Prayer for Tobacco and other Addictions
Next, we present to you the following devotional-prayer.
It is specifically written for a
Copenhagen tobacco addiction.
Nevertheless, you can use it to fashion a prayer
that meets your specific need.
Every heartfelt prayer
is a welcome prayer to the Lord.
Friend and Enemy
Oh,what a friend I have in you my dear Copenhagen; you've always been very closeto my heart.
Thrugood times and the bad, you've never abandoned me. I've entirely depended onyou thru the most horrific times of my life. You truly have been my bestfriend. You have always sought me and wrapped your arms around me. You haveplanted seeds of desire for you; how great are thou.
Ihave protected you from wicked people who have talked poorly of you. I have hiddenyou and justified our close nit relationship. How dare someone talk badly aboutmy best friend….you can't be the sin everyone is saying. You must love me….and never would you mean to bring harm to me. You've been a great and powerfulforce in my life.
Mydearest friend Copenhagen,my newest friend, Jesus Christ,
has convicted myheart about you.Hehas shown me the darkness of our relationship. The lies and deceit that youhave taught me has trickled into other parts of my life.
Youhave attacked my integrity, my faith, and my direction toward the Lord.
Youhave warped my mind and now I must rewire my thinking. You have also attackedmy lovely wife with lies and deception.
You'rethe same snake that deceived Eve in the Holy Garden. You are the Prince of theEarth, but no longer the reigning source of my heart, mind, and soul. In thename of Jesus Christ, I release you into the hands of the Father; may his willbe done.
I plead the blood of Jesus Christ of Nazareth over my wife, family, and me. I demand you to leave with your lies and deception immediately! I'm anew being in Christ, and I firmly stand on this from this day forward.

How to Help Someone Stop Smoking Weed
Do you have a friend or family member who is continuously smoking weed? Are you the parent of someone who seems to rely on weed to get himself (or herself) through the day? It is possible to help a person stop smoking weed.
with any drug, the effects of the drug themselves make it very hard for a person to stop once he has developed a dependence on the drug.
It can seem very true to the drug-user that he needs the drug every day just to cope with life, just to feel what he considers “normal.
” Despite these fixed ways of thinking, on the Narconon program, marijuana addicts have recovered the ability to think clearly, enjoy life and achieve goals again.
Symptoms of Marijuana Abuse
Marijuana use creates euphoria, sedation, lethargy and a feeling of empathy that is not real emotions. With high doses or chronic use, a person can suffer memory loss, difficulty paying attention, even panic attacks and hallucinations.
He may feel his senses are sharper but he will lose an accurate sense of speed or distance which can make him a dangerous driver.
The loss of inhibitions combined with poor judgment that commonly occurs when stoned may mean that decisions with dangerous consequences may be made, such as the decision to take on a physical challenge that cannot be safely met, or the decision to have unprotected sex.
Of course, many people know that weed use results in loss of coordination that can seem funny at the time. Marijuana is well known for causing the “munchies”—increased appetite for snack foods, especially sweets. The eyes of a marijuana smoker are normally red after he smokes the drug. What many people do not know is that heavy weed use is increasingly resulting in what has been termed “cannabinoid hyperemesis syndrome” which simply means that use of high potency weed can cause people severe, excruciating abdominal pain and violent vomiting that continues for a long period of time.
In fact, the only temporary relief seems to come from staying in a hot shower or bath for hours. If a person does not know that the cause of this problem is cannabis or weed, he can continue to cause the problem by smoking more weed. Medical treatment or drugs do not ease the pain or vomiting. The solution is to stop using weed.
Doctors are slowly becoming aware of the cause of this problem and are more ly to ask if the person suffering this type of condition is using cannabis.
Problems for Students in Particular
Marijuana abuse is especially popular among young people. Right at the time in their lives when they should be learning and planning careers, marijuana may be sapping their ability to focus, learn, think logically and retain what they have learned. In addition, a person who chronically abuses this drug very often suffers a loss of motivation.
Educational goals may become uninteresting and the lethargy and lack of focus resulting from marijuana abuse make it hard to follow through on assignments anyway. Statistically, more young people receive lower grades when they habitually smoked weed.
One study showed that of those who had been heavy users completed college less often and had lower incomes after leaving college.
So these points cover how to tell if a person you care about is using weed and what the negative effects of this drug can be. You may already have been aware of some of these problems but didn’t know how to help.
If a person feels that using marijuana is making his life better, you will have a hard time convincing him (or her) to stop smoking the drug.
You may have to work with your friend or family member to remind him of the way things were before he began to rely on marijuana to detach him from problems and emotions.
Help him compare the way things are now with earlier times when he might have talked about his plans and future with enthusiasm.
You may have to convince him that the dreams he gave up on can still be attained if he quits cannabis use with your help. These earlier dreams and enthusiasms are the key to helping many people envision a new life without drugs, but that new desire may be fleeting. If you get his interest again, you must move quickly to the creation of a new sobriety so these dreams can be renewed.
You will have to work with this person to get him to stop using the drug. He will have to stay away from drug-using and drug-selling friends because most people easily fall back into drug abuse when hanging out with the people still involved in the drug habit.
The withdrawal symptoms he may encounter include:
- Anger, tension, irritability, restlessness, depression
- Chills, stomach pains, shaking, sweating
- Decreased appetite, sleep difficulties, bad dreams, nausea
These symptoms are not normally severe but he may need help resisting the cravings that probably will last for weeks or months. Clearly set goals and the support of sober family and friends can help him stay on a new, creative path toward goals of his own choosing. Nutritional supplementation can help him recover energy and interest in life and help alleviate the symptoms of withdrawal.
What if He Can’t Seem to Quit?
Each year, more than 400,000 people enter rehabs to get help for addiction to marijuana. And these are only the ones entering publicly funded facilities, which means the real total would be higher.
Since only about one in ten people who need help for addiction get it, it would be easy to estimate that more than four million people are addicted to this drug. A heavy user may be so drowned in the fog of drug abuse that he can’t quit using the drug when he wants to.
In this case, a long-term rehabilitation program that helps a person build a new sober life and the skills to maintain it over the long haul is the answer. This is the service provided by Narconon drug rehabilitation centers around the world. In many rehabs, prescription drugs make up part of the treatment program. Not at a Narconon center. The entire program is drug-free. Nutritional supplements aid a person in regaining energy and bright viewpoint.
A sauna-based detoxification step flushes out the THC (tetrahydrocannabinol, the intoxicating ingredient in weed), helping a person regain the clear thinking they may have left far behind.
The life skills segment of the Narconon program walks a person through the learning of the real-life abilities needed to stay sober and achieve goals.
If you are trying to help a person stop smoking weed, you should find out about the Narconon drug and alcohol rehabilitation today. If he can’t stop using the drug on his own, he needs the help of an effective rehab program before any more of his life or talents are wasted, and definitely before he can progress on to use a more heavily addictive drug.

Nicotine Addiction Spiritual Root
Bottom line, nicotine cigarette smoking addiction spiritual root is the need to be loved! The need to be loved is built within the creation of God to us. Those who have addictions was usually not nurtured properly by someone important in your life – possibly your parents. You may have had parents, but they did not know how to hold you or say “I love you”.
Are you still trying to find someone say “I love you?” The enemy comes in and says that God does not love you, but that is a lie from the pit of hell. Because of the addiction, it is hard to love yourself or accept that the Father truly still loves you.
Are you not loved by those around you? Did you know that lie causes yourself needing a “fix” to fill that void!
Some say the problem is not being breast fed and so smoking that cigarette replaces the need for a breast for comfort. Smoking cigarettes, because of stress, is a false pathway to peace. Spiritually speaking (the way God sees it) cigarette smoking is “burning incense to other (demon) gods”. II Kings 22:17, II Kings 23:5; II Chronicles 28:25, 34:24, 34:25; Jeremiah 1:16, 7:9, 11:12, 19:4; Chapter 44, 48:35.
Spiritual Roots of Addiction
Ask God to fill the void in your life and ask Him to help you understand just how much you are loved by the Father who sent His son to die for you. Today, right now, ask the Lord to fill that void with something, ask God to help you be complete in Him, just as you are in His unconditional, never-fading love and defeat addictions!
Breaking Cigarette Nicotine Addiction Prayer
“Dear Father, in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I have sinned against you in smoking tobacco. I confess my sin in offering incense to demons and in worshipping false gods. I have polluted my body, Your Holy Temple, and placed myself under the curse of destruction.
I have believed Satan’s lies and have taken a false pathway to peace in dealing with stress. I have listened to false spirits of addiction. I have also harmed others who have been forced to smoke in my presence.
I repent for the spirit of addiction, mindset of addiction, defiling the temple of God, false pathway to peace, and opening the door to death and destruction. Forgive me of my sins, Father in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareath.
Your Word tells me through Jesus your Son I can do all things and that means giving up cigarette smoking through faith in His Name and in the power of the blood of His atonement, I am free from Satan’s bondage. Lord, for years I have been in bondage to cigarettes, nicotine and smoking, doing harm to my body – Your Temple – and making it a habitation of demons.I place this bad habit and addiction on your altar – I nail it to the cross. In the Name of the Messiah (Jesus Christ), I command you, spirit of addiction and bad habit, mindset of addiction, need for love, to depart from me and enter me no more.
I will not take up eating as a substitute; therefore I will not gain weight, for I am completely free of this bondage to addiction.
In the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, I break the curse of burning incense to other gods that I may have inherited from my ancestors especially addictions, by the power of His blood, dissolving all ungodly ties and influences that may have come through them and especially in connection with smoking and nicotine addiction. I break the curse of self-destruction and command all demons associated with these things to depart in the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth and by the power of His blood, and forbid them to return.
I cast out any spirits of infirmity, sickness and disease and break the spirit of destruction caused by smoking and ask you to restore my body fully to health, repairing any damaged organs and bringing my immune system into full functioning order.
I rededicate my temple to you, Holy Father, and ask that Your Name, Jesus Christ of Nazareth, will dwell within it, and I invite the (Holy Spirit) to take up occupance wherever demons have previously resided.
I invite the Holy Breath into my nose, and mouth, and throat, and lungs, to purify me completely. I invite the Holy Breath to enter my blood and purify my whole bodily system so that it is completely and utterly dedicated to You, Father God.
I also call on the love of the Lord to meet me completely and fill me with His love into my being and let me know from the heart how much you love me and have forgiven me.
And I ask Your Son, (Jesus), to restore me to a right mind and to purify my emotions, so that I may think and feel as He wishes me to feel – please break all the programming of false pathways of peace, all lies in my system so that from henceforth I am governed only by Truth.I covenant in the Name of (Jesus) and before these witnesses [get two witnesses to your prayer] that I will never purchase tobacco or smoke again, or profane Your holy temple, or blaspheme the Name of the Most High. Amen.

The power of prayer in addiction recovery
“Come to me, all of you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you. Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30
Struggling with a substance abuse addiction takes its toll not only physically and emotionally, but spiritually as well.
That’s why Christian drug and alcohol treatment centers strongly believe in treating the person as a whole; mind, body and spirit.
How does prayer work in recovery? The power of prayer in recovery builds hope and provides the motivation and strength to fight the good fight against addiction.
Finding or restoring a relationship with God during rehab provides a powerful Helper while on the journey to life-long recovery. Strengthening a relationship with God through group and personal Bible studies, and fellowship with others through prayer groups, provides an unexplainable sense of peace and boundless hope. In its essence, faith in recovery needs to be accompanied by actions.
“Jesus stopped and called them. ‘What do you want me to do for you?’ he asked. ‘Lord,’ they answered, ‘we want our sight.’ Jesus had compassion on them and touched their eyes. Immediately they received their sight and followed him.” -Matthew 20:32-34
The healing power of prayer is a proven fact that scientific and medical research equally support. There are documented studies that prayer has healed many serious diseases much to the puzzlement of medical practitioners. The power of prayer is a mighty God-given gift that can heal addiction too.
No one is without weakness; no one. How we react to that weakness, however, makes all the difference in the world. Turning to drugs or alcohol is the easy way out and not the reaction God desires.
God offers unlimited strength to those who turn to Him in prayer; releasing control and allowing Him to take charge of that weakness – that addiction – will extinguish its power and hold on an addict’s life.
There are many more benefits gained through genuine faith and prayer:
- You will never be alone in the battle
- Relief from fear and anxiety
- Balance of mind, body and spirit
- Experiencing pure joy which increases the effectiveness of treatment during rehab
- Inspiration to do the work necessary to achieve a new life free of addiction
- Greater mental focus
- Diminished stress levels
- Strength against addiction triggers
- Reduced rate of relapse
- An increase of dopamine levels in the brain generating the serenity once manufactured by drug use
- Absence of depression
- A 24/7 Helper to guide you to making the right choices while accepting what cannot be changed
How to Pray
“I lift up my eyes to the hills—where does my help come from? My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.” – Psalm 121:1-2
Don’t let your loved one suffer. 1-888-882-1456
Think of prayer as a conversation between you and God. Talk to Him as if you were talking with a friend. Prayer does not have to be a script; filled with ‘thee’ and ‘thou.’ God wants to hear from you – personally.
A good guideline is to:
- Start with some praise, tell Him how you care for Him and trust in Him alone
- Thank Him for the blessings in your life; big and small
- Ask Him for healing from your addiction and share the desires of your heart with Him
- Ask for forgiveness
- Ask for strength and protection against the evil powers of addiction
The 12-Step Recovery and Prayer
“God, grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference” – Reinhold Niebuhr
A.A. and N.A. believe deeply in utilizing the power of prayer for recovery and healing. A countless number of addicts have achieved successful long-term recovery with the strength gained through praying to God.
Each of the twelve steps is complemented by a prayer which can be incorporated into personal prayer time. Reciting the Prayer of Serenity during A.A. meetings is customary and a good prayer to find strength on a daily basis during life-long recovery (what the Serenity Prayer means).
Believe in the Power of Prayer for Recovery
“The thief’s purpose is to steal and kill and destroy. My purpose is to give them a rich and satisfying life.” –John 10:10
Drugs and alcohol are not your friends. They are the enemy – the thief – that is intent on destroying lives and families. God promises unconditional love, protection from your enemies, a Helper to guide you and strength to carry you through. All you have to do is believe.
