5 Powerful Prayers for Peace Within
Is your heart troubled? Are you feeling the psalmist, who asked his own soul, “Why are you in despair? And why have you become disturbed within me?” One of the hardest parts of knowing peace is understanding how it has nothing to do with control.

A Prayer for Peace Within
Oh Lord, sometimes my insides feel a battle zone, where missiles are falling too close to home. Other times I'm caught in an endless storm, with thoughts flying control.
Confusion reigns, and defeat creeps in to steal my joy. I need your peace—the deep-down-in-your-heart kind that stays with me day and night and speaks confidently into the wind.
Calm my anxious spirit, Lord; all the attacking “if-onlys” and “what-ifs” fill me with needless worry.
I know that trust is a big part of experiencing peace and that fear has no place in my life. Most of the things I worry about or dread don't even happen. So I'm declaring my trust in you.I'm releasing the reins of my life again and asking you to take control. I may need to pray this same prayer daily, but I'm tired of the frenzy of life that leaves my schedule and my thoughts without any margin.
I need more of you, Lord, and less of me.
I surrender and admit: I can't control people, plans, or even all my circumstances, but I can yield those things to you, and focus on your goodness.
Thank you today for every good gift you've given, every blessing you've sent, all the forgiveness I did not deserve, and, yes, for every trial you've allowed into my life. You bring good every circumstance if I'll only let go and believe you.
I know that when I pray and give thanks instead of worrying, you have promised that I can experience the kind of peace that passes all understanding. That's your kind of peace, Lord. And it's the kind I crave.
Whenever I’m stressed, anxious, or afraid, help me remember to run to you. You're the only one that can calm my fears and end my fretful behavior.
Whether in trivial or heavy matters, I know you will not only give me peace; Lord, you will be my peace.
And when I draw close to you—in prayer, in reading your Word, in helping another, in taking my mind off myself—you will be there, up close and personal.
I can't handle these times alone, Lord. Will you speak peace and calm my storms, or hold my hand while we walk through them together? Will you bring the reassuring wisdom of those who have come through similar times into my life? Thank you, Lord. Lord, I come before you ready to pour out my worries, anxieties and fears at Your feet. I am claiming and declaring Your promises for blessings of peace and strength over my life. Bring a peace into my soul that passes all worldly understanding and make me a light for others to see Your strength.

Almighty God, We bless you for our lives, we give you praise for your abundant mercy and grace we receive. We thank you for your faithfulness even though we are not that faithful to you. Please guide our path through life and make our enemies be at peace with us. Let your peace reign in our family, at our place of work, businesses and everything we lay our hands on.

A Prayer for the Troubled Heart
Dear God, Our world is hurting and broken. We pray for those who have lost loved ones this week, please comfort them in their grief and loss, cover them with your peace and presence, as only your Spirit can do.

Prayer For Peace Of Mind – Psalm 91 to ease negative thoughts

Below is a graphic of Psalm 91 with the words changed to the first person. For example “I dwell” instead of “he who dwells”. This allows you to pray the psalm to claim peace of mind within your own life. The original words are a powerful prayer to bless another.

In this spirituality article, I look at how Psalm 91 can be prayed as a psalm for peace of mind.
Do you believe that even when you have a problem, you can still touch a deep feeling of peace that comes from trust in God?
“You cover me with your feathers, and under your wings I trust”
The female eagle carries her young under her wings.
Those young eagles may be flying with a huge drop beneath them. Yet they are safe and protected.
We can see these bible verses in Psalm 91 as a powerful image of God as a loving and protecting mother. (See also, Deuteronomy 32:11)“You cover me with your feathers, and under your wings I trust”
The meaning of Psalm 91 is that whatever dangers seem present in our world, the more we let God carry us, the more we fly through them and above them in safety. We associate more and more with the part of us that remains in God and rises above the difficulties of this world.
“Surely you deliver me from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence”
”The snare of the fowler” for me is what is often called the Inner Critic – the voice in your head, not necessarily audible! – that tells you you have got it all wrong.
Or it could be the Inner Judge – the voice in your head, that keeps telling you all the ways in which someone else has got it all wrong.
The Inner Judge may seem preferable to the Inner Critic. But stop and think about it…
Both voices make for unpleasant thoughts!
“Surely you deliver me from the snare of the fowler”
You might know the time when you need this prayer for peace of mind: You are in a place of saying:”I feel upset about something.On and on go my racing thoughts. They feel bad thoughts, negative thoughts.
I want to just dismiss them, but I don't seem to have the power to replace my thoughts with the thoughts that God would have me think.”
Great. If you see you don't have the power to change your thoughts this is a wonderful first step.
Now you can say a prayer for peace of mind. Invite God to decide for you.
Dear Holy Spirit, please decide for me. Thank you.

“Surely you deliver me from the snare of the fowler”
At the level of health I was at, I often had to lie still for 50 minutes of every hour. Believe me, it was very important to find some way to discipline my thoughts and direct them towards inner peace.
A good way to do this was to say psalm 91 as a prayer for peace of mind.
I am repeating the bible verse to give you an idea of the persistence with which you need to repeat words that ask for what you want and replace the words in your head that ask for what you do not want.
“The noisome pestilence” is interpreted differently in different versions of the Bible. Again I used this line as a prayer for peace of mind – peace from the unpleasant racing thoughts.
I also had depressionand I used both lines as a prayer for release from depression.
“Surely you deliver me from the snare of the fowler and the noisome pestilence”
So what do you do if it seems you don't have the power to quieten your racing thoughts?
You remember you don't have to find peace on your own. You say a prayer for peace of mind to invite God to give you peace.
When we pray Psalm 91 we do just that. We invite the Holy Spirit to enter our mind and bring us peace.
A short prayer for peace of mind, inspired by Psalm 91:
Dear God,
The thoughts in my mind are not the ones I want.
I don’t seem to be doing a great job of changing them.
I am willing to think what you would have me think.
I am willing to be at peace.
I claim the confidence of the psalmist in Psalm 91:
You deliver me my God from the snare of the fowler.
You deliver me my God from the noisome pestilence.
I am at peace.
