Prayer For Christian Students At College

Should You Attend a Christian College or University?

Prayer For Christian Students At College

Should you attend a Christian college or university? This question has probably entered your mind more than once since you started your college search. If you have yet to consider it, then perhaps it’s time you should.

One way to address this question is to think about what you might lose if you decided not to go to a Christian college or university. What if you missed out on the opportunity of a lifetime? Attending a Christian college has many advantages that you may not be aware of, such as a godly perspective on how you can grow socially, spiritually, in service, and scholastically.

Socially

A college’s social atmosphere and sense of community are two of the most important aspects to consider when choosing a school.

You don’t want to go to a school where you feel you don’t fit in or you feel you blend in with everyone around you. Instead, you should go to a school where you feel a sense of belonging.

You can find that at a Christian college or university because they make developing a sense of community and fellowship with those around you priorities.

For example, joining a prayer group or club is a great way to find your niche. Or, if you are interested in music, you can join the choir or worship team. If you are interested in writing and design, many schools offer newspaper and yearbook clubs.

If athletics is more your thing, you can become a member of an intercollegiate or intramural team. You can also participate in community events that will help you build lasting friendships, such as chapel services and dorm events.

Basically, you will find the same social environment as any other college, but with an added commitment to fellowship and faith.

Spiritually

When you attend a Christian college or university, your faith and spiritual life are not only important to you, but also to the people around you. You will live with and learn from people who share your beliefs and values.

You will be encouraged to grow in your relationship with God and in other areas of your life. The school will not be a place where your beliefs and religious preferences are ignored or discouraged.

Instead, you will have the freedom to openly share your ideas and opinions about your faith and other topics.

Another feature that you will find at Christian colleges and universities is chapel. Chapel is essentially a church service that is held on campus and lead by students, faculty, and staff.

It provides you with the opportunity to worship corporately with your dormmates, classmates, professors, and the school’s staff; to reflect on your life; and to continue to learn about God and your relationship with Him.

In service

Most Christian colleges and universities prioritize a service-minded outlook and a heart for helping others—whether on campus, in your community, or globally. One great way to serve on campus is to be a part of residence or dorm life, such as being a resident assistant, a prayer group leader, or a small group leader.

As a resident assistant, you can help plan dorm and floor events, movie nights, service projects, and weekend trips that will bring you and the people you live with closer together. Being a prayer or small group leader will give you the opportunity to develop personal relationships with those around you.

Being a part of residence life helps you create a safe, comfortable, and inviting atmosphere for those who live in your dorm.

If you want to take an active role in improving campus life for your fellow students, then becoming a part of student government might be right for you.

You will be able to voice the concerns of fellow students by acting as a liaison between them and the school’s administration.

You will also gain leadership skills and develop relationships with staff, faculty, and students. You will be a part of positive change.

Something else you may want to consider is finding a job on campus. For example, if you are interested in graphic or website design, ask someone who works in the marketing department if they need any student staff. You can also look into becoming a tutor or teacher’s assistant. Working while you go to school is a great way to earn some extra money while gaining valuable work experience.

Serving the community where your school is located is a valuable outreach tool. Christian schools provide many opportunities, such as participating in community clean-up events or days of service.

You can also volunteer at organizations your local Habitat for Humanity, soup kitchens, rescue missions, schools, mentor programs, or churches.

It is up to you to make the effort to reach out to those who need it the most.

Perhaps social justice/action is more your calling. Some schools have clubs that focus on meeting the needs of those who are suffering from discrimination.

Most Christian colleges and universities also provide many opportunities to go on mission trips overseas and across the United States.

If you don’t feel called to go into the mission field, you can support the school’s mission teams financially or by praying for their safety and work while they are serving.

Scholastically

No matter what school you go to, scholarship is important. At a Christian college or university, you will have the advantage of learning how the major you are studying integrates with your Christian world-view.

Your education will not be based solely on subject matter and practices that are important from a worldly perspective; it will also be connected to your spiritual life. You will have the chance to take an active stance on controversial issues in class and hear what other people think.

You will receive a holistic education in a positive learning environment.

A key part of any successful college learning experience is your professors.

At a Christian college or university, you will learn from friendly, knowledgeable professors who are highly qualified and acknowledged in their field of study, just you would if you attended a secular school.

The difference is your professors will share your passion for learning about and serving the Lord. They will give you knowledge that applies not only to your field of study, but also to your faith.

One academic advantage of attending a Christian college or university is that most offer a small, personal learning environment.

A smaller class size allows for more student-faculty interaction and helps you get to know your professors more personally.

Your professors will teach you to grow mentally and give you the education that will help you to become successful in your chosen career. They will challenge you to think critically about your faith and other areas of study.

If you choose to go to a Christian college or university, you will be a vital part of a community where your Christian beliefs and morals are upheld and valued by those around you. You will have the opportunity to grow holistically and develop into the person God created you to be. Don’t miss out on this opportunity to have a unique, memorable, life-changing experience.

Prayers for Teachers, Students and Schools: FREE Downloads

Prayer For Christian Students At College

How to pray for teachers, students, and schools consistently

I’ve been a student, a teacher, and now a parent of a student, and through it all I’ve learned that everyone involved in the education of school-age children could use our prayers. Whether you are a public school, private school, or homeschool family, a great way to start the school year is to pray for teachers, students, and schools. Our classrooms need our prayers!

If you need a little inspiration for how to pray for teachers, students, and schools, here are three of my favorite ways to do it:

Jericho-style prayer walk around the school

No marching needed, but head out to the school grounds and pray while walking around the school! Go with a list of seven different areas to pray for and and pray for one each time you walk around, or go without a plan and let God lead your prayers. And if you homeschool, you can do this around the perimeter of your home. For inspiration, watch this video of pastor Mark Batterson talk about his prayer walk around Washington D.C., from his video bible study, The Circle Maker.

Pray through the school

My last year of teaching, I had the privilege of walking through the elementary school where I worked along with some parents from the community during the week before school started and pray over each classroom.

We received permission from the administration to do this after work hours and it was amazing. We prayed for each teacher by name and prayed over common areas such as the lunch room, gym, and playground as well. This can be done throughout the home for homeschoolers.

And ask someone to pray for YOU as the teacher in that case, too!

Pray for teachers and students with Scriptures – 5 Bibles verses

There are so many areas where this could be applied, but here are five examples of scriptures for teachers:

The authorities are God’s servants, sent for your good. — Romans 13:4

The student is not above the teacher, nor a servant above his master. — Matthew 10:24

All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness. — 2 Timothy 3:16

Command and teach these things. — 1 Timothy 4:11

In everything set them an example by doing what is good.In your teaching show integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech that cannot be condemned, so that those who oppose you may be ashamed because they have nothing bad to say about us. — Titus 2:7

Pick out specific scriptures when praying for students, teachers, aides, staff, and administration. Keep them on notecards in the car with you to pray while you wait in line to pick up your kids after school.

Pray for Teachers and Students – Sample Prayer # 1

Lord, I pray the students in this school would show proper respect for the authorities you have placed over them and recognize all authority comes from you. Help them to speak and act in a way that is respectful of all teachers, administrators, and other school staff. (Inspired by Romans 13:1-5)

Pray for Teachers and Students – Sample Prayer # 2

Almighty God, You have given my kids all the talents, abilities, and spiritual gifts they need to follow Your plan for their lives. Lord, help them use those gifts to serve You first and others second, so that Your will is accomplished in their lives.

Lord, fill their lives with trusted teachers and advisers who can lead them toward You and Your promises. Help them turn to you as they learn and grow so they can lead fruitful and prosperous lives. Amen.

 — by Erin MacPherson, excerpted with permission from The Christian Mama’s Guide to the Grade School Years

Pray for Teachers and Students – Sample Prayer # 3

Almighty God, because we love our children, because our hearts yearn for their schools, we cannot remain silent. We will not stop praying until their righteousness shines the dawn, and their salvation blazes a burning torch.

May they be called the Holy People and the People Redeemed by the Lord. And may their schools be known as the Desirable Place and the City No Longer Forsaken (Isaiah 62:1, 12). In Jesus’ name, amen.

My First Day at College Short and Long Essays

Prayer For Christian Students At College

Joining college after disciplined and restricted life of school seems a period of permanent happiness and freedom to every student.

After I had got admission to a local college after the matriculation result, I was impatiently waiting for the first day to come when I could be able to attend the college. The life at college seemed a whiff of a cool breeze after spending a tough life at school. The life at college seemed a period of permanent joy and freedom.

On the first day when I entered the college gate, I was very nervous. I found many students in the same condition. The stories of the first year fool rang into my ears. I was stepping hesitantly towards the main building of the college when a boy older than I offered me help.

Since I wanted to take down my timetable, I asked him about the notice board. He told me to go to the left side of the building and then turn right. I thanked him and moved towards the guided direction.

The moment I turned right I knew I had been fooled, the bathroom sign’ fixed over the door made faces at me. I had not come my shock when a group of senior students came to me. One of the boys told that all first-year students are to see the principal in the hall at once.

They showed me the direction of the hall. Amid a crowd of boys with upset faces I reached the hall. I thanked God that this time I was safe.

In the company of the first year boys, I entered the hall and took a chair. The principal was a gray-haired man. But what he said surprised us all. He advised us that we did not need to study. Our stay at college was a period of stress-free life. While he was addressing us, an elderly person entered the hall.

Seeing him the principal ran away, we all were surprised. Then the elderly person came to the lectern and informed the boys that they had been befooled by the senior students. He then introduced himself as vice principal and welcomed the boys to the college.

He then guided us to the notice board and told us how to find the classrooms.

Attending classes was an excellent experience. All day long we kept on moving from one classroom to another. The teachers introduced their subjects to us and recommended the course books.

The rest of the day was full of excitement. The friendly manner of the professors was an excellent experience. When I got college I know I had a memorable day in my life.

I still remember the day when after the announcement of our Matriculation result, I was planning to get admission to a college. Many excited and heated discussions took place on the choice of subjects and college. My first choice was Govt. College. It was the best College of not only our city but also the province and the Country. It was the most historical college. So, my family decided for it. applied for admission to Govt. College.

“I was about to enter a new World.”

After a few days, the list of successful candidates was posted on notice board of College and I was among those candidates who were granted admission. I was allotted Roll number and I was proud of being the student of Govt. College.

College, Thank God!

I will always be thankful to Allah Almighty that I got admission to a grand college Govt. College. It was indeed a completely new world for me.

Memories are a valuable asset of life.

The moment stepped into the College an exciting environment attracted me. there were great hustle and bustle in the college. I found myself among Smart and active boys. They were the Senior students who had arrived early to make first years tools of the new students. Most of us got nervous. They greeted the newcomers with funny remarks.

It was a special way of welcoming the new students to the college. The same had happened to them on their first day at College. The first-day fooling was done in a mannered way. The new students were asked to sing Songs, dance in front of the seniors, share jokes, told some senior students posed to be teachers, sent to washroom instead of classrooms and asked to perform funny things.

All in all it was an enjoyable action-packed day.

One of the most impressive traditions of the College was to arrange a welcome party for the new students. There was grand Welcome party. We had been invited by our Worthy Principal. It was very emotional gathering.

Our Professor of English who is a poet read a beautiful poem. Or Principal also addressed us. He gave very useful guidance for the successful practical life.

In the end, we were served refreshment and had an official photograph with the Worthy Principal and Our Professors.

We attended some classes on the first day. In most of the classes, teacher-student introduction activity took place. We were guided by books and other matters. We realized that the college had very learned, experienced and devoted Professors.

It proved true during my stay in college. Gradually, nervousness and shyness decreased. I will never forget the experience my first meeting with new friends and teachers of the college. It was indeed an opening to a new life of freedom and pleasure.

it was a day of fun and fear.

At the end of the first day, I returned home. When I was returning home, all the memories of my first day at College came to my mind. It was a film. It had fun and fear.

I remembered all the happenings and reached home with a smile. I had entered the college to gain knowledge and wisdom and to become a good citizen. Thanks, Almighty Allah I got what I wished.

I wrote my memories in a special notebook.

In the end, I can say that college life is a beautiful blend of joys and memories. Right from my first day, every day spent in College was full of colorful events. Surely, College life is an ideal part of student life.

My impressions of the first day at college are still fresh in my memory. It seems impossible to erase those Sweet memories.

My First Day at College Essay (550 Words)

Matriculation marks a definite stage of education in Pakistan. Many give up education; do jobs and enter into the practical stream of life. Some join vocational institutions or undergo training for future career. But quite a large number of persons join colleges.

It is, indeed, a great problem to get admission in colleges. Those who pass in good grades, easily get admissions in good government colleges. Children of rich parents generally get admission in good institutions. They have better opportunities in life. Most of the ‘C’ and ‘D’ grade students have to take admission in private colleges that charge very high fees.

Luckily Ingot admission in Saint Joseph College for women. It is one of the best institutions of Karachi. There was a heavy rush for admissions. The colleges reopened on Ist August after the summer vacations. Actually, the classes started from 15th Sept. As it was the first day, most of the girls were in mufti that is wore colourful and attractive clothes.

The corridors were all crowded with students. They were chatting, joking and laughing. The atmosphere was noisy. I felt rather shy in the new setting. Ą familiar face called out, Hello! First-year Fool.” Indeed I felt awkward and behaved a villager in a town, on first visit. She also guided me to my classroom 1st-year section B.

After a fortnight all of us had to put on college uniform. The day Ist sept. started with prayer – recition of the holy Quran. The Christian students offered their prayer separately.

Then all the first year students assembled in a big hall. Separate seats were arranged in the front for the staff members. A senior student posed as a lecturer and sat infront of me. A fat girl came and pulled her hair.

Then only I realized that she was impersonating as a Lecturer.

When the college principal …………… entered the hall, all of us stood up. She welcome us and congratulated us for opening a new chapter in life. Then she told us about the college and its traditions.

The new-comers were exhorted to observe college discipline and follow the traditions. The lecture being over, we were asked to go to our respective classrooms.

As I came the hall, I felt greatly elated to be a college student.

We being first-year fools, felt shy and strangers. The first was urdu period. A young, handsome Lecturer in green gown entered the class and we all stood up. She asked us to sit down. She began lecturing on Ghalib.

After five minutes an elderly lady in gown was seen coming towards our classroom. On seeing the lady, the young girl slipped out from the other door. Afterwards we realized that she befooled us.

She was a fourth year student and a student leader.

After the third period, there was recess for half an hour. Now, we opened winged, mixed up and made new friends. I had a ten rupee note in my pocket.

I went to the canteen with my new friends, Hira and Zeba and shared snacks. I was greatly impressed by the college discipline and our new teachers.

As usual, when the cat is out, the rats are free; we talked and cracked jokes after the lecturers had left the room. I will always remember the Day.

7 Good Prayers for College Students

Prayer For Christian Students At College

As Christians we are continually encouraged and even admonished to pray for one another. As our children grow and go off to college our prayers for them are essential as they begin to face “the real world”.

They need to remain in prayer as well. Here are seven good prayers for college students that you might want to use as you pray.

These can easily be adjusted for use by the student or by others who love them and want to lift up intercessory prayers for college students.

Praise and Worship

Dear Lord, as I continue in this new college life help me never to forget to devote time of praise and worship to You. I know that you are the One who sustains me and the least I can do for everything that You have done for me is to dedicate time to You.

Help me to know that renewing my mind in You is a necessary part of my life. Nudge me bed on Sunday and if there is a good mid-week service please make it so I can go to that too. Send new friends my way that are -minded Christians who will attend services with me and hold me accountable when I am absent.

I love you Lord and I want to praise and worship You. In Jesus name, Amen

I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service. And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God. (Romans 12:1-2)

Instructors and Administrators

College students have new leaders as they begin this venture in life. Remember to pray for those leaders – they are the ones that have the greatest influence on students.

Pray:

Dear Lord, I pray for all of my Instructors, Professors and Administrators.  As we are told in the Bible, as a student (disciple) our teachers are above us and as we grow and learn we strive to be our teacher.

Please give them the wisdom, strength and courage to be the best instructor and administrator that they can be. Help them to stay healthy as they do well to teach us.

Lord, if they do not know you as personal Savior, I pray that they come to know you and in doing so that their instruction and work is glorifying to You. I pray this in Jesus name. Amen.

The disciple is not above his master: but every one that is perfect shall be as his master. (Luke 6:40)

Time Management

One of the most difficult things for college students to learn is time management. Success in college requires goal setting and time management. It is easy to lose track of time when students are making new friends and spending time in social gatherings. Time must be allocated to proper study and rest as well as fun.

Pray:

Heavenly Father I pray that you will give me the guidance that I need to have fun while still maintaining a schedule of proper study and needed rest.

Help me to know that sometimes I need to “bow out” of a particular social event in order to meet the needs of academic success. Protect me as I seek your help in scheduling time for everything.

I love you Father and pray this in Jesus name, Amen.

To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven: (Ecclesiastes 3:1)

Quizzes, Mid-terms and Finals

Help me to shine the light of Jesus to them so that they too can see how happy I am in You.

Dear God, I have learned so much and right now I just ask that you help me to remember all of those things. Please bring them quickly to mind so that I may successfully pass my tests today.

Help also my classmates who are studying for exams, that they might have great success. I know that our success will glorify you Lord because everything that we do should be done as unto You. I pray for peace as I sit for the exams and I know that peace comes only from You.

Thank you for listening to my prayer and I pray this in Your Son’s name, Amen.

And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;  Knowing that of the Lord ye shall receive the reward of the inheritance: for ye serve the Lord Christ. (Colossians 3:23-24)

Home Visits

Dear God, I so enjoy my independence while away at college. As I plan a trip home for a visit please help me to honor my parents as I obey the house rules that they have. I know that the rules are there for my own good.

Help me to show that while I have gained independence during my time away that I understand that it is their house so I must obey their rules.

Lord, I think this might be hard for me but I know that You will guide me and gently remind me of the honor that is due to my parents while I am in their house. Please grant me my desire dear Lord, In Jesus name, Amen.

Honour thy father and mother; which is the first commandment with promise; (Ephesians 6:2)

Relationships

Dear Lord, I come to you because I want to be sure that I am keeping company with this right people. God I know that relationships require careful cultivation and attention. Help me to be friendly to others and to welcome them into my world. Help me to shine the light of Jesus to them so that they too can see how happy I am in You.

Remind me that sometimes I need to ask forgiveness when I have offended others. Help me to be forgiving when others have offended me. God I want to be a great example of Christianity to everyone I meet. I pray that you will help me never to forget that I must take time to work on relationships … just a garden, for them to grow I must be devoted to them.

I pray in Jesus name, Amen.

A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly: and there is friend that sticketh closer than a brother. (Proverbs 18:24)

Purity in Thought, Word and Deed

Dear Precious Father, as I learn to live independently outside of the boundaries that were set for me at home, please help me to make good choices that will keep my thoughts, words and deeds pure. I want to honor You with my choices.

As I choose how I spend my time remind me that You are always with me and that my choices should be things that please You. Help me to stay away from the things that will temp me to do the things that I know are not edifying to You.

Remind me that it is my choice and that I can talk to You any time that I am having troubling making good choices. Keep me in the company of others that have a good walk with You so that I too can have a good walk. I know you will guide me and for this I am so thankful.

I know Your wisdom is pure, help me to desire only Your wisdom. I pray this through Jesus, Amen.

But the wisdom that is from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, and easy to be intreated, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality, and without hypocrisy. (James 3:17)
