Praying and asking God for courage is the first place you should turn.

Jacob When Meeting Esau – Genesis 32

When Jacob was returning to meet Esau after running away several years earlier, he was more than a little scared. He had tricked Esau and fled for his life. As he returned he heard that Esau was looking for him with 400 men at his side. Jacob prayed to God for courage.

Genesis 32:9-12 “And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee: I am not worthy of the least of all the mercies, and of all the truth, which thou hast shewed unto thy servant; for with my staff I passed over this Jordan; and now I am become two bands. Deliver me, I pray thee, from the hand of my brother, from the hand of Esau: for I fear him, lest he will come and smite me, and the mother with the children. And thou saidst, I will surely do thee good, and make thy seed as the sand of the sea, which cannot be numbered for multitude.”

Hezekiah’s Prayer – 2 Kings 19

A group of kings was preparing to do battle with King Hezekiah and the Israelites. They were kings who had wiped out whole nations. When Hezekiah received the message that Israel was to be invaded, he prayed the following courage prayer.

2 Kings 19:15-19 “And Hezekiah prayed before the LORD, and said, O LORD God of Israel, which dwellest between the cherubims, thou art the God, even thou alone, of all the kingdoms of the earth; thou hast made heaven and earth. LORD, bow down thine ear, and hear: open, LORD, thine eyes, and see: and hear the words of Sennacherib, which hath sent him to reproach the living God.

Of a truth, LORD, the kings of Assyria have destroyed the nations and their lands, And have cast their gods into the fire: for they were no gods, but the work of men’s hands, wood and stone: therefore they have destroyed them. Now therefore, O LORD our God, I beseech thee, save thou us his hand, that all the kingdoms of the earth may know that thou art the LORD God, even thou only.

Gideon – Judges 6

Gideon was chosen by God to lead a small army to defeat the Midianites. Through a series of prayers by Gideon and proofs by God, Gideon gained the courage he needed to lead the men.

Here is one exchange between Gideon and the messenger of God. Gideon said he was not brave enough to do the job, but he trusted in the God who promised to lead Israel.

Judges 6:13-16 “And Gideon said unto him, Oh my Lord, if the LORD be with us, why then is all this befallen us? and where be all his miracles which our fathers told us of, saying, Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt? but now the LORD hath forsaken us, and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.

And the LORD looked upon him, and said, Go in this thy might, and thou shalt save Israel from the hand of the Midianites: have not I sent thee?

And he said unto him, Oh my Lord, wherewith shall I save Israel? behold, my family is poor in Manasseh, and I am the least in my father’s house.

And the LORD said unto him, Surely I will be with thee, and thou shalt smite the Midianites as one man.”

Asa Prayed for Victory – 2 Chronicles 14

After the 12 tribes of Israel were divided into the Northern and Southern Kingdoms (Israel and Judah respectively), there came a king in the south named Asa. He was a descendant of David and Solomon. An Ethiopian ruler by the name of Zerah came to fight against God’s people. Asa asked God for courage and for a victory in the battle.

2 Chronicles 14:11 “And Asa cried unto the LORD his God, and said, LORD, it is nothing with thee to help, whether with many, or with them that have no power: help us, O LORD our God; for we rest on thee, and in thy name we go against this multitude. O LORD, thou art our God; let no man prevail against thee.”

Prayers For Courage From the Psalms

Psalm23 “The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters. He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.”

Psalm 27 “The LORD is my light and my salvation; whom shall I fear? the LORD is the strength of my life; of whom shall I be afraid? When the wicked, even mine enemies and my foes, came upon me to eat up my flesh, they stumbled and fell.

Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident. One thing have I desired of the LORD, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the LORD, and to enquire in his temple.

For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock. And now shall mine head be lifted up above mine enemies round about me: therefore will I offer in his tabernacle sacrifices of joy; I will sing, yea, I will sing praises unto the LORD.

Hear, O LORD, when I cry with my voice: have mercy also upon me, and answer me.When thou saidst, Seek ye my face; my heart said unto thee, Thy face, LORD, will I seek.Hide not thy face far from me; put not thy servant away in anger: thou hast been my help; leave me not, neither forsake me, O God of my salvation.

When my father and my mother forsake me, then the LORD will take me up.Teach me thy way, O LORD, and lead me in a plain path, because of mine enemies.Deliver me not over unto the will of mine enemies: for false witnesses are risen up against me, and such as breathe out cruelty.

I had fainted, unless I had believed to see the goodness of the LORD in the land of the living.

Wait on the LORD: be of good courage, and he shall strengthen thine heart: wait, I say, on the LORD.”

Psalm 31“In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust; let me never be ashamed: deliver me in thy righteousness.Bow down thine ear to me; deliver me speedily: be thou my strong rock, for an house of defence to save me.For thou art my rock and my fortress; therefore for thy name’s sake lead me, and guide me.

Pull me the net that they have laid privily for me: for thou art my strength.Into thine hand I commit my spirit: thou hast redeemed me, O LORD God of truth.I have hated them that regard lying vanities: but I trust in the LORD.

I will be glad and rejoice in thy mercy: for thou hast considered my trouble; thou hast known my soul in adversities; And hast not shut me up into the hand of the enemy: thou hast set my feet in a large room.Have mercy upon me, O LORD, for I am in trouble: mine eye is consumed with grief, yea, my soul and my belly.

For my life is spent with grief, and my years with sighing: my strength faileth because of mine iniquity, and my bones are consumed.I was a reproach among all mine enemies, but especially among my neighbours, and a fear to mine acquaintance: they that did see me without fled from me.I am forgotten as a dead man mind: I am a broken vessel.

For I have heard the slander of many: fear was on every side: while they took counsel together against me, they devised to take away my life. But I trusted in thee, O LORD: I said, Thou art my God.My times are in thy hand: deliver me from the hand of mine enemies, and from them that persecute me.

Make thy face to shine upon thy servant: save me for thy mercies’ sake.Let me not be ashamed, O LORD; for I have called upon thee: let the wicked be ashamed, and let them be silent in the grave.Let the lying lips be put to silence; which speak grievous things proudly and contemptuously against the righteous.

Oh how great is thy goodness, which thou hast laid up for them that fear thee; which thou hast wrought for them that trust in thee before the sons of men!Thou shalt hide them in the secret of thy presence from the pride of man: thou shalt keep them secretly in a pavilion from the strife of tongues.

Blessed be the LORD: for he hath shewed me his marvellous kindness in a strong city. For I said in my haste, I am cut off from before thine eyes: nevertheless thou heardest the voice of my supplications when I cried unto thee.O love the LORD, all ye his saints: for the LORD preserveth the faithful, and plentifully rewardeth the proud doer.

Be of good courage, and he shall strengthen your heart, all ye that hope in the LORD.”

Micah’s Prayer – Micah 7

Part of Micah’s prophecy (which was to warn the nation of Israel of coming judgment) was a prayer to God asking for protection and courage to face the enemy.

Micah 7:7, 8 “Therefore I will look unto the LORD; I will wait for the God of my salvation: my God will hear me. Rejoice not against me, O mine enemy: when I fall, I shall arise; when I sit in darkness, the LORD shall be a light unto me.”

Peter’s Prayer for Boldness – Acts 4

When Peter and the other disciples were on trial in Acts 4 they boldly proclaimed the Gospel. At the end of his sermon, Peter still prayed for courage and boldness to continue to preach God’s Word. When they finished praying the Bible says that the place was shaken and the Holy Ghost came upon them with power and they were able to boldly preach as they had prayed.

Acts 4:29-31 “And now, Lord, behold their threatenings: and grant unto thy servants, that with all boldness they may speak thy word, By stretching forth thine hand to heal; and that signs and wonders may be done by the name of thy holy child Jesus. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness.”

The Serenity Prayer

A well-known prayer called the Serenity Prayer talks about having courage to make wise choices and act upon them.

God grant me the serenity
To accept the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can;
And wisdom to know the difference.

A Prayer to Pray for Your Enemies

Prayer For Salvation For My Enemies

I have a confession. On more than one occasion I’ve been petty. I wish I could say this behavior is relegated solely to my my teenage years, but ashamedly, it has crept into adulthood.

Intentionally and without even thinking, I’ve examined situations from my restricted viewpoint and consequently labeled other women as enemies. Of course, I have never actually said these words out loud, but I thought them.

I’ve formed assumptions about their actions and believed them to be true. Knowing this about myself, I know I need to pray for my enemies.

But more importantly, I need to ask myself, who is my enemy? Who is my true enemy? When I stop to consider this, I know how to better direct my prayers toward the ultimate enemy of my life.

Why We Label Other Women as Our Enemies

If she didn’t call me back I assumed she wasn’t my friend. If she appeared to snub me at an event I reasoned she was two-faced. And if she didn’t invite me to her gathering, I assumed we weren’t friends anymore.

This is not to say it’s all been presumption. Some of these experiences weren’t just fabrications of my mind; they were real. I’ve been on the receiving end of gossip, slander, snobbiness, and shade.

And it would seem that the women who treated me this way belonged in the enemy category. Their actions were unkind, undeserved, and unwanted. They were the proverbial mean girl: the women we all love to hate.

Thus, I should be justified in deeming them enemies. Although rational, what I’ve come to realize is that another woman’s behavior, whether real or imagined, does not make her my enemy. She is actually just a smokescreen for my true adversary.

Who Is Our True Enemy?

He is the one we don’t often talk about; but he exists. We live in a practical-teaching-megachurch-age, where words demonic have almost been omitted from the vocabulary of the average church goer. We look at the evil in our world and attribute it to moral decline, explicit music and inappropriate prime time television.

We do this while forgetting that Scripture reminds us who our enemy is. “Your enemy the devil prowls around a roaring lion looking for someone to devour” 1 Peter 5:8 (NIV). We are not only informed of his existence but we are told definitively how he attacks.

In John 8:44 we read “…He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.”

Many of us find it easier to acknowledge the existence of an omniscient God without embracing the reality of a diabolical enemy. When we do acknowledge the Satan’s presence, it is often tainted by Hollywood’s interpretation: teetering between extremes.

Either he’s the man in a red catsuit with horns perched on the shoulder of an indecisive actor, or he’s a quick witted superhero fighting crime in an Italian suit.

Neither persona is accurate, duping us into believing Lucifer is predictable, likable, and not that bad.

God’s Word however, reminds us that we are in a spiritual battle.

Ephesians 6:12 tells us, “For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

” Satan is described as a deceiver, a hunter and a killer whose sole purpose is to annihilate his prey, us. And he will stop at nothing to accomplish this task.

Which explains why we are so easily bamboozled into thinking another woman is our enemy: that is the devil at work. If given the opportunity, he has the power to impact every area of our lives: that childhood hurt, lingering habits, dangerous temptations, weight loss (or the lack of it), hang-ups, a sweet tooth, jobs, children, marriage and most certainly, female relationships.

Seeing the Enemy Clearly

Because of this reality a prayer for our enemies should actually be a prayer for ourselves that we might see clearly who our real enemy is.

This does not mean we completely dismiss the actions of those around us but we do so with the understanding that their behavior is heavily influenced by our formidable foe.

Consequently, this truth helps us to fight in a way that will make a difference: on our knees.

Dear God,

Help me to accept and acknowledge that Satan is my true enemy and not those around me. When I am wronged unjustly, help me to relinquish my right to hold another person responsible for the wrong they have caused me. Lord, may I remember the truth of your word in Psalms 135:14 that says you will vindicate me.

Even though I am tempted to repay evil for evil, please help me to choose to fight my battles on my knees: believing that my struggle is not with another human being but with the devil and my own flesh. Grow me in Christ- character and help me to become a woman who possess the fruit of the spirit.

May I become a woman who is mature, wise, and has a sound mind.

In Jesus’ Name,

Amen

Praying for Salvation of Your Loved Ones

Prayer For Salvation For My Enemies

Per all of the articles we have discussing the different prayer strategies you can take with the Lord, and some of the conditions that He is looking for in order to answer more of your personal prayers – without question, the number one prayer request that each believer should be putting at the top of their personal prayer list with the Lord has to be that each one of us pray for any of our unsaved loved ones.

Your unsaved loved ones would be all of your immediate family members and all of the close personal friends that you may have in your life.

We can obviously pray for complete total strangers, but what makes praying for all of our immediate family members and close friends so special with the Lord is the direct personal connection that we already have with each one of them.

As a result of this direct personal connection that you already have with each one of them, you will have a much stronger desire to pray for each of them than you would have with a complete total stranger – and that stronger desire and passion that you will be showing in your prayers to God the Father may be the exact thing that will get Him to want to move on each one of them before they die and depart from this life.

One very special area in this realm is that every single Christian mother and father should be praying for all of their unsaved children.

Below I will give you a very dramatic and powerful testimony of a man who was literally spared going down into the pits of hell as a direct result of all of his mother’s continued prayers for him.

We all only have one chance, one window, one opportunity in the big-picture, eternal scheme of things to be used by the Lord to get other people saved in this life before we leave this life to be with Him for all of eternity. And with all of us only having this one short window to be able to do this with the Lord, every single one of us should make it our absolute top priority to pray to God the Father that He move mightily on any of our close loved ones who are not yet saved through the blood of His Son Jesus.

When you really stop and think about the big picture we are all dealing with – the number one thing that we should all be focused on is our eternal salvation in the Lord.

All of the money we will ever make in this life, all of the personal possessions we will be able to buy with that money, all of the successes we may have in the different jobs we may take, and all of the personal friends we will end up making in this life will all be for naught if we do not accept Jesus Christ as our personal Lord and Savior before we die and depart from this life.

Not one ounce of all of the money you will make in this life, and not one ounce of all of your personal possessions will be going with you to the other side when you die and cross over.

No suitcases will need to be packed on your deathbed. The only thing that will be crossing over to the other side when you die will be your soul and your spirit. Everything else will be left behind. Naked you came into this world, and naked you will leave this world.

Once we die and cross over, judgment will then be set on each one of us, and our eternal fates will be forever decided by the Lord – heaven for the saved and hell for the unsaved!

There will be no reincarnation back into this life to get another chance as the New Agers will try and tell you. We only have one chance in the eternal scheme of things to accept Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior – and it can only be made on this side of heaven, not on the other side.

Granted, God has a set plan and purpose for each person’s life. But as we embark on that incredible journey to fulfill whatever God will be calling us to do for Him in this life, we must never, ever forget that the number one thing we must always do for Him is to keep our radars up to either witness to someone who may not yet be saved – and/or pray behind the scenes to God the Father for their eternal salvation if for whatever reason we cannot reach and witness to them direct.

Your direct, personal, intercessory prayers to the Lord for someone who may not yet be saved may be the only thing that will end up getting them saved, and thus preventing them from being thrown into the pits of a real, live, living hell where they will be forever tormented day and night with Satan and all of the rest of his fallen angels.

Now here is a dramatic, bone-chilling testimony from a man who was spared from being thrown into pits of hell for all of eternity as a result of his mother’s continued prayers for him.

This dramatic and powerful testimony will show you how God can actually hear and answer your direct personal prayers to Him for a loved one’s salvation – if only you will be willing to take the time to actually pray for that loved one’s salvation in the first place!

The Testimony of Bishop Curtis Kelley

I had just heard this man’s testimony the other day on one of the Christian TV stations. This man’s name is Bishop Curtis “earthquake” Kelley. He now has his own church in Hollywood, California. He specializes in dealing with the worst cases in his area due to the kind of past he grew up in.

Long story short, he had a very strong, praying mother who was always preaching the Word to him, anointing his head with oil to protect him when he was running wild out in the streets in his early years, and telling him that he would be preaching the gospel when he got older.

Curtis said he was always running from this call as a young man.

When he was 4 years old, he heard a voice tell him that he did not have to wait for his brothers to lead him to the drugs that could get him high.

This voice told him that he could get to these types of drugs much sooner. As a result of listening to this demonic voice over the following years, he became fully hooked on cocaine at the actual age of 10!

When he turned 15, the demonic voice came back to him and told him that he could get a bigger and better high than what he was getting from just using the cocaine by itself. The voice told him he could mix the cocaine with some of the other drugs he was using to get that bigger and more intense high.

Again, not realizing what he was dealing with, he went ahead and mixed the cocaine with the other drugs and he immediately overdosed. He was at a bar when this happened. He was then given some alcohol to top the drug mix he had just taken. He then told some of the people in the bar to take him home.

As he was in this overdosed condition from this lethal mixture, he literally saw demonic spirits coming out from underneath the bar floor. They started to grab and pull on him. When he got into the car, they were then able to literally drag him his body and into an actual pit in hell itself.

He said the demons then started to do horrible and evil things to him down in this pit. But right in the middle of this horrible torment and torture being done to him by these demons, a “hand of light” all of a sudden appeared, grabbed him by his shoulders, and pulled him back up into his body. After he was pulled back into his body, another voice came to him and said:

“Because of your mother’s prayers, you were spared.”

Shortly after that experience, he went to a church. The pastor called him out from the back of the church and he then received his salvation from the Lord. He later became a professional boxer and then became a pastor of the church he now has.

As you are listening to his testimony, the one thing that he kept repeating was that a strong praying mother has the power to turn their sons and daughters back to the Lord with their strong prayers to Him. He said the only reason he is alive today and not burning in the pits of hell is all due to the powerful prayers of his mother on his behalf to the Lord.

His testimony just cuts right through you a knife when he gets to the part of the hands of light coming right down and pulling him back into his body from the pit of hell he was in – and then telling him that he was spared this final horrible fate as a result of his mother’s continued strong prayers for him to the Lord.

His dramatic testimony shows how powerful and how important it is that all parents keep praying for their children, no matter how far off the track they may appear to be, and no matter how hopeless and dire their situation may appear to them in the natural.

He said he was as wild and messed up as you can be, but yet the power of God was able to come upon him and set him completely free, which was all as a direct result of his mother’s continued prayers for him! His testimony shows very graphically and very vividly how the power of intercessory prayer can help set a captive completely and totally free from the clutches of pure evil.

Conclusion

With the above testimony showing you how powerful of a thing it really is that we all pray for the salvation of all of our close loved ones, my personal recommendation is that you take an index card and write down all of the names of your close loved ones who are not yet saved.

Pray for each one of them as the Holy Spirit leads, even if it means staying with them for 10, 20, 30 years or more. Some people will literally get saved on their death beds. I would pray for their eternal salvation to the day they literally die, as you never know when the Lord will move on them based upon your direct, heartfelt, personal prayers to Him.

I do not believe that you can “over-pray” to the Lord, or pray in vain on these types of extreme situations. You will not be bugging, bothering, or pestering God with your continued and repeated prayer requests that He move on them in a mighty way to get them saved before they die.

In fact, I believe God will really be moved and touched by your continued prayer requests, and this constant wrestling and prevailing with Him may be what will get Him to eventually make that big move on your close loved one He did on the above testimony.

The above testimony is a perfect example of God actually moving to save this young man’s eternal life – and this was all as a direct result of his mother’s passionate and intense prayers to Him to save her son in the first place.

I would play it out with each one of your unsaved loved ones until the last pitch has been thrown in the bottom of the ninth inning, which will be when they die and depart from this life. Sometimes games are actually won in the bottom of the 9th inning, with two outs left and one strike left to throw.

Again, if no one else is praying for any of your unsaved loved ones, your direct personal prayers to the Lord for their eternal salvation may be the only thing that will end up getting them saved before they die and depart from this life.

And there will be no greater act of love that you can do for another human being than to be able to be used by the Lord to save that soul from a life of eternal torment and punishment.

Prayers for Protection at Work, Home and from Enemies

Prayer For Salvation For My Enemies

On this page you’ll find a list of prayers and verses for protection at work and home. Prayers to keep you safe and protect you from evil and enemies stand in your way.

Unless we avail ourselves within the protective arms of our God, we leave ourselves vulnerable to the attacks of the evil one. We must be diligent in reading God’s word, and ask Him to watch over and protect us individually, as well as His children. When you pray for yourself, pray for those you love, those you have never met, and even those who have hurt you in some way.

Let it be known that with God, all things are possible. Not some things, ALL things. When we feel afraid in life, ask for His protection and safety. Our Father does not desert His children. These prayers of protection are offered as a way to preempt those attacks and keep oneself and one’s loved ones under the protection of God at all times.

If the need for protection whether in your own life, or in the life of someone you love is present, let us pray for you at the holiest place on earth, the Church of the Holy Sepulcher.

We have faith that sending your prayer request to the place where our Lord Jesus Christ gave his life for us will help your request be granted! It is our honor and privilege to be a part of your prayer warrior, and to ask the Lord to watch over you, protect you, and keep you, always.

The God of my rock; in him will I trust: he is my shield, and the horn of my salvation, my high tower, and my refuge, my savior; thou saved me from violence. I will call on the LORD, who is worthy to be praised: so shall I be saved from mine enemies.
2 Samuel 22:3-4

Prayer for Protection from Illness

Heavenly Father, I adore you and I love you with all my heart and soul. I thank you for having created me, and for watching over me in all that I do, every single day. Pardon me for my sins.

I ask that you watch over me while I rest and recover from illness. Please protect my body, and help me heal from this sickness that weakens me. May your unending grace be with me forever and ever.

I trust in all that You do, and all that You are.

Prayer for Divine Protection

Grant me, O Lord, your protection. Within your protection, strength. And within your strength, understanding. And within your understanding, knowledge.

And within your knowledge, the power of justice. And within the power of justice, the love of all of Creation. Guide and protect my body, my mind, and my best judgment in all things.

For you, O Lord, will never leave my side. In this I trust. Amen.

Prayer for Protection Through Life’s Journey

In the name of God I move forth through life’s journey. May God the Father always be with me, God the Son protect and watch over me, and God the Holy Ghost to stand by my side as I travel through the life you have given me. Amen

Prayer for Protection While Traveling

I ask that God’s Angels guard and keep you. As you travel, may you remain safe and secure, with His presence known to you at all times. May He watch over you as you leave home, wandering and maneuvering in other parts of God’s great earth. You are not alone. For He is always with you. Amen.

Prayer for Protection Over Your Family

Heavenly Father, I pray for your emotional, physical, and spiritual protection over my family and loved ones. I ask You to keep evil far away from them, and to help them to trust You as their refuge and strength in all things, without ceasing.

I pray You will guard their minds from harmful instruction and sinful ways, and to grant them discernment to recognize the truth.

I pray that You will make them strong and if they find themselves amist danger, recognizing that You have overcome and will set right all injustice and wrong.

Please help them to find rest in your shadow, and through your everlasting embrace, as they live in the spiritual shelter You provide for them. Let them know that the only safe place is in beside their Heavenly Father, and that their home on earth is only temporary.

Prayer for Personal Protection

Oh Heavenly Father, I come to You today, bowing my head and opening my heart, asking for protection from all the evil this world holds. Lord, we are assailed moment by moment with images on television, the internet, books and newspapers that leave us vulnerable to sin of every kind, every single day.

Surround us with your divine hedge of unbreakable protection. Encompass us round about with your strength and your glorious might. Let all who take refuge in You be happy and feel safe. Please shelter us, Heavenly Father, that those who love your name may exalt in You.

For it is You who blesses the righteous man and those who give their lives to You.

Prayer Of Salvation

Prayer For Salvation For My Enemies

Prayer of Salvation – Our First Real Conversation With God
The “prayer of salvation” is the most important prayer we'll ever pray. When we're ready to become a Christian, we're ready to have our first real conversation with God, and these are its components:

Prayer of Salvation – It Begins With Faith in God
When we pray the prayer of salvation, we're letting God know we believe His Word is true. By the faith He has given us, we choose to believe in Him.

The Bible tells us that “without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrews 11:6).

So, when we pray, asking God for the gift of salvation, we're exercising our free will to acknowledge that we believe in Him. That demonstration of faith pleases God, because we have freely chosen to know Him.

Prayer of Salvation – Confessing Our Sin
When we pray the prayer of salvation, we're admitting that we've sinned. As the Bible says of everyone, save Christ alone: “For all have sinned, and fall short of the glory of God” (Romans 3:23).

To sin is simply to fall short of the mark, as an arrow that does not quite hit the bull's-eye.

The glory of God that we fall short of is found only in Jesus Christ: “For it is the God who commanded light to shine darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ” (2 Corinthians 4:6).

The prayer of salvation, then, recognizes that Jesus Christ is the only human who ever lived without sin. “For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him” (2 Corinthians 5:21).

Prayer of Salvation – Professing Faith in Christ as Savior and Lord
With Christ as our standard of perfection, we're now acknowledging faith in Him as God, agreeing with the Apostle John that: “In the beginning was the Word (Christ), and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. He was in the beginning with God.

All things were made through Him, and without Him nothing was made that was made” (John 1:1-3).

Because God could only accept a perfect, sinless sacrifice, and because He knew that we could not possibly accomplish that, He sent His Son to die for us and pay the eternal price.

For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life.” (John 3:16).

Prayer of Salvation – Say It & Mean It Now!
Do you agree with everything you have read so far? If you do, don't wait a moment longer to start your new life in Jesus Christ. Remember, this prayer is not a magical formula. You are simply expressing your heart to God.

Pray this with us:

“Father, I know that I have broken your laws and my sins have separated me from you. I am truly sorry, and now I want to turn away from my past sinful life toward you. Please forgive me, and help me avoid sinning again.

I believe that your son, Jesus Christ died for my sins, was resurrected from the dead, is alive, and hears my prayer. I invite Jesus to become the Lord of my life, to rule and reign in my heart from this day forward.

Please send your Holy Spirit to help me obey You, and to do Your will for the rest of my life. In Jesus' name I pray, Amen.”

Prayer of Salvation – I've Prayed It; Now What?
If you've prayed this prayer of salvation with true conviction and heart, you are now a follower of Jesus. This is a fact, whether or not you feel any different.

Religious systems may have led you to believe that you should feel something – a warm glow, a tingle, or some other mystical experience. The fact is, you may, or you may not. If you have prayed the prayer of salvation and meant it, you are now a follower of Jesus.

The Bible tells us that your eternal salvation is secure! “that if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved” (Romans 10:9).

Welcome to the family of God! We encourage you now to find a local church where you can be baptized and grow in the knowledge of God through His Word, the Bible.

WHAT DO YOU THINK? – We have all sinned and deserve God's judgment. God, the Father, sent His only Son to satisfy that judgment for those who believe in Him. Jesus, the creator and eternal Son of God, who lived a sinless life, loves us so much that He died for our sins, taking the punishment that we deserve, was buried, and rose from the dead according to the Bible. If you truly believe and trust this in your heart, receiving Jesus alone as your Savior, declaring, “Jesus is Lord,” you will be saved from judgment and spend eternity with God in heaven. What is your response?

Yes, today I am deciding to follow Jesus

Yes, I am already a follower of Jesus
