Interesting Ways to Celebrate Employees Anniversaries

For Those Celebrating Their Anniversary

Celebrating an employee’s work anniversary or their milestone is one of those events that is the simplest and most easily overlooked. There are ways you can show the individuals on your team how valuable they are.

While there is no need to throw a party or disrupt the entire workday, a few resourceful gestures will go a long way.

By celebrating the anniversary of their hiring, you can inform each employee the significance of their presence in the company and that another year of their time definitely deserves a celebration!

Here are some interesting ways that you and your company can celebrate your employee’s work anniversary.

Give a voucher

A great way to celebrate employees anniversaries and also thanking them for their hard work is by getting them an educational (and enjoyable) voucher. Many businesses have vouchers and deals that will take employees their comfort zone. Examples of unusual activities include skiing, rock climbing, surfing lessons or even a beginner’s lesson in ballroom dancing.

This allows a day off from work and a new, exciting experience that your employee can rave about when they are back from work.

Organise a team celebration

Another way celebrate employees work anniversary is by getting their closest colleague at the company to organise the celebration. Their best mates or closest colleague to organise the event; it does not to have to be something big or expensive. This way, they can come up with more personalised and creative ideas.

Making it a big deal

You can also make a big deal your employees’ work anniversary by making a big deal it. Invest in a gigantic prize wheel, the kind where you can find them at the fun fair. Label each section with unique gifts such as “Half-Day Friday”, “Movie Passes”, “Shopping Voucher” or “Off-day”. Gather everyone around and get your employee to spin the on their special day.

Support local businesses

You could celebrate an employees work anniversary by supporting your local businesses and getting gifts from Etsy. Etsy is a peer-to-peer e-commerce website focused on handmade or vintage items and supplies, as well as unique factory-manufactured items. When an employee’s anniversary is coming up, spend some time finding a lovely, handmade gift for them on Etsy.

Knowing that it is a custom-made gift, feels much more special than a gift card. Plus, you are supporting other small businesses with each purchase.

Anniversary desk explosion

Another great way to celebrate employees’ milestone is by decorating their desk on or closer to the day of their work anniversary. It is a fun way to let them know you remembered their first day at work and celebrating their milestone.

Surround their desk with balloon and streamers or cover their computer monitors with quirky and funny incidents that happened at work. Nothing is better than seeing your employee’s surprised face as they walk in to find their desk nicely decorated.

Give notes of appreciation

You employee’s personal milestones are an excellent excuse to express gratitude and your appreciation towards them. Anniversaries are more meaningful when you receive a stack of Post-It notes from colleagues, who share stories about why they are valuable to the company.

While this may be considered being cheap in some companies, always remember that it is the memories and the thought that count. Who does not reminiscing the best times of their work life or being remembered for the good things that happened at work? Hence the importance to celebrate employees anniversaries.

Arrange a paid day off

The best way to celebrate employees’ milestone is to give the employee time off. Perhaps not for all employees, if your company is not able to afford it. Give employees who have been there for a longer period of time, such as 5 years and more.

By doing so, your employees would know that by staying with the company for the long term have its benefits (besides their long service leave and bonuses). This will also reduce the employee turnover rate.

Employee highlight

Perhaps it is time to put your employee in the limelight. If your company have a blog page online or a monthly newsletter, published your employees’ work anniversary or milestone.

Interview them the week before and post it on the month of the newsletter (including the date they started working with the company) or on the actual day itself, it is possible.

Try to include their achievement and a photo of them as well.

This allows the company to get to know what other departments are doing and gives individual praise too. What a great way to celebrate employees’ milestone!

Give them an anniversary card

Let’s get (a little) personal when you celebrate employees anniversaries. Circulate an anniversary card to colleagues discreetly, get it signed and inscribe a special message to the employee. Let them know that their fellow employees share the excitement and enthusiasm for their tenure.

Give a trophy or a pin

Another great way to celebrate employees work anniversary is to give your special employee a commemorative token of your gratitude for their years of service. To inspire and encourage your employees, create a silly award to give to your employees once a year.

Create goofy awards such as, “Quirky Laughter Award”, “Top Coffee Drinker Award” or even “Miss Congeniality Award”. By creating humorous awards to give them to your employees on their anniversary day, could bring a smile on those stressful days of work. Everyone could use a little more laughter in their lives.

Arrange a work anniversary cake

Celebrating employees’ milestone could be a simple as getting a cake for them. Find out your employee’s favourite kind of cake and order one in advance with special decorations, including name and years of service.

Remember that it is the tiny gestures that matters and who does not want a slice of cake to share on their special day?

Announce their accomplishments

Finally, another simple way to celebrate employees’ milestone is by delivering the announcement during weekly company meeting. Give a short speech about your employees’ accomplishments and the number of years they have dedicated to the company.

If you do not have a weekly company meeting, you could write a thoughtful email that highlights a specific employee’s contributions and strengths in front of the whole team on their anniversary. Not only will your employee feel better about himself or herself, they will also strive to work harder as they feel honoured being recognised for achievements and they were not forgotten.

Create an electronic card

There are some interesting services, Kudoboard there is a replacement for a physical card that’s passed around and signed. This can be used for employee appreciation on birthdays, work anniversaries, farewells, etc. Here’s an example work anniversary Kudoboard from one of their customers.

In Summary

You and your management team may be busy at work, tackling deadline and paperwork for the week or month but is it never a good excuse to ignore your employees’ achievements and anniversaries, regardless if it is for their work anniversary or their birthdays.

When you celebrate employees anniversaries, your employees will fell special and valued for their hard work and time they have dedicated to your company. Remember not let being busy get in the way of making everyone in the company feel special at least once a year.

Ideas for 20th Anniversary Gifts | Pollen Nation

For Those Celebrating Their Anniversary

The 20th anniversary of marriage is a huge milestone. It is, after all, the celebration of two entire decades spent together.

It’s a time for looking back and looking forward. So what should you gift those celebrating such an event be?

From China to platinum gifts, there are a number of options to choose from, some of which are traditional in style, while others are more contemporary. Here we have listed a few of our favorites…

China: a traditional 20th-anniversary gift idea

China represents the elegant, elusive and beautiful aspect of love for one and other over the past 20 years. Asides from investing in an exclusive dinner set (only to be brought out on special occasions), the s of china figurines and picture frames are also a good idea.

Platinum: a contemporary 20th-anniversary gift idea

Just a 20-anniversary old marriage, platinum is both strong and long-lasting. It’s also a great gift option as it’s an extremely versatile present to choose. Platinum is a rare material, it…MORE won’t tarnish and is inherently valuable. From platinum dipped roses to ornaments and jewelry, there are a number of options to choose from.

The 20th Anniversary Colour

If you’re looking for a more unique gift, opt for something silly or sweet in a white or emerald green shade – the 20th-anniversary colors. Try to choose something that traditionally comes in this color, such as a glass vase, a piece of artwork, a Moroccan lantern, a picture frame or a statement piece of furniture.

A 20th-anniversary gemstone

The traditional gemstone gifted to those celebrating their 20th wedding anniversary is the emerald. However, many will also opt for a gold or yellow diamond. If you wish to push the boat out, set your chosen stone in a platinum backdrop.

You may even wish to design your own piece of jewellery, to create a unique statement piece, tailored exactly to those you intend to gift.

There are a number of jewelers who will help you to create such a piece, beginning with the sketches of the design, right through to the creation.

The 20th Anniversary Flower

Looking to gift those celebrating 20 years of marriage together with a bouquet? Opt for a display brimming with daylilies. Just a marriage that has endured this amount of time, they are both strong and rugged. This floral specie also signifies coquetry, in the shape of playful, flirty behavior. When you have been together for many years, this is something you’ll always share together.

How to celebrate your 20th wedding anniversary

If you’re gifting your wife on your 20th wedding anniversary and wish to give her a rose, why not gift her one that stands in a pretty china vase. China will not only outlast the rose, meaning she’ll have something to keep long after the flower has gone, but it’s also symbolic of 20 years together.

Other ideas include dining out in your area’s local Chinatown, again playing on the significance of ‘china’. If you want to plan something a little more epic, book a weekend getaway to one of the more memorable Chinatowns, such as the one in New York, San Francisco or even Asia.

Other options include planning a Chinese-themed anniversary party, complete with Chinese lanterns as decorations, or a romantic picnic complete with real china plates and cups.

A hamper

Instead of dining out on your 20th anniversary, design your own hamper and dine in, or alternatively, at your favourite park under the stars.

Fill the hamper with an array of taste-tantalizing delights and serve them on china plates.

This is a great gift to give your husband or wife and it’s also a great idea for a son or daughter to gift their parents on their special day. Simply fill it with all of their favourite things!

Platinum wedding bands

Jewelry is an item you often wear regularly, especially your wedding ring. With this in mind, it’s ly your wedding bands are a little worse for wear – particularly after 20 years of use.

Take this celebration as an opportunity to treat each other to a new set of wedding rings, made platinum. A nice touch involves choosing matching rings and engraving them with a message or date.

This is usually added to the inner band of the ring.

Throw a secret soiree

Whether you want to surprise your wife or husband or wish to surprise your parent’s on their special day, throwing a secret party is a great idea! Surrounding them with friends and family is a great way to celebrate this momentous occasion. You may wish to host the party at your own house, or alternatively, at a local venue. If you’re wishing to keep it low-key, pick the couple’s favourite restaurant and hire a room in the vicinity.

Re-visit your honeymoon destination

Why not treat your loved one to a trip to your honeymoon destination for your 20th anniversary? Asides from being a welcome getaway, it’s the perfect gift to give if you both wish to conger up some fond memories from the past. Alternatively, plan a more extravagant honeymoon. You may have only spent a weekend away, somewhere local the first time around.

Why not push the boat out the second time around and visit a place you have both always wanted to go. Spend a little more on upgraded flights and accommodation and make it a trip to remember.

From fine dining to awe-inspiring excursions, to exclusive accommodation and high-end transport, there are a number of ways to turn an average trip into something over the top!

We hope we’ve managed to provide you with a little inspiration if you’re on the hunt for a 20th-anniversary gift and wish to find something truly special. If you’ve founds gifts that went down particularly well with their recipients we’d love to hear about them too.

From time to time, The Queen sends unique anniversary messages to mark special occasions.

For 1997 only, The Queen sent messages of congratulations to all those who were married in the same year as Her Majesty, to mark their golden wedding anniversaries, and in 2007 over 18,000 couples celebrating their diamond wedding anniversaries received a specially-worded joint congratulatory message from The Queen and The Duke of Edinburgh.

Occasionally, messages have been sent to well-known or unusual recipients, perhaps the most famous of which was Queen Elizabeth The Queen Mother, who received an official 100th birthday greeting from her daughter in 2000.

The former ballerina Dame Ninette de Valois received a message wishing her 'a very happy day' in June 1998.

In May 2002, an event in Israel was held to celebrate Israel's 600 centenarians, inspired by the custom of The Queen's birthday messages. A message from The Queen was sent to the guests, saying:

'I am delighted to be able to send my very best wishes on the occasion of this morning's celebration to honour the centenarians of Israel.'

3. How soon can I apply for a message from The Queen?

The Anniversaries Office accepts postal applications for wedding and birthday messages no sooner than three weeks before the celebration.  (A two week extension can be allowed for holiday periods i.e Christmas and Easter).  It is possible to apply online up to 5 weeks before.

4. I am applying for an anniversary message and cannot supply a copy of the marriage certificate.  Can I still apply without it?

If you cannot supply a copy of the marriage certificate, you must contact the appropriate General Register Office who can search for the marriage details and confirm them directly with the Anniversaries Office.  Contact details can be found on the application form.

5. I am applying for a birthday message and cannot supply a copy of the birth certificate. Can I still apply without it?

7. Can the message be sent to a different address?

This is a personal message from The Queen and must be sent directly to the celebrant(s) at their home address and not presented. If the celebrant(s) will be away from home, the card may be sent to where they are staying only.

8. How is the message sent and when is it ly to arrive?

Her Majesty’s messages are sent via Royal Mail Special Delivery and are guaranteed to arrive by 1pm on the day of the event. (In the event of the celebration falling on a Sunday,  the message will be delivered on Saturday).

9. Can the message be sent to arrive before the anniversary/birthday?

It is possible to request a message be delivered up to a maximum of 5 days before the event.

10. The celebrant(s) live(s) overseas.  Can I still apply for a message? (Excluding Australia, Canada and New Zealand)

Her Majesty only sends messages to people who are current citizens of Her Realms and UK Overseas Territories.  It would therefore be necessary for you to supply the Anniversaries Office with proof of the celebrant(s) British Nationality (i.e A photocopy of a current or recent British Passport).

11. The celebrant(s) live(s) in Australia, Canada, or New Zealand.  What do I need to do?

12. The celebrants now use a different surname to the one stated on the marriage certificate. Do I need to provide proof?

If the couple’s surname has changed since their marriage, is it essential for you to provide proof of their name change.

This can be in the form of a copy of the Deed Poll or copy of the London Gazette entry (www.london-gazette.co.uk).

If no official documentation can be found to support the name change, a congratulatory message can still be arranged in the name as stated on the marriage certificate.

13. How much does it cost to arrange a message from Her Majesty?

No charge is made by Buckingham Palace to send a message of congratulations from The Queen, however, there may be a fee when applying with the records office.

14. The certificate I have copied is too long for one sheet of A4 paper.  Will it be accepted in two halves?

It is acceptable for the Anniversaries Office to receive the certificate copy in two halves or on A3 paper.  However, please ensure you have copied the left hand side of the certificate stating the marriage/birth place and date along with the celebrant(s) name(s).

15. Is it possible to arrange an anniversary/birthday message to be sent posthumously?

It would not be appropriate for The Queen to send a congratulatory message when a celebrant has passed away.

16. How will I know if my application has been received?

The Anniversaries Office will send a letter or email confirmation when the application has been processed.

For any further queries not listed above, please call the office on 0207 930 4832.

9 inspiring ways to celebrate a company anniversary

For Those Celebrating Their Anniversary

Alright, so your business or organization has a birthday coming up. Before you up and order balloons and champagne, consider the many creative ways an anniversary celebration can be leveraged as a compelling campaign.

From a good old fashioned rebrand and limited edition products to social media sweepstakes and art contests, there are a lot of different ways to go about it.

Don’t panic, here are 9 creative ideas for celebrating your company anniversary that will make everyone want to join in.

1. Starbucks marks 40 years around the sun with a fresh new look

Simplified, monochromatic branding refresh circa 2011 Via Starbucks. The evolution of Starbucks’ branding. Via Starbucks.

What better way to celebrate decades of world domination than a branding refresh? Starbucks’ visual identity has evolved a fair amount since their launch in 1971, but for their 40th anniversary the iconic two-tailed siren got a sharp new look.

The emblem went full green and dropped the “Starbucks” wordmark, simplifying overall and putting more emphasis on negative space. This eco-friendly move cuts down on ink usage and aligns the design to the rather flat aesthetic of the early 2010s.

It goes without saying that updating branding makes a whole lot of sense when a company’s been around for almost half a century, but Starbucks didn’t stop there.

They took the opportunity to hold a ribbon cutting ceremony at Zürich Central, reopening the first Starbucks location in continental Europe after remodelling with entirely regional and upcycled materials.

This was a great chance to position themselves as committed to local culture, rather than as a massive corporate operation.

While Starbucks is definitely in a league of their own, you can always take a big anniversary as an opportunity to have a think about the relevancy of your branding. If a rebrand is in order, that’s a perfect reason to stir up some hype with a party and new swag.

2. Zendesk turns 10 and shows off their creative chops

A winning entry from Zendesk’s 10 year anniversary art contest. Via Zendesk.

Not every company can or should mark an anniversary with a large scale rebrand or grand remodel, sometimes it’s a better call to celebrate the employees that contribute to your company’s culture.

That’s exactly what SaaS-superstar Zendesk did as they celebrated 10 years of revolutionizing the customer support industry, hosting an art contest for their employees with the theme “10 pivotal moments in our company history.

” This was the perfect opportunity to flex their team’s creative muscles and remind everyone that the startup space is still very much a human space, while also focusing on the story of their growth.

They also put together a gorgeous landing page with 10 lessons they’ve learned along the way. This gave them a chance to share more of their company values and experience visually, without the stodginess of corporate communications.

3. Coca-Cola commemorates the 100th anniversary of their iconic bottle

The 20-ounce PET contour bottle was introduced in 1993. Via Coca-Cola.

Ah, Coca-Cola.

More than a household name, the legendary soft drink company compiled an interactive, chronological gallery showing off the evolution of their packaging designs in a push to commemorate the 100th anniversary of their trademarked contour bottle design.

The timeline follows the journey of the Coca-Cola bottle from 1915 to 2015 and also includes one-of-a-kind pieces inspired by their unmistakable branding, from chairs made from recycled bottles to repurposed, custom glassware.

Coca-Cola partnered with Emeco to give the Navy Chair a makeover. Each chair is made from recycled PET bottles. Via Coca-Cola. Glassware by Nendo using recycled Coca-Cola bottles, inspired by the base of the original contour bottle.. Via Coca-Cola.

Anniversaries are a time to celebrate where we come from, but they’re also to celebrate how we’ve changed. This timeline does a fabulous job narrating the prodigious, century-long odyssey that continues today, and emphasizes the strength of a visual identity that, despite consistent and considerable change, has been persistently recognizable over the span of more than 100 years.

4. Acne Studios salutes 1 year in LA with limited edition local flair

Sometimes an anniversary is a slightly more modest affair, Acne Studios’ celebration of 1 year in the wild, wild west (also known as Los Angeles).

To commemorate their Californian branch’s first birthday, they released a special edition sweatshirt featuring their new home: Claud Beelman’s Eastern Colombia Building, an Art Deco staple of LA’s Broadway Theater District.

Coming in a couple of light and breezy colors, the sweatshirt celebrated local architectural flair while promoting their own brand and tempting their loyal customers with limited edition merchandise.

5. Marvel Studios marks 10 explosive years with a star-studded photo op and social media sweepstakes

The Marvel Cinematic Universe hit the silver screen in 2008 with Iron Man.

10 years later, with 14 television series and 24 feature films either released or in production, Marvel Studios certainly has cause to celebrate.

To mark this very prolific decade, Marvel is hosting a 10-Year Sweepstakes this year, encouraging fans to share images and stories on and Instagram under the hashtag #Marvel10YearSweepstakes over the course of 5 weeks.

With a new winner each week (winning an “Ultimate Marvel Fan Prize” package, including a visit to the “Captain Marvel” set and a tour of the studios), the campaign is a wonderful way to rile up their fanbase, keep everything Marvel-centric, and boost global engagement and awareness. To top it all off, they also gathered more than 80 actors and filmmakers in a single photo to memorialize the accomplishments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

What can we learn from this? Playing to your audience’s interests works. Sweepstakes may be old-fashioned, but they can still be relevant. A look behind-the-scenes can intrigue and humanize, and all good campaigns come with a hashtag.

6. Happy Socks rounds off 10 years with a smile (and fresh prints)

Bold, bright, and beautiful limited edition packaging for Happy Socks anniversary collection. Via Highsnobiety.

What comes after 10 years of success? Expansion of course! If you sell a product, hitting 10 years is the perfect opportunity to release a special line, or to expand your product offering. Happy Socks did both, offering special ranges of socks, and expanding into other undergarments.

Besides honoring legendary pop artist Keith Haring with a special collaboration, they’ve upped the ante with gorgeous and very on-trend packaging for the release of their anniversary collection.

Special events are always perfect excuses to show off your creative chops, so channel Happy Socks and bring originality, great design, and business acumen to your anniversary.

7. Moo celebrates their success and dances their way into the future with a dystopian party

Making it 10 years as a business is a pretty good excuse to have a party. And that’s exactly what Moo did.

Moo has been providing print goods with stellar design and superb quality to the masses and we here at 99designs are grateful to have worked with them over the years.

In what could be seen as a cheeky nod to current affairs, the theme of their 10th anniversary party was a quasi-dystopian vision of 2116, with creative costuming, over-the-top decor and lighting, and all around good vibes (check out #10yearsofmoo on for reference).

They also went above and beyond and sent cupcakes to loyal customers who had been there from the get-go, complete with a personalized thank you note on their gorgeous cardstock.

8. UNICEF celebrates 70 years of changing the world with a thought provoking then-and-now photo essay

Major anniversaries aren’t always so light-hearted. UNICEF’s 70th anniversary was a bittersweet nod to all of their humanitarian work, but also of how much still needs to be done to make the world a safe and healthy place for everybody.

70 years is a long time and, while a lot has changed, many people still toil through the same hardships.

UNICEF, in their mission to provide aid, healthcare, and hope to displaced and impoverished children worldwide, highlights these problems with their UNICEF@70 photo essay, a then-and-now study under-lining problems faced by people entire generations apart. The piece is an emotional reminder of hard modern day realities, underscoring the need for all of us to be generous, responsible, and aware.

The juxtaposition of these photos of malnourished children is a powerful message as to the importance of humanitarian aid (left: 1946 in Greece; right: 2009 in Niger). Via Medium.

Anniversaries can be great opportunity to look back and inspire. Non-profit organizations can use anniversary campaigns to mark their massive achievements and mobilize people around their mission. Photo essays this, or informational pieces brochures, posters, or infographics are fantastic ways to educate and motivate the public.

This month marks our very own 10th anniversary at 99designs and we couldn’t be more proud to have fostered so many hundreds of thousands of design connections since our humble beginnings in 2008.

To express our enormous gratitude, every employee was given 100 dollars to go to a charity of their choice, as putting people first is one of our core values as a company.

We believe in the power of connection, so we designed a special landing page dedicated to 10 ways we’ve seen design connect people from all over the world, including but not limited to philanthropic causes, creative collaboration and even leading to people falling in love (how romantic is that?!). And of course we took to our social media accounts to share all those wonderful stories from designers and customers under the hashtag #decadeofdesign.

Celebrating a decade of design connections with a colorful, energetic poster design. Design by krlegend.Brushstrokes and perspective illusions give this softer poster depth and personality. Design by -Z-.Soft gradients and extra terrestrial typography give this poster design a clean relevancy definitely worthy of our 10 year anniversary. Design by goopanic. Because design is our number one passion, we took the opportunity to unveil 3 gorgeous posters (designed on our platform, of course) commemorating the occasion, also printing the designs as postcards to send to old colleagues, customers, designers, and friends.

As an international design marketplace, we strongly believe that design is global. Our celebration had to reflect that, hosting parties in all three of our offices: Oakland, Melbourne, and Berlin. We also indulged in a bit of a #throwback and made a Spotify playlist of our favorite tunes from 2008 to help us boogie the night away.

Cheers to us! Design by damuhra.

10 years means a lot to us, which is why we came at this from all angles. We can only say thank you to the unfathomable amount of people that have made 99designs possible, and cheers to the next 10 years!

While each anniversary is a great accomplishment, certain anniversaries are typically more celebrated. Think your first anniversary, 5 years, 10 years, and so on.

If you feel you want to splurge, it makes sense to do it on one of the more major milestone years.

For the in-between years, you should feel far less pressure when it comes to how much to spend.

Your spouse is ly feeling the same way, so you shouldn’t worry that you will end up with an item that costs a lot less.

Focus your attention on saving up for the big milestones, and in-between feel free to spend less and simply enjoy your time together!

3. Increase your budget over time

While you may splurge a bit for your first anniversary, then consider dialing things back for your second anniversary and then slowly building up your budget over time. It makes sense, doesn’t it?

The more time you spend together, the more you spend on anniversary presents! This is a great rule of thumb to follow and will make things a lot easier on you when you start shopping around for something.

As for how much to increase in budget each year, don’t feel you have to spend a lot more each year. After all, that will add up quickly and you don’t want to feel pressured to spend thousands simply because you’ve been married for a while! Slowly increase your budget and you will be good to go.

4. Discuss and set a budget

If you still find yourself worried about what the right budget is, why not just discuss things with your spouse and set a budget?

This can take the pressure off of both of you, and still allows you to find a gift and surprise your spouse, but without fear of not spending enough or spending too much.

There is nothing wrong with discussing a budget, so feel free to do so if you are someone that wants to have a more concrete number in mind.

5. Always spend within your means

Finally, the most important thing to always keep in mind when spending money on a gift is to only spend what you can afford.

Everyone’s finances are different, so to follow a certain strict rule of a certain dollar amount to spend is not realistic.

What is cheap for someone may be very expensive for someone else- and that is okay! Spend what you can afford, and never feel pressured to do otherwise.
