but God hasn’t answered. Your prayers seem bulbs planted in a winter garden. Each time you check for results, all you see is barrenness, debris and frost. You doubt the warmth of your faith when you first planted the prayers in a season of light and hope.

Patience, dear God Lover. Nothing is wrong with your prayers. Leave all of them safely hidden with the Lord. Hold fast to the hope that He has heard and is at work in the garden of your heart.

One bright spring morning you will be stunned when you see what God’s resurrection power has done with those requests you buried so long ago.

What is it that the Lord is asking you to work on in your life during this season? Please don’t compromise your standards. Don’t start making excuses to justify why you’re settling for actions or relationships that you know in your heart aren’t what you want your life to be about.

How can you change that destructive behavior today? What are the new choices you need to start making?

Most importantly, be at peace. See this time as an opportunity for God to develop His patience in you. And don’t forget: Love is patient.

Will you get married one day? Statistics say that you will. We all know that staying married is a whole lot more important than just getting married. How you spend this stretch of waiting and allowing God to develop His patience in you will only benefit you during the difficult times that all married couples go through.

And just as there are two people in every marriage, there are two people who are learning patience as they wait for each other. If you’re having a hard time, your future husband most ly will, too. Your prayers will make a difference.

How do I pray for God to develop patience in my future husband?

  • Pray he will turn to God and that God’s peace will help him to be inwardly calm and willing to wait.
  • Pray he will have a quiet and steady faithfulness to God.
  • Pray he will be content in every state he finds himself in.
  • Pray his eyes will be focused on things to come, rather than things he wished he had now.
  • Pray he will not push for answers before the time is right.
  • Pray he will trust God’s sense of timing.
  • Pray he will be reminded of all the times God has been patient with him.
  • Pray he waits with hope and expectancy.

Of course, as you pray these things for your future husband, be sure to pray the same for yourself. Patience is holding a closed bud of promise in your hand. Imagine that closed, white rose in your mind. Consider allowing each petal to unfold slowly, in its own way.

Can you see the beauty of each stage? Can you see God’s hand wrapped around yours, watching the unfolding with you?

The Love Story

Will your love story come true? For many of you it will. Concerning your future husband it could be in the near(er) future, or some, it could be years in the distance. It could be a quick romance. It could be a slow falling in love. It could be exactly you pictured it or nothing you ever dreamed.

But when the day comes that your story is celebrated by your closest friends and family, you’ll know that every prayer was worth it. And you might even wish you’d prayed more, because prayers are the first gifts you give to your future husband. Gifts that heaven participates in giving.

While we can’t guarantee every one of you will have that type of love story, there is another type we do believe will take place. Everyone, everywhere can have a beautiful love story with her God. It begins the moment you look into His eyes, realize how much you are loved, and give your love and commitment in return.

While we cannot guarantee your prayers will lead you down the aisle to a waiting mate, we do know that every prayer whispered is precious to God. None of them are wasted. While we hope your prayers for the man of your dreams come true, we know that your prayers bring you closer to the God of your eternity. And seeing the love in His gaze is the most beautiful love story of all.

If you are to be committed to anything, be committed to preparing your heart for God’s — in this way — and in every other aspect of your life. The love you’ll experience will be life-changing, and the celebration in eternity is one to look forward to with all your heart.

6 Prayers For Finding A Godly Spouse

Prayer For the Future Spouse of My Grandchildren

Being single can be hard, especially around Christmas and Valentine’s Day.  It can be lonely watching other men and women embracing one another, holding hands and flirting.

It is a natural feeling to want those kinds of things, and when we are single it can get lonely.  You can go to many different people and get many suggestions on how to find a spouse, but the only opinion that matters is God’s.

This is why it is crucial that we take marriage to God in prayer before and during our time searching for a mate.

Here are 6 prayers that you can pray when you are single and searching for that special someone!

It is crucial that we take marriage to God in prayer before and during our time searching for a mate.

I Am Lonely (For The Men)

Father,

I am lonely. I feel everyone I know has found a wife and I desperately long to have one of my own.  Lord, You declared in Genesis that it is not good for man to be alone (Genesis 2:18).  That is why you made a helper for Adam.

Father, I long for the affection of a spouse.  I long for intimacy, Lord.  I long for an intimacy that will allow me to love my wife Christ loves His church, that I may give of myself to her so she will have her needs met.

Father, I long for that sexual, physical, emotional, and intellectual connection that can be had with a woman.  I pray that You lead me to a woman that will love me for me, Father.  Lead me to a woman who fears You, Lord.

Lead me to a woman who absolutely is in love with You, Father!  I thank You for Jesus, Lord!  I love You, Father!  Amen

I Am Lonely (For The Women)

O Lord,

Where are the men of courage?  Where are the men who aren’t afraid to say “no” to others so they can say “yes” to me?  Father, I so desperately want to have a husband.  Lord, I trust in You and I know that You have my interests in mind.

Lord, my delight is in You; please grant this desire that is in my heart! (Psalm 37:4)  Father, I am lonely and I yearn for the man who will cherish me.  Father, lead me with strong hands to the man who will walk with me through the good and the bad.

Father, prepare his heart and my own so that when we find each other we will know that this is only from You!  I love You, Lord!  Amen

Patience/Perseverance

Heavenly Father,

You understand my desires of the flesh.  Being single is tough, Father, and I pray that you will help me as I battle sexual temptation.  Lord, I want to save myself for my wife/husband.

I don’t want to give away such a personal part of me to some woman/man that I won’t spend my life with.  Father, You want me to stay pure until the wedding day, so please give me strength when I am weak.  Give me a way out when sexual feelings bombard me.

Lord, I need You to walk with me!  Thank You for life, Father!  May my life reflect Your love to others this day.  Amen

Don’t Settle

Dear Lord,

I long for the companionship of a mate, and it is getting so difficult.  I don’t want to settle for someone who You don’t want me with.

I want a physical connection so bad!  I want to hold hands, kiss and cuddle!  I want hour long conversations at night!  But, I don’t want to settle just to have these things.  Father, please hear my prayer to You!  Guide me to a person who is right for me.

Guide me to someone who loves You above all things.  Lord, give me strength for today as I continue searching for a spouse.  I love You!  Amen

Be An Example

Holy God,

Being single is a gift.  There is nothing wrong with being single, but I still long for a partner in this life.  Father, while I am waiting, give me strength to endure each day.  Lord, I am Your child.

I pray that my life can reflect Christ to those around me always.

Father, I will praise You in this time of singleness and I pray that You will be glorified in all I do this day!  May everyone I meet see You in me today!  And if possible, may my future spouse see me as well!  I love You!  Amen

Keep Dreaming

Blessed Lord,

I am ready to find a mate.  Lord, until the day comes where we meet, I will keep hoping and dreaming.

I can imagine what our first kiss will feel !  I can imagine how wonderful holding hands will be!  I can imagine how emotionally connected we will be through long conversations!  I can imagine how attractive they will be and outshine all of the rest around me!  Father, I absolutely love You and I want to show that love to a mate!  Guide me to someone who will be good for me.  I love You!  Amen

Conclusion

I hope you have found these prayers helpful.  Stay strong in your singleness!  God has a plan for your life.  Give all of your dreams, hopes and plans to the Lord and let Him lead You.  He wants the best for you and that may require more waiting, but better to wait for a shining gem than to grab a tarnished jewel.  God bless you all as you continue to live a life worthy of the calling!
