Lord, be our guide and our protector on the journey we are about to take. Watch over us. Protect us from accidents. Keep us free from harm to body and soul. Lord, support us with Your grace when we are tired. Help us be patient in any trouble which may come our way.
Keep us always mindful of Your presence and love.
My holy angel guardian, ask the Lord to bless the journey which I undertake, that it may profit the health of my soul and body; that I may reach its end; and that, returning safe and sound, I may find all at home in good health. Do thou guard, guide, and preserve us.
O Almighty and merciful God, who has commissioned your angels to guide and protect us, may they be our companions from our setting out until our return.
Clothe us with their invisible protection; keep from us all danger of collision, of fire, of explosion, of falling; and finally, having preserved us from all evil, and especially from sin, guide us to our heavenly home. Through Jesus Christ, our Lord.
O God, our heavenly Father, whose glory fills the whole creation, and whose presence we find wherever we go: preserve those who travel; surround them with your loving care; protect them from every danger; and bring them in safety to their journey’s end; through Jesus Christ our Lord.
I’m praying for the safe travel of (…), please guide & protect her/him that she/he may reach her/his destination safe. I’m praying also for the pilot of the plane – give him the presence of mind that he may able to do his duty and responsibilities for their safety as they travel. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.
May God in heaven protect you on the way to […] and may His angel accompany you.
You are always there, For your love reaches everywhere. Above the clouds, Beneath the sea, I know your hand will cover me. Through the darkened starry night. Again at dawn when all is bright. Upon the heavens, or over bridges, Deepest valleys, rocky ridges. You beside me, o so close,
Knowing when I need you most.
Through different lands of war or peace, Where suffering stirs or riches twist I choose to walk the path you tread. And carry your wisdom where I’m led. To leave your love in every place I rest my head or dine or wait. You keep me safe, watch over me.
I choose to put my trust in thee.
Please watch over me as I fly out today. May your hand be on the pilot and crew, your strength be in the engineers that prepare the plane and your wisdom over the control teams on the ground.
I choose to trust in you, and give you my fears and anxieties. May I find peace as I travel. Take my heart on a journey of trust and hope as I look out over the beautiful world you have made.
I travel with you.
Calm me and cover me,
I thank you so much for Your everlasting love for me! Guide my friend, John, as he takes us to the convention this weekend. The journey isn’t too long, but traffic will be a mess and trying to find parking may be a problem. Father, guide his mind, hands and feet to deliver us safely to our destination. I place this journey in Your hands. I love You!
Here is just one more example of a prayer for safe travel that you can recite before your trip.

May the angels keep you til morning. May they guide you through the night. May they comfort all your sorrows. May they help you win the fight. May they keep watch on your soul. May they show you better ways. May they guard you while you're sleeping.
May they see you through your days.May they show you new hopes. May they still your every doubt. May they calm your every fear.
May they hear you when you shout.
May the angels keep you til morning. More than this I cannot pray. And if the angels ever fail you.

Most holy angel of God, appointed by God to be my guardian, I give you thanks for all the benefits which you have ever bestowed on me in body and in soul. I praise and glorify you that you condescended to assist me with such patient fidelity, and to defend me against all the assaults of my enemies.
Blessed be the hour in which you were assigned me for my guardian, my defender and my patron. In acknowledgement and return for all your loving ministries to me, I offer you the infinitely precious and noble heart of Jesus, and firmly purpose to obey you henceforward, and most faithfully to serve my God.

Spread your wings over the cradles of the new-born babes, O thou who didst announce the coming of the Infant Jesus.Give to the young a lily petal from the virginal scepter in your hand. Cause the Ave Maria to re-echo in all hearts that they may find grace and joy through Mary.
Finally, recall the sublime words spoken on the day of the Annunciation– “Nothing is impossible with God,” and repeat them in hours of trial–to all I love–that their confidence in Our Lord may be reanimated, when all human help fails.

Prayer for Protection from Harm and Danger
Do you ever fear for your physical safety–or for that of your family? If so, pray today’s prayer for protection from harm and danger! It’s all God’s Word, and He will protect you from every evil thing!
One of the most powerful passages about safety and protection in the Bible is found in Psalm 91
This passage says:
He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. I will say of the Lord, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; my God, in Him I will trust.’
Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the perilous pestilence. He shall cover you with His feathers, and under His wings you shall take refuge; His truth shall be your shield and buckler.
You shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day, nor of the pestilence that walks in darkness, nor of the destruction that lays waste at noonday.A thousand may fall at your side, and ten thousand at your right hand; but it shall not come near you. Only with your eyes shall you look, and see the reward of the wicked.
Because you have made the Lord, who is my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place, no evil shall befall you, nor shall any plague come near your dwelling; for He shall give His angels charge over you, to keep you in all your ways. In their hands they shall bear you up, lest you dash your foot against a stone.
You shall tread upon the lion and the cobra, the young lion and the serpent you shall trample underfoot.
“Because he has set his love upon Me, therefore I will deliver him; I will set him on high, because he has known My name.
He shall call upon Me, and I will answer him; I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him and honor him. With long life I will satisfy him, and show him My salvation” (Psalm 91:1-16 NKJV).
God’s Word says He will protect you if you do two things:
Click the image to share this meme on !
- Dwell in the secret place of the Most High (the keen awareness and stewardship of God’s presence); and
- Say, verbally, that the Lord is your refuge and your fortress; your God, in whom you shall trust.
You can depend on God’s Word. It is true every time! And when He says He will protect you, He will! All you have to do is believe Him and meet the two conditions listed above. When you believe His Word and meet His conditions, you will see His promises manifest in your life.
So are you dwelling in the secret place of the Most High? Are you confessing that the Lord is your refuge, your fortress, and your God? Or, would you to begin doing so right now?
If so, pray this prayer for protection from harm and danger:
“Father God, I come to You in Jesus’ name.
Father God, I love You. I thank You that Your Word says You will protect me from all harm. Your Word says You will protect me from all danger … and all I have to do is dwell in the secret, protected place of Your Presence, living under Your shadow–and confess that You are my Lord, my God, and my refuge.
So Father, I confess today that YOU are my Lord. You are my God. You are my refuge and my fortress. You are my God, in whom I trust. You are my very-present help in trouble. I am never alone, for You will never leave me nor forsake me.
Father God, I sense Your brooding over me today
Thank You that Your Holy Spirit hovering over me and my life. Thank You that You are bringing me into higher order. Thank You that You are keeping me safe, protecting me, and shielding me from danger right now.
Please help me to honor Your Spirit and Your presence as you hover and brood over me. Help me to obey You in all things; to think of You and meditate on You and Your Word at all times.
Father, as I obey You by dwelling in Your presence, I decree and thank You that surely You shall deliver me today from the snare of the fowler. Everything that tries to bring me down shall fail, today and forever. I am flying high on Your wings, and I shall stay there, mounted up on the wind of Your Spirit an eagle soaring through the skies.
Father, I thank You that You shall also deliver me from the perilous pestilence
You are delivering me right now from all sickness, attacks, plagues, infections, injuries, and epidemics. You are delivering me right now by the blood of Jesus and keeping me safe and healthy.
Thank You, Father, for covering me with Your feathers. Thank You for hiding me under Your wings. I decree that I shall always dwell in the warmth and safety of Your Spirit and Your presence.
Father, Your Word is my standard. Your truth is my shield, and every word You speak has power in my life. I boldly confess Your Word over myself, and Your Word in my mouth has just as much power as it does when it comes straight Your mouth.
Abba Father, I decree that I shall not be afraid, for I am made perfect in Your love
I shall not be afraid of the terror by night, nor of the arrow that flies by day. I shall not be afraid of sickness or destruction. A thousand may fall at my side, and ten thousand at my right hand, but it shall not come nigh me.
Father, I thank You that no evil shall befall me, nor shall any plague come near my dwelling. Thank You that Your angels protect me and my family. Thank You for giving Your angels charge over us, to keep us in all our ways.
Thank You that Your angels are bearing me and my family up in their hands right now. We are so safe in your angels’ hands that we won’t even stub our toes. We have deer’s feet in high places, Lord, and we are perfectly immune from all danger by Your Spirit and Jesus’ blood.
Thank You, Father, that my family and I are safe from accidents, destruction, and death
We have life and safety abundantly to overflowing. Nothing bad shall happen to me or my family. No evil shall befall us, for we are hidden in Your presence and under the shadow of Your wings. All things work together for our good, for we love You and are called according to Your purpose.
Father, Your Word says that my family and I may see the wicked receiving their evil reward, but we ourselves shall receive only good rewards. We are hidden in Christ and we walk uprightly with You by Your Spirit and grace. We are the righteousness of God in Christ.
So Papa God, I thank You today that I am healed by the stripes of Jesus
Thank You that no weapon formed against me shall prosper. Thank You that I shall condemn every tongue that rises against me in judgment. Thank You that no curses shall alight on me, for they have no cause–and a curse without a cause cannot alight.
I thank You that I am hidden in Christ, covered with His blood, in complete right standing with You through Jesus. I submit to You, O Father, and I resist the devil. The devil flees from me. I draw near to You, Lord, and You draw near to me. And as I do, I thank You that I shall tread upon the lion and the cobra. I shall trample the young lion and the dragon under my feet.
Your Word says that You will set me on high, because I have known Your name. You are right, Lord. I DO know Your name. You have taught Your name to me personally. Over and over, You have shown me who You are:
- You have shown me and taught me that You are my Abba, my Father, my God.
- You are my Lord, and my times are in Your hand.
- You are my God, my ever-present help in trouble.
- You are the One who loves me best and knows everything about me.
- You are He who makes a way for me when there is no way.
- You are the One who provides water for me in the desert.
- You are He who provides all my needs according to Your riches in glory in Christ Jesus.
- Holy Spirit, You are my Comforter, my Instructor, my Convicter, my Helper, and my Guide.
- Lord Jesus, You are Faithful and True.
- You are my Friend who sticks closer than a brother.
- You are my Witness and Teacher, the Firstborn from among the dead.
- You are my Resurrection Life; the Way, the Truth, and the Life.
You, O God, are pure. You are true. You are worthy. And You are mine.
You are my God. My Father. My King. My Lord. My comfort. My help. My friend, and the only One I can depend on.
So Father, deliver me now from all devices of the enemy
Lead me away from temptation, harm, danger, mal-intent, and loss. Deliver me from these things, I pray, and rout the plans of the enemy. Work everything the enemy has brought against me ever in my life for my good, for I love You and am called according to Your purpose.
Father, thank You for delivering me. Thank You for setting me on high. I am calling upon You, and You will answer me. You have already answered me, for Your Word says, “Before you call, I will answer.”
So thank You for Your answers, Abba. Thank You for Your mighty work on my behalf. Thank You for Your Word, your Spirit, Your salvation, Your whole Self actively at work in my life. Your grace is sufficient for me, for Your strength is made perfect in weakness.
I humble myself under Your mighty hand, and in due time You will exalt me
I cast all my cares upon You, for You care for me. I am calling upon You, and You will answer me. You will be with me in trouble. You will deliver me and honor me … and with LONG life You will satisfy me, and show me Your salvation.
Thank You, Father. I receive the full and complete benefit of Your holy promises, for You are not a man that You should lie. Your words are “yes” and “amen” in Christ, so I humbly give You praise and glory for doing all these things in my life.
In Jesus’ holy and precious name I pray, amen and AMEN!”

The Story of the “Prayer for Protection”
The “Prayer for Protection” is known the world over, and Unity is often asked how it came into existence. James Dillet Freeman explained once in his Unity Magazine column, “Life Is a Wonder”:
Let me tell you how I wrote Unity's “Prayer for Protection.”
When World War II was raging in Europe, we received many letters and phone calls from people caught in the conflict, but for a long time we did not have a prayer for protection that we were all satisfied with. This is how one came.
Silent Unity has always written a special Christmas Prayer Service just for Silent Unity workers. And in 1940 I was asked to prepare this service. We had never before needed a prayer for protection, but in 1940 we needed one, so I wrote one to go with the Christmas service. What I wrote was a little four-line verse:
“The light of Christ directs me; The love of Christ enfolds me; The power of Christ protects me; The presence of Christ upholds me.”
I had hardly finished this Christmas service before Silent Unity came to me again and asked me to write a protection pamphlet that we could send to people, so I did. It was called His Protecting Spirit.
A Prayer for Wartime
They told me they wanted affirmative prayers for protection on the back page. Among these was the verse from the 23rd Psalm: “Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me” (Ps. 23:4 KJV).
One of the young women who worked in Silent Unity was reading my manuscript as I wrote it, and as she finished it, she came up to me and said: “Jim, if I were a woman in England and they were dropping bombs on my roof, or if I were a soldier and someone was pointing a loaded gun at me, I wouldn't want to feel I was walking through the valley of the shadow of death. Can't you do better than that?”
I thought, You want me to do better than the 23rd Psalm? You have to be your mind. But rolling around in the back of my mind was the little verse I had written as a prayer for protection at Christmas.
How the “Prayer for Protection” Was Written
I had written it just for Silent Unity, but now it came rolling up to the front of my mind and demanded that I pay attention to it. It enticed me to see what I could make of it.
First I took the rhymes from it. I felt it would be more universally received if it was not a rhyme. Then I changed Christ to God. It had been Christ because it was a Christmas prayer, but I felt if we were going to send it around the world, God might be more acceptable to more people. So the little prayer became:
“The light of God surrounds me, The love of God enfolds me, The power of God protects me, The presence of God watches over me.”
That is the way we first printed it. Then a line came to me that I felt would make the prayer even more powerful. The line was:
“Wherever I am, God is.”
I added it as the fifth line. The “Prayer for Protection” first appeared as a four-lined prayer in 1941, but when we reprinted it in 1943, it appeared in the form it has had ever since.
“The light of God surrounds me; The love of God enfolds me; The power of God protects me; The presence of God watches over me. Wherever I am, God is!”
God’s Message of Love
The “Prayer for Protection” came through change after change, not at all “I Am There,” when I felt that God spoke those words to me.
But what is the word of God? It is possible that no prayer Unity has ever printed has reached so many people as the “Prayer for Protection,” for not only has Unity printed it over and over, but almost every Unity church uses it to conclude its services. “I Am There,” it was carried to the moon.
On the very first flight to the moon, on Apollo 11, astronaut Col. Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin carried the Unity “Prayer for Protection” with him. He did not know me or Unity.
It has appeared in hundreds of different publications that have no connection with Unity, and millions of people have carried it around on cards that fit into their pocketbooks, pockets, and billfolds. It has been translated into many languages. Sometimes it appears with me as the author. Often no author is given. Sometimes other people are named as the author.
It has been changed and changed again before it reached the form that it now has that best meets people's needs. This prayer is the product of much thought and concentration and of a mind that was willing to stay open to receive divine inspiration.
I think Unity's “Prayer for Protection” is as much God's word as “I Am There” is. Sometimes God speaks to us when we don't even know it is God.
I think God has many ways of speaking to us and not only in words that we hear with our ears. I think God speaks to our hearts and minds, and sometimes God's message has nothing to do with words. God is love and intelligence and life.More than anything we say God is, or even imagine God is, God is the one universal Presence and Power and is seeking to express Truth and beauty and good through all of us and for all of us.
5 Powerful Prayers for Protection and Safety
Our world is filled with events and situations that can cause great fear and anxiety. It’s easy to become overwhelmed and live imprisoned by fear.
We are promised in God’s Word that he is faithful and will protect us (2 Thessalonians 3:3).
God wants us to let go of fear and to live life to the fullest! (John 10:10) When you are overcome by worry, use these prayers for protection to remember who God is and the protection he has promised you.
1. Prayer for Personal Protection
Father, I come to You today, bowing in my heart, asking for protection from the evil one. Lord, we are assailed moment by moment with images on television, the internet, books and newspapers that leave us vulnerable to sin of every kind. Surround us with Your divine hedge of protection.
Encompass us round about with Your strength and Your might. Let all who take refuge in You be glad, let them ever sing for joy. And may You shelter us, that those who love Your name may exult in You. For it is You who blesses the righteous man, O LORD, You surround him favor as with a shield.
Lord, I ask that You protect our minds. Father, the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace. (Romans 8:6) O God, set our minds on You.
Let us not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of our minds that we may prove what Your will is, that which is good and acceptable and perfect.
(Romans 12:2) Help us by the power of Your Spirit to think on whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything is worthy of praise, let our minds dwell on these things. (Philippians 4:8)
Strengthen us in the power of Your might, O God. Dress us in Your armor so that we can stand firm against the schemes of the devil. We know that our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the powers, against the world forces of this darkness, against the spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places.(Ephesians 6:10-12)
You are our keeper, O Lord, the shade on our right hand. Protect us from all evil and keep our soul. Guard our going out and our coming in. From this time and forever. In Jesus' name, Amen. – by Lynn Cooke
2. Prayer for the Protection and Safety of Family
Lord, I pray Your emotional, physical, and spiritual protection over my kids (grandkids). Keep evil far from them, and help them to trust You as their refuge and strength. I pray You will guard their minds from harmful instruction, and grant them discernment to recognize truth.
I pray You will make them strong and courageous in the presence of danger, recognizing that You have overcome and will set right all injustice and wrong one day. Help them to find rest in Your shadow, as they live in the spiritual shelter You provide for them.
Let them know that the only safe place is in Jesus, and that their home on earth is only temporary. – Ryan Duncan, Culture Editor at Crosswalk.com
3. Prayer for Children's Security
Lord, I pray that my kids (grandkids) will develop an eternal perspective and purpose, not an earthly one. Help them to see life–and every challenge–through Your eyes, eager and unafraid to share with others the good news of Jesus wherever they go.
I pray that they will set their minds on things above, not just what’s going on here, and that they will be rooted and grounded in Your love. I pray they will come to understand the extent of Your own love for them–that it surpasses all the head knowledge they will acquire in school.
I pray they will be filled up with You from morning ’til night. – Rebecca Barlow Jordan
4. “St. Patrick's Breastplate” Protective Prayer:
Celtic monks used it to start their day.The hymn was several stanzas long, and the last two stanzas were especially memorable and moving:
Christ be with me, Christ within me, Christ behind me, Christ before me, Christ beside me, Christ to win me, Christ to comfort and restore me. Christ beneath me, Christ above me, Christ in quiet, Christ in danger, Christ in hearts of all that love me,
Christ in mouth of friend and stranger.
I bind unto myself the Name, The strong Name of the Trinity; By invocation of the same. The Three in One, and One in Three, Of Whom all nature hath creation, Eternal Father, Spirit, Word: Praise to the Lord of my salvation,
Salvation is of Christ the Lord.
5. “Priestly Blessings” Prayer from Scripture:
Numbers 6:22-27 is known as the “Priestly Blessing” or sometimes the “Aaronic Benediction.” There are seven requests made in this prayer.
The LORD said to Moses, “Tell Aaron and his sons, 'This is how you are to bless the Israelites. Say to them: “’The LORD bless you and keep you; the LORD make his face shine upon you and be gracious to you; the LORD turn his face toward you and give you peace.”' “So they will put my name on the Israelites, and I will bless them.”
1. The Lord bless you…
The word “bless” means to “provide favor or benefit.” Father, we pray that for our children. You are the Eternal God. Please place Your great kindness and advantage on those we love. May they be approved and favored by You.
The Hebrew word “keep” means to “watch, guard, defend.” This is a prayer for protection. Father, my children are not perfect. They are going to make mistakes. But please watch over them and guard them again mistakes of youth that are unalterable. Please defend them against temptation. Protect them against Satan who desires to devour them.
3. the LORD make his face shine upon you…
This is a request for God’s presence.Father, as a parent I know that I can’t be with my children all the time, but You can. Just they feel the warmth of the sun shining on them, please allow them to experience Your presence. Thank You for being with them wherever they go.
4. and be gracious to you…
Grace is God’s undeserved favor. He gives us what we don’t deserve. Father, thank You for Your gift of grace. I pray that gift to be poured out on my children. Following that great gift of salvation, please show them your kindness and love in all the endeavors of their lives.
5. the Lord turn his face toward you…
Here is a request for God’s fellowship.Father, thank You, that because of their trust in Jesus, the Holy Spirit lives in my children. Please walk with them in a powerful way. Enable them to submit to the Spirit’s control day by day and moment by moment.
6. and give you peace.
The Hebrew word for peace used here is “shalom.” It means “completeness, wholeness, and contentment.” Lord, please calm my children’s fears; soothe their anxious souls. Keep them complete and whole in their thinking, emotions, desires, and actions.
7. So they will put my name on ___________ (the name of your child/children). This is a request of identification. Lord, please place Your holy mark on my children. Set them apart to be used by You.
I love them but You love them more. You love them with an everlasting love. May they represent You well on their earthly journey. And when their journey is completed, welcome them home to live forever with You.

Prayer for the End of the Day
Heavenly Father, I adore You and thank you for all the graces You have given me this day. I offer You my sleep, my dreams, and all the moments of this night.
I pray that you give me rest so that I may wake to Your holy face. I put myself within your sacred care and under the mantle of your Holy Spirit today and always.
Please pour out Your blessings upon me, for You are the answer to all things, and You alone. Amen.
Prayer for the Lord’s Protection Through the Night
Lord, please continue to pour out your gracious protection to my family and I this night.
Defend us from all dangers, and from the fear of all things, that we may enjoy such refreshing sleep as may fit us for the duties of the coming day, and the days that follow.
I ask that you grant me grace to live in such a state that I may never be afraid to die so that, living and dying, I may be Yours.
Prayer for Peace After a Hard Day
Father, today was a very tough day for me. I am stressed out about bills, finances, work, family issues, and the state of the world that surrounds me. I feel I am at the end of my rope, and I don’t know how to hold on. Life is control right now, and I’m at a loss at to how to face another day.
Lord, I need Your stability right now. You are my Rock! Please refresh my Spirit with song, peace, and reassurance. Refresh my mind with Your Word! Refresh my soul within this prayer, Lord! I know You are in control, and that You will make my paths straight, and iron out all of these trials.
What can I learn from these trials? I place these all in Your hands. Amen.
Prayer for Anticipation In the Coming Days
I am ready to fall asleep and arise tomorrow morning renewed, but I can’t help but think about the anticipation and anguish I have over life as a whole. But in the midst of my worry, I find myself thinking what Heaven will be .
I imagine beautiful walkways where the saints talk and sing praises to You! I imagine the room that Jesus has prepared for me, as He waits for me to join Him. I am reminded that I need not worry about tomorrow, or what is to come.
For You alone are my protector, and my everything. Thank You for loving me so much, Father!
Prayer for the Strength of a New Day & A New Dawn
Lord, I am weak right now. There is so much going on in my life physically and emotionally that I feel I am at my breaking point! I need Your strength to make it through these times.
Father, I pray that tonight while I sleep You will refresh my mind and strength for tomorrow morning. I pray that You will watch over me as I dream peacefully, and bring pleasant thoughts into my mind.
I ask these things in Your precious name. Amen.
Prayer of Thankfulness at the End of the Day
Today was a wonderful day! Thank You for allowing me to be Your vessel in spreading Your love to others through my actions today; in public, at work, and even in my own home. I was the salt and the light to many people today.
I know there will always be unbelievers, but there are also lost people on very fertile soil. Lord, I pray that the seeds I planted today were on fertile soil. I ask that you water these seeds and reap a bountiful harvest.
Thank you for this day! Amen.
