5 Prayers and Declarations for Your Husband

My answer to this was always, “Of course!”

I did pray for my husband, but not on a regular basis.

It was usually when he had something going on or asked for prayer.

I was rarely proactive in covering him in prayer.

However the further I got in my walk with God, the more I understood how powerful and important prayer was concerning my husband. After years of trying to change him and trying to be his “Holy Spirit Jr.”, I realized that prayer was the key–not my advice or complaints.

As much as I love praying for my husband, I don’t always remember to do it.

I can get sidetracked with the thousands of other responsibilities life throws at me.

In order to place it in the forefront of my mind, I put it on my calendar. Before you go thinking this is weird and impersonal….he knows I do this and actually appreciates it. I have an alert on my phone that goes off each morning at 7am that says “Pray for Hubby and Kids”.

It has been the best thing I’ve done for my marriage. Seriously, you need to try it

Not only do I put it in my calendar, but I have a few set topics and prayers handy that help guide my prayers.

I don’t want to pray just for the sake of praying, I want to see real change and power made available to him.

When I’m praying, I’m believing!

It’s warfare time and I’m there to defend, protect and claim–not in my power, but in the name of Jesus!

When you first begin saying these things you may think, I’m saying this but none of it’s true.

Don’t let that stop you!

Your words have power. The more you speak them, the more you will see them come to pass.

Tell other people these things about him. It honors him and he will feel supported and loved by you.

Here are a few of the prayers and declarations that I’m praying for my husband

**As a side note: Just because I pray for him in these areas does not mean he is not doing well in them. I pray over the areas he is proficient in as well. Why? Because I want him to continue to do well in them. There is no area that the enemy won’t try to come in. I want to make sure I’m on the offense, not just the defense!

Work Life

My husband works with all his heart as unto the Lord. He glorifies God with his talents. ( Colossians 3:23)

The favor of God rests on my husband. God establishes the work of his hands and provides the business he needs. ( Psalm 90:17)

Father, thank you for my husband’s job. Lord, help him to see it as a gift from You. Father, I pray that you continue to bless him in this area. Give him insight into his field. Continue to show him creative ways to make money and expand his presence in his industry.

Lord, help him to see his job as a blessing, even in the times where it’s rough. Guard his heart and mind from discouragement when things don’t go the way he anticipates. Let him work with all his heart to bring You glory. I pray Your favor would cover him and that he would prosper in his work.

Home Life

My husband leads me with gentleness and walks in understanding with me. ( 1 Peter 3:7)

My husband is an encouraging father. He leads our children in the way of the Lord. ( Ephesians 6:4)

Lord, protect my husbands time at home. Father, help him to govern our house in wisdom and fear of You. Teach him Your ways, that He may be an example to our children. Give him insight into how to raise our family.

In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Relationships

The wise will surround my husband and he will become wiser. ( Proverbs 13:20)

My husband speaks what is edifying to those around him. He builds others up and uses his words to glorify God. ( Ephesians 4:29)

My husband is an example to others in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity. ( 1 Timothy 4:12)

Father thank you for my husband’s godly relationships. Lord continue to surround him with men that reflect Your heart. Help him to be slow to speak and quick to listen with his friends.

 Guard his mouth from speaking anything other than what edifies the hearer and glorifies You. Give him divine connections throughout his day. Let him be a beacon of light to those around him.

Physical Health

My husband will be in good health and prosper, even as his soul prospers. ( 3 John 1:2)

My husband is disciplined in his eating and exercising habits. He maintains control over all cravings. ( 1 Corinthians 9:27)

Lord I thank you for my husband’s health. Father I pray that you would preserve him. Help him to make good food choices each day. Let him crave those things that are good for him.

Send others to encourage him and even a buddy to work out with that will keep him accountable. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Spiritual Growth

My husband grows in the grace and knowledge of Jesus Christ daily. ( 2 Peter 3:18)

The faith my husband has will move mountains and nothing will be impossible for him! ( Matthew 17:20)

God I thank you that my husband is growing in wisdom, stature and favor with You and man. Continue to expand his knowledge of You, Lord. I thank you for the men you have placed in his life to help him along the way. Lord, continue to increase his faith as he reads Your Word. Preserve his time with you, Lord. Speak to him throughout the day and guide his decisions. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

Prayer to Find a New Job

Are you unemployed, under-employed, or in a toxic work situation? If so, pray this prayer to find a new job and watch God move on your behalf!

Many folks in our community have mentioned their need for jobs over the years

And if that’s you, know that God wants you to have a good job. A GOOD job. A job that will be a blessing to you, because:

The blessing of the Lord makes one rich, and He adds no sorrow with it” (Proverbs 10:22).

Papa God is so good that He wants you to have a job:

• that will bless you financially;
• that you will enjoy doing;
• where you will have pleasant co-workers;
• with a nice boss; and
• where you can be a witness for Him.

He also wants you to have a job that will be good for your family. A job that will be safe. A job where you will be honored and respected.

A good job is a blessing from the Lord

And if you need a new job, don’t hesitate to pray for one–and pray specifically!

Yes, you will still have to do the legwork to find your new job. You will have to be diligent to look for the job the Lord has for you. You will have to fill out applications and interview. You will have to work hard at any job you get, go through training, and do everything else that comes with jobs.

But the Lord can and will bless you with a wonderful job if you will pray and believe Him to do so.

Pray this prayer to find a new job:

“Heavenly Father, I come before You in Jesus’ name.

Father God, thank You for hearing my prayer. Thank You that Your Word says “Before you call, I will answer,” and so You have answered me even before I finish this prayer. Thank You for knowing everything that concerns me, and for providing all my needs richly. I know I can depend on You, Father.

Father, I lift up my job situation to You. Lord, I ask right now in Jesus’ name that You would make a way for me to have a new job, a better job. Show me which steps to take.

Lord, if I am to change careers, then please show me what career to pursue. If I am to stay in the same career, give me peace about that. Either way, Lord, I ask right now that You would bring me into a job where the people are good to work with; where they are nice to me and others. Provide a job where I am paid well, where my work schedule would bless and not harm my family.

Father, I ask also that You would give the interviews that You want me to have–with the right interviewers too.  Make it so that, when I walk into the room to apply or interview, the people there would know that I am the one to hire. Be the answer of my tongue, and help me to speak the words during the interview and application process that You want me to speak.

Father, I ask You to provide a good salary, good retirement benefits, good medical and dental insurance, disability insurance, paid time off, paid vacations, and paid sick leave. Provide for the on-the-job training that I need. I ask also for Christian co-workers in the workplace; and for kind, compassionate, generous, and patient supervisors.

Father God, give me wisdom, strength and power. Reveal Yourself as the Glory and Lifter of my head. In the Name of Jesus I declare that the old things are past and the new things have come. Bring me the old place, and into this new place of abundance. Put me in the right job, and deliver me from the wrong jobs.

Thank You, Father. Thank You for hearing and answering my prayer, and that I have received everything I’m asking You for. I give You all the glory.

Beloved, here are 5 Bible promises you can claim for a new job while you’re praying:

• “If any of you lacks wisdom, let him ask of God, who gives to all liberally and without reproach, and it will be given to him” (James 1:5). Pray this when you ask the Lord to show you where to apply for a new job, and for wisdom during your interview.
• “Ask, and it will be given to you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened. Or what man is there among you who, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will he give him a serpent? Pray this and remind God that you are asking, seeking, and knocking–so He has to bring you your request!

• “The king loved Esther more than all the other women, and she obtained grace and favor in his sight more than all the virgins; so he set the royal crown upon her head and made her queen instead of Vashti” (Esther 2:17). Remind the Lord that He is no respecter of persons; what He did for Esther, He will do for you! Ask Him to shine His spotlight of favor on you during the job search process. Ask Him to give you more favor than everyone around you; that the people who are to hire you would know you are the candidate they seek the first time they see you; and that the Lord would help you stand head and shoulders above the rest.
• “Most assuredly, I say to you, he who believes in Me, the works that I do he will do also; and greater works than these he will do, because I go to My Father. And whatever you ask in My name, that I will do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If you ask anything in My name, I will do it” (John 14:12-14). Remind the Lord of this Scripture and ask Him to bring you into a greater job with greater works than you’ve ever had. Ask Him to glorify His own name in His answers to your situation. Tell Him what you desire and ask Him to do it; remind Him that He said He will.

31 Ways I Pray For My Husband

My 3-year-old daughter prays for her husband every single day. She is always talking about her wedding and even gets on one knee to propose to her dad (and to me!). Her little face lights up with the question: Will you marry me?

She’s so absolutely adorable, and it provides for many teaching moments about how marriage and family works. This stage of “I want to marry my dad” and “I want to grow up to be mom so I can marry dad” is a new and bittersweet experience because I was a single mom when Elisha and Elyssa were this age and they didn’t have a father figure.

Whenever I pray for him, I develop a thankful heart toward him and I am more able to see his support, his patience, and his willing heart. Whenever I pray for him, he changes, because I change the way I see him.  As Dr. Wayne Dyer used to say: “When you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.“

So this month, I challenged myself to pray for my husband all month in a specific way. It’s not too late for you to join me in the challenge. If you can squeeze in five more minutes, I encourage you to also journal about the experience. 

Praying for my Husband ~ Day 1

I pray that my husband will grow spiritually, discover and multiply his gifts and talents, and pursue daily rituals that will help him cultivate his divine nature, purpose, and identity.

Praying for my Husband ~ Day 2

I pray that my husband will increase in knowledge, great wisdom, understanding, perspective, and insight. I pray that he keeps a sober mind so he can make wise decisions that bring him happiness and peace.

Praying for my Husband ~ Day 3

I pray that my husband will be quick to recognize paths that don’t serve him and humble and teachable enough to switch to be in alignment with the right course.

Praying for my Husband ~ Day 4

I pray that my husband will develop his leadership skills, so he can be a successful man, husband, and father, and can be a source of protection, guidance, and provision for everyone in his stewardship.

I pray that my husband will have the courage to safeguard his heart and honor his wedding vows. I pray that he is unmovable in his commitment, loyalty, and fidelity to our relationship.

I pray that my husband will stand for what is right, act with integrity, and stay true to his standards. I pray that he will have the strength to speak up, with firmness and clarity, and that his words will inspire others to respect his convictions, his beliefs, and his faith.

I pray that my husband will serve people cheerfully and from his heart. I pray that he is generous, loving, respectful, compassionate, empathetic, and comes to each interaction with pure motives.

I pray that my husband will be diligent, honest, and enthusiastic in his responsibilities. I pray that he is blessed with the skills, knowledge, and attributes that will help him prosper and find enjoyment and fulfillment in each task he performs.

I pray that my husband’s mind will be illuminated with discernment to priorities in his life. I pray that he has the bravery to forsake any distractions that may be sabotaging his ability to achieve what he desires.

I pray that my husband will be safe and free from harm and danger. I pray he is watchful in every step he takes.

I pray that my husband finds physical, emotional, mental, social and spiritual strength, as well as perspective in hardships, challenges, and persistent issues he may face. I pray he has an increasing capacity to access his inner power, so he will not be discouraged, not fear, or dismay.

I pray that my husband will actively seek to understand the ways I receive love and to clearly express the ways he wants me to love him. I pray we can foster an atmosphere of genuine intimacy and continue to pursue each other with respect, admiration, and the magic of romance.

I pray that my husband will speak words that build himself and those around him. I pray that he strives to purify his thoughts and that he is able to eloquently and lovingly communicate them.

I pray that my husband will be an example to others who cross his path. That his life would be a reflection of who his Heavenly Father wants him to be, and that he can impact our posterity in a positive way.

I pray that my husband is surrounded by godly men that he can mentor and can mentor him. I pray that he will be a good influence and be influenced only by goodness. I pray that his friendships are strong and carefully chosen, and they can bring growth and joy into his life.

I pray that my husband will choose healthy, holy, and honorable activities that he is passionate about. I pray that he experiences freedom, temperance, and self-mastery in all of his personal habits.

I pray that my husband will be quick to forgive himself for his mistakes and can reconcile with those he has wronged. I pray he can humbly learn from each experience, so he can move forward in a positive direction.

I pray that my husband will discover and follow his God-given purpose. I pray that he can wake up excited to live a life he loves every day.

I pray that my husband will be blessed with mindfulness, balance, and peace. I pray that he can cultivate a calm attitude, and harness his emotions in a healthy and purposeful way.

I pray that my husband feels loved, respected, trusted, honored, and appreciated. I pray that he is able to see each gesture, each word, and each act of service as a gift to him and to be open to receive it fully and with gratitude.

I pray that my husband can be clothed with confidence. I pray that he smiles and laughs each day. I pray that his light can be contagious so others can be uplifted by his joy.

I pray that my husband can have dreams, goals, and aspirations for his future. I pray he can feel deserving of life in abundance and that his steps can be directed toward the prosperity God has in store for him.

I pray that my husband will be a loving, caring, and affectionate father who will guide his kids and teach them with light and truth. I pray that he can discipline them with gentleness, boldness, and in unity with me.

I pray that my husband can manage finances with discernment and wisdom. I pray that he will be a self-reliant steward and a visionary partner with regard to money, and that he will keep an eternal perspective in temporal matters.

I pray that my husband will be focused on unity and will be relentless in his pursuit of oneness with me and our daughters.  I pray for agreement, clarity, and compromise in all our family meetings.

I pray that my husband will be strengthened in his fears, doubts, inadequacies, worries, and insecurities.  I pray that he is empowered and enabled to withstand pressure, and that he is equipped to be mentally stable during struggling, overwhelming or stressful times.

I pray that my husband is diligent in taking care of his body, and in maintaining his own welfare, wellbeing, and holistic health. I pray for healing, endurance, and patience with any disease, or discomfort that he may experience.

I pray that my husband treats every live being with empathy, kindness and respect. I pray that he can see each person as a son or daughter of his Heavenly Father, and embrace and celebrate their uniqueness.

I pray that my husband has faith that everything will work together for his good and to acknowledge God’s Hand in everything that happens in his life.

Praying for my Husband ~ Day 30

I pray that my husband can humbly forgive when he feels wronged. I pray he can let go of bitterness, resentment, and unresolved conflicts that burden him. I pray that he can be held, healed, and restored in his brokenness and unsettled pain.

Praying for my Husband ~ Day 31

I pray for my husband’s weaknesses. I pray that he can become self-aware and continues to pray for strength and to work on himself. I pray that he can use his weaknesses to grow closer to his Heavenly Father and fortify his testimony.

I am grateful that my daughter taught me this lesson in praying for my husband. It’s already been an enlightening experience as I see my will yield, my expectations grounded, and my emotions settled.

Lord, I am coming to you today with a very heavy heart filled with regret over the past and what has happened. In all honesty, I am anxious about the future. I am work, and my finances are in a lot of trouble. I have made many mistakes.

Prayer for a Job Promotion

You have blessed me with so much in my life, and I am grateful. I have a wonderful family that I love and cherish. I thank you for Your love and devotion, but today I must lay a burden of mine at your feet. Father, You know about the promotion that I am looking to receive. Lord, it would be a huge blessing to receive it.

 I am not putting my faith in money, but there are bills to be paid, mouths that need feeding, other expenses on my plate. If You will allow me this promotion, I will use it faithfully as You see fit. I will be responsible with it and pay off existing debts.

Prayer for Struggles With Coworkers

You are abounding in grace and mercy for Your children, myself included. Lord, work is getting very stressful because of the environment I am in. There are many people who hate You there, and they make my life miserable because they know that I love You.

 We just don’t see eye to eye on many issues, but it is hard for me when it comes to how You are viewed in the eyes of others. I trust in James as it says, “Count it all joy, my brothers, when you meet trials of various kinds.” (James 1:2).  I realize the benefit of being persecuted for believing in Jesus, and I gladly accept whatever comes my way, anytime.

  Please soften the hearts of the people I work with. I will keep planting seeds, Lord. Thank you. Amen.
